Wow, this brings back memories for me, my father had an arab platen to print leaflets and other items for his business in the '70s, I used to operate it for a bit of extra pocket money as a schoolboy. He had connected it to an electric motor and drive was engaged through a clutch, so it was easy to operate.
I also operated an Arab Press adapted to Electric Motor in 1970/80's. My main Job though was Linotype Operator, started of with Model 4, then 48 and finally a 1974 built Model 78 fitted with Automatic Hydraulic Quader & Pot Blower. Probably one of last Linotype Machines ever built & l kept it in a Spotless Condition. Roger, Bewdley Printing Co., Kidderminster.
