I’ve seen it done. But, I’m not sure if it’s a violation or not to twist them. I do know that when they’re twisted it reduces the strength of the chain.

All good points!! We have dual & super single dolly’s,I go for the super singles & “try” to find the newest dolly & lightest
Glad hand gaskets, brake shoes and dry wheel hubs. Been burned a few times myself. lol
If you have a real truck hitch, you don’t need “safety chains”. Pintle hooks belong on farm implements and Military equipment.
Except that all companies in the US that pull double/triples have the pintle hook setup and safety chains are required.
If the chains are too long you can twist them to shorten the slack

Is backing doubles the same as a regular 53’ or no?

Those style dollies shake too much for me
