My heart is full, due to this story. In 67, unknown to the military, I married a Vietnamese farmgirl by the customs of her people, effectively marrying in to the village. While I was away, returned to duty, someone wiped out my village. I had planned on staying there. At the time it seemed possible. All these years later, I still miss my sweet Nawn and regret our daughter never got to be born. She was and shall always be my one and only. Bless you two, and your families and your reunion.
I couldn't even imagine, as a parent, what it takes to have to make that decision nor as a child being sent far away from home. Heart wrenching to say the least.
Don't worry Be happy We, all frighten of communist taking over the South. Life of the Amerasians were hard after the war, due to single parent (GI’s were long gone) and mix raced. There was a plane crash full of children during operation “baby lift”.
Often prostitutes in Asia have kids thinking the guys will marry them. Also, kids are viewed as a future income source by parents. Mixed kids are looked down on especially at that time so the bio mother would have been persecuted or killed herself. I doubt this was a "selfless" decision on her part as is being portrayed here. Almost all the women involved with foreigners were/are prostitutes, a fact no one seems to mention. For sure, the bio mother is looking for and expects financial help from her daughter; that is just the way it is in Asia.
I lost all of my family. Am alone till today. My mom died when am five I don’t know where is my dad is . This happened during Khmer Rouge 1975. Being foster child is not that easy. I don’t know my parents names or my own name sounds weird but the truth.
You should do a 23andme test. I found out I was a donor child and through the DNA test I found out who my father was. He is dead but I was able to connect with my uncle and his cousin
@@thaodinh2256 Oh cos Asian has a major overpopulation problem which is not being addressed. China has gone back to a 2 child policy which means the pop will never reduce and this only applies to those living in mainland China not other countries. Eventually our natural resources will be depleted, our environment destroyed and we will be overrun.
Imagine being a solider loading people up to the last flight out of Saigon. Having to tell women with their children that there wasn’t anymore room on board and they wont be saved
This story is unfortunate, but it is significant for reuniting the daughter and mother. I came to the US with my half-Vietnamese and American sister. When I was in the Philippines, we gave the US embassy my half-sister's father's dog tag; the US embassy was able to locate my half-sister's father in America. He is still alive but won't accept my sister as a daughter because he has a good family in America. He even wrote a letter to us and said, "Thank you" for caring for my daughter, but I guess because of his second wife and family. He rejected my sister, and she cried a lot. Unlike this story, she found her mother, and I am very happy for them. I understand the mother's story; I hope the daughter will forgive her. I grew up in Vietnam, and the majority of mixed kids would be punished either by the Vietnamese government or become the children of the dust.
This was so so sweet & my Father just passed away recently & he unfortunately has taken certain secrets with him to his grave & I might have a slightly older brother out there somewhere myself, so when I see happy moments like this, I absolutely love it 😍 ( God bless that family ) 🙏🏾🥰
Still feel sad, even though it is history. It remind me of the Korea situation when it is divided and family are separated too. There will not be closure until they meet again, ever wondering whether the other is alive or dead. The babies and children that died on the plan left behind many broken hearts.
My Nguyen I am sorry that your father denials you! Find the way to go near by him or his family, go on People search you will find out where he lives Good luck
Kynam Nguyen I have found everything about him .... I was planned to getting close to his place but the COVID 19 is interrupted my schedule... I will looking forward to see him and his family
I had the same happen when I looked for my cousins father she never knew, he and his family have gone quite after the first interaction thru email, even though the DNA says different. I wonder why do ancestry DNA if your not open to finding your past? All of it.
I would like to meet my father, he was a soldier stationed at Udon Thani air base in Thailand in 1975. His name is John. Winter Bower is in the state of Missouri, Mexico City. What should I do to find it?
Even as a woman almost 50 (or perhaps even over 50), her child like eyes were nearly identical to the beautiful ones in her smiling photo when she was a little girl. And her mother, who must be in her mid to late 60's or early 70's looks fantastic as well. God bless them both. So glad they could reunite after so many years have passed since that horrible war and those communist thugs that made life so miserable for so many of them after the war.
Damn which is the momma and which is the daughter.....even with all that grey hair she still look younger than the drk haired lady......ppl say blk don't crack......well Vietnamese ppl look young in their older yes too
I felt so sad because my holy father left me on Earth. Many years passed, the holy father gave me A son to cleanse my sins to perfection. My holy father is Jesus. Amen
