A few things I have to say. First, these XE60s have no business on the M14 line. They already received newer regular diesel XD60s and Nova LFSAs. These new all electric artics could be on one of the other airport routes that never had artics in the past. They could also go on routes like the Q50 from Co-op City to Flushing. And they could displace the Orion 7 Next Gen Hybrids. And considering the MTA went great lengths to purchase these all electric artics, they should have at the very least ordered them with the Alcoa stainless steel wheels. This is a unique order......all electric, they could have given this bus a nicer exterior look. I also have an issue with the way New Flyer is still building their bus bodies. Nova, and Gillig are guilty of it too. However, I'll just talk about New Flyer for now. The Xcelsior debuted in 2008 or so. Now we are going into 2020 and the windows are still being manufactured the same way for over a decade. The whole window assembly is defective. The top sash window that opens partially sometimes opens suddenly due to road conditions. Also the emergency exit latches on the windows get loose also due to road vibration and become open while the bus in motion. The result is a swinging window which is extremely dangerous to passengers. This is a routine problem on NYC Xcelsiors and Novas. So I don't understand why New Flyer and the other manufacturers have not switched to a more robust design by now.
If they really wanna test these buses out, they'll send them to Casey Stengel for that Q44.
Casey Stengel will just scratch it with a quarter
