We got the detailed trail map that National Geographic puts out. It has all the detailed mileages between trail junctions and campgrounds. Then we just planned an out and back loop to Rock Harbor according to the time we had and the amount of miles we wanted to do per day.
I hear from people that visited Isle Royale that bugs can be bad from June to mid August. I wonder if there is no predator for those snakes? Seem to be too many in one area. They would freak out my wife.
Those shelters are appreciated. Not having to pack a wet or damp tent in the mornings is a bonus.

The bugs were bad in certain areas but probably not a lot different than you would see in areas of the UP or Northern Minnesota.
