Phyllis McGuire, the last living member of the McGuire Sisters, has passed away at the age of 89. She was the lead singer (and center sister, above). Those incredible voices and harmonies! Unmatched. Rest in peace, Phyllis. The music will live on forever.

They were unique and in a class of their own...such harmonies!! They never lost their voices, they sound just as good here as they did so many decades ago. They are missed but their music will live on forever. RIP Sweet Ladies...♥♥♥
I remember hearing of them as a kid in the 50s. They started out singing in the Church Of God, the church I grew up in. 78 years have gone by now since I was born, but I will never forget their sound. Many of the old timers in the church were heart-broken when they went to pop music, but talent like theirs needs to be shared with the world. They went too worldly for many in the church.
No, the Andrews Sisters were trailblazers in female vocal harmony but their talent, singing abilities and presence was not close to that of the McGuires…
Doris died from Alzheimer’s and she was even showing signs of it during this performance. The other girls were angry at her for not being able to stay in the act and move when she was supposed to move.
In my opinion, it is a gift of nature, as well as rigorous preparation. Greetings th-cam.com/video/EH0cFIPPZaE/w-d-xo.html *LOVE IS BLUE* Guitar Solo version in the style of *Santo & Johnny*
Wow, what memories I have of that wonderful evening. I was a guest of the Mcguire Sisters for this PBS live taping of Jukebox Saturday Night at the Grand Ballroom of the Marriott Marquis in Times Square New York. Thank you for posting this.
Phyllis McGuire, the last surviving member of the trio, The McGuire Sisters, passed away on December 29th, 2020 of natural causes in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was 89 years old... Between 1954 and 1961 the Middletown, Ohio trio had thirty-two records on Billboard's Top 100 chart, six made the Top 10 with two reaching #1, "Sincerely" for six weeks in February of 1955 and "Sugartime" for four weeks in February of 1958... Besides "Sincerely" and Sugartime", the trio's other four Top 10 records were "Goodnite, Sweetheart, Goodnite" {#7 in 1954}, "Muskcat Ramble" {#10 in 1954}, "Something's Gotta Give" {#5 in 1955}, and "He" {#10 in 1955}... Phyllis McGuire, as a solo artist, had one charted record, "I Don't Want to Walk Without You", it reached #79 in 1964... May Ms. McGuire R.I.P.
Sensational!!! It is impossible to say which is lovelier, they go together seamlessly vocally and are a real treat to listen to. Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When i was a young boy, I loved the McGuire sisters. My mom would watch them on TV and I was there just by chance to see them too. There was no question in my mind.
the music in 2018 is crap i was born 1939 and all the big band stuff and this is fab, i even played drums in the cavern liverpool before the beatles happy days, and mccartneys stepmother played piano in our band in the early 60.s great pianist.
Just awesome voices and gorgeous women, what a life ! I remember listening to the McGuire sisters when I was a boy at my grandparents home with the whole family reunions over the years. Oh geez those great memories.
+Denny Wood All the greats went to see the McGuire Sisters do their show. On their nights off, Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra both told how they would go to see the girls perform, and if they were spotted in the audience, Phyllis would pull them up on stage to sing with them... can you even imagine seeing and hearing all that talent on one stage at the same time back in the early 60s? It would have been like musical Heaven!
Absolute class !!! beautifully presented and so harmonious .Pity some young singers now days didn't take a leaf out of their professional book and see that success doesn't need to leave clothes off ..great orchestra too ..thank you
@@sylviasammons9639 Goodness gracious what a statement .. Do you feel better for writing that vicious comment... I was merely saying how much l enjoy the music and their presentation . They were a class act on stage ... Let them rest in peace ..💐🎶
Besides their great talent, hard work, much practice and superior handling made the McGuire Sisters as good as they were. In a vocal group such as this, talent alone doesn’t result in this type of perfection....another talented sister vocal group during the 30’s was the Boswell Sisters, the first group that sung jazz tunes of that period...
I grew up listening and singing with these lovely ladies. They taught me harmony. I always considered myself the fourth Mc Guide sister! I was a little girl in the 1950s.
I so recall watching this with my Dad; he LOVED The McGuires, & was just in heaven while they were on. I had to convince him to watch this : he didn't want to, but in the end, was happy I made him stay up ! ----- Miss you Dad.-------------Wolofsky9, 70 y/o
NO NO Dorothy was my crush in grade and high school - they all three sang in our church each Sunday - very quiet and very poor girls from a poor family - they were kinda homely as mother allowed no make-up for them ---- Middletown Ohio
I always had a crush on Dorothy. Guess it's because I've got a thing for brunettes. Sadly, passed away not long ago. Guess she's entertaining Dino and Frank.
Classy, elegant and one of a kind- todays attempts at noise music should take lessons study closely what real music sounds like. This is when entertainers still dressed elegantly and would have been laughed off stage wearing ripped jeans.
Best time to grow up, in my opinion. Somehow, it was more innocent. Children were protected from certain ugly truths of the adult world. We were allowed to be children. No more I am sad to say.
You cannot beat family harmony. There is far to little of it around. The Three Browns had it in country. Now the only place you find much of it is in the Christian Music ganre. The Issac and the Booth Bro. Are of note. Check it out.
In fairness to the Andrews Sisters They really got the ball rolling with their great harmony and contributions to music, especially during WW2. Besides the McGuire Sisters great talent, their arrangements and accompaniment really showcased them..
Ave no idea how to find free games we they ask me for my email address and screen name and password I guess my grandson put this in it asks me for them and tell me it,s invalid i,ll just have toforget using my notebook.

Such true talent! I'm listening to this video a few times a day at the moment! Love it so much!
@@SammyBermanThey're fabulous!
Can't listen to this without tearing up...what class! What harmonies...no need for computer pitch correction!
"no need for computer pitch correction" 100% correct!! auto-tune is for the talentless p.o.s. trying to pass themselves off as entertainers today!
ABSOLUTE BEAUTIFUL HARMONY, THESE WERE, AND ARE SINGERS!!!!, Few, if any singers today can sing without being digitize

Yes there harmony was special.
I'm 86 and have always loved their music. I'm still listening today January 27.
I just can't get enough of the McGuire sisters--I wish they had a 24-hour channel.
I have just fallen in Love with the most Beautiful Talented Ladies. Just Incredible!!! Harmony Extraordinaire!!!!!!
Their ability to harmonize was unmatched.
MrListener43 The Andrews Sisters harmonized better. Imho..
They didn’t need ear plugs or anything. This was just pure raw talent.

What a freaking performance this was unreal.
They were and still are the best of all the performers..Their looks and vocals unmatched
their blend on "He" is just incredible.. same as it was 60 years ago ! amazing!
I agree kerry - absolutely amazing!!
I agree as well - incredible!
Unmatched now and always the greatest
The McGuire Sisters did a great presentation here.
There were perfectionists and they were demanding of others doing the same!
still, after all these years, Class wins, every time ! RIP, Sister's McGuire. we loved you & miss you. ------MJL, 77 y/o
great to see a live band long gone these days and this kind of talent
It so wonderful to hear great vocalists instead of what passes for music today!
💖❤💝... 🌹💐🌹... 👍💥👍... 💫 Super-Sisters!
Completely iconic. Amazing talent even in their later years! 0:56
This is music!!! The McGuire Sisters are the absolute best. Wish I lived in that era.
I did live in this era. Its why I get tears in my eyes when I listen to these songs ...
What precise harmonizing, they sound like one singer is on stage.

Decency - decency - decency. Man, I miss that!
Why don't we have talent or performers like this today?? "(
We do they just sing a different genere of music. This was pop music in the 1950s.

Just real talent. Bottom line: this was powerful singing. You can’t use auto tune to get these vocals. This singing is the real deal.
"You can’t use auto tune to get these vocals" absolutely correct!

The Ames Brothers.

Andrews Sisters
Maguire Sisters
Lennon Sisters
Pointer Sisters?
The Andrew Sisters harmony was great also, but Phillis was a much stronger lead than Patty Andrews was...
And, with all due respect to Patti, Maxine and Lavergne (sp?), better stage presence and classier act.
