@@DandyDoesIt Yeah we've only had it for a couple of weeks and I was close to returning it as having a faulty battery or base unit. Would help if they made it more known!
Interesting question. You have to have a battery in it while operating regardless of whether or not you are plugged into an outlet. I have to imagine that the battery would charge while plugged in whether the unit is being used or not. But I don't know this for sure. I never use it plugged in. The battery operation is just so convenient.
@@blaz7933 on the base or the battery? The reddish light on the battery doesn't change color for me. You just have to push the button to check the charge.
i just received mine and they are fully charged but the orange charge light is still on. SO you are saying you have to turn the bottom sub button on to charge them? thank you for making video. Much appreciated
Yes. Turn on the sub. It will charge for a bit without but then shut off. Turn on the sub and it will continue to charge even after it goes into protect mode, which is fine. Won't hurt it at all. I'm going on 2 years with mine now.
basic battery knowledge = never charge fully only up to 85% 90% max... never let go completely dead. you always want it between 25% and 85% your batteries will last longer.
This Problem has been fixed by a new firmware. TheMauis have to be sent back to get the update. In Germany all done and paid by Adam Hall Group without any Problems. Here they allowed me to take out the electronic modules and just send those back instead of the whole speaker systems. I also got an update for the DSP because the Maui might not wake up from standby, when it gets an input Signal. By the Way The blinking protect led is the Standby mode. Depending on firmware version it might just light without blinking.
I didn't realize this was a problem. Letting them go into protect mode while charging doesn't bother me at all. What does bother me is LD Systems not mentioning this in the instructions, possibly to sell more external chargers. There was an issue in the early release of this speaker where as you mentioned, they don't always wake up upon receiving a signal which they indeed fixed with an update. Fortunately I have not experienced this issue in the 2 years I've owned them.
I forgot to mention that with the new firmware the charge light turns off, when charging is complete. I realized that it must be a problem because of the instruction manual. There it sais that they charge with the unit plugged in but turned off. And when I found your video and I got my second Maui, I realized that it's probably a problem with all older Maui go speakers.
@@Kaefer13O3 That's neat. Not something I would ship them in for, but a nice feature for new buyers. My wish list would be an adapter ring to get rid of the spacer and stack 2 batteries so I can get through a long event without doing a battery swap.
This is strange cause i have got the maui5 go 100 from last year and this still happens.. as it is the new model (maui 5 go 100) should come already with latest firmware. When the power is off it charges only for 15 minutes and stops charging.. i have to turn off and turn on again to continue charging... really this should be alreaady fixed especially with this new model, they really dont care!
Just leave the power turned on while charging. I agree I think the company is trying to sell external chargers. FYI, the 100 has the lower capacity battery. Pretty sure the Go battery would be compatible if you want longer life but I would double check that. Lou Paris might be a good person to ask.
Thanks just unboxed mine. Great info
You're going to love it!
This was doing my head in! Thanks for the info!
You're welcome. Pretty sure ld systems just wants to sell more external chargers.

@@DandyDoesIt Thank you brooo 💗
Would you think 2 Maui Go’s would be enough for functions with up to 75-100 guests ?
Absolutely! I do it all the time.
Stick with the Gos! I have been all battery powered since last year. It's awesome.
Should the light turn green?
Which light are you referring to?

can batteries be used with the basic model maui 5 ?
Unfortunately no

There is no way to tell that precisely with these. All you get are three Green Dots
