I love that she does this monologue with Randy’s memorial in the background. Genius way for them to pay homage to him.

I just love how they all talk about it in the modern era of horror movies and how it was written. Just let’s us know how far we come as fans of this movie
It also reminds of where we are in this era with movies. The fourth movie pointed out how we were in the times of horror remakes. This point we are indeed in the point of requels. Now I wonder what rules the 6th movie is following. Although, they said this Ghostface is different from the others. So maybe he/she is breaking the rules.
As a die-hard Scream fan, I'll never forget first watching this in theaters with the biggest smile on my face thinking, "Yeah, this is a 'Scream' movie all right, and I love it." ❤ I just love how absolutely unafraid they are to actually discuss film and the horror genre. Makes it truly stand out in a way its imitators don't.

This scene is so brilliantly written. It’s the perfect commentary on the legacy of the movies we love being trapped by our own fandom.

It's pretty obvious at this point who the killer is. The most silent one of the group are almost always the killer. Amber here barely said 3 words.

So basically, you could've called it Scream 5 still, but only called it Scream 2022 because of Halloween 2018? Haha. In essence, it IS Scream 5 and thus, why I still call it that. Also, the reunion scene with Dewey and Martha is really freaking sweet.

1. The killer is sometimes the most obvious suspects.
2. Every kill scene always get gruesome.
3. Anybody can die in Requel Sequel, and I mean... anybody. Not to mention, anyone can come back

I'm kind of glad that Chucky finally got a mention in a Scream film, even if it was the remake they were talking about. I had always been kind of miffed as to why Michael, Jason, Freddy, Pinhead, Leatherface, etc. always got mentioned, but nobody ever name-dropped Chucky or the Child's Play series.
I actually saw someone saying this wasn’t like a real Scream cause it didn’t comment on the current state of film… even though… it did. In this scene. And it’s not even horror either, it’s about Hollywood right now too. Every series is doing requels. And lots of elevated horror movies are coming out too. I love how this scene comments on all of that.

I can’t help but wonder if Mindy’s speech about Wes and Judy is the reason that Amber and Richie decided to target them next? I mean if Wes and Judy were not pertinent to traditional requels (connected to the original) then they might have left them until they targeted Mindy and Chad or even Samantha and Tara.
I think they were always meant to be targets, but amber and Richie capitalised on Mindy giving them a false sense of security as an opportunity to kill them easier and also get under certain characters skins (specifically Mindy)

Last Friday night, myself and 14 friends and acquaintances got to watch SCREAM 5 , right there in the Meeks house that the whole cast is sitting and talking about who the killer is.
What was pretty cool was we were watching the movie on the SAME TV you see in the movie with Billy Loomis' picture on it.
So we were watching the movie on the tv in the movie , that has stuff about the ORIGINAL movie on it, lol ! It was a lot of fun.
We even had the same snacks out on the coffee table that they have in the movie, along with a homemade fake blu ray copy of STAB sitting on the table.
Of course all of us were wearing something with SCREAM on it.
It's a night none of us will ever forget. All thanks given to my friend that arranged it all for us. 😱🖤😱🖤😱🖤😱🖤😱

Disregarding the toxic Star Wars fans that harass the actors, most of them have a point. The sequel trilogy is an aimless mess and The Rise of Skywalker was an anaemic effort to control the damage The Last Jedi caused.
Mindy is one of those characters that you should listen to, if you’re in a very dangerous situation. For example: Doc Brown from the Back to the Future trilogy, Burt Gummer from the Tremors series, and Egon Spengler from the Ghostbusters movies.
The fact that we haven’t gotten a star being Ghostface would be great foreshadowing for Scream 6

Jill was technically the star (the new “Sidney” if you will) specially since she and Sidney were cousins.
But then in the end it turns out she was the killer.

Since the first Scream follows the formula of a regular horror film, the second one following a sequel, third being a trilogy, the fourth serving as a remake, and this fifth film as a requel, I wonder what the sixth film’s formula is going to follow. I mean, what else is there?

@@Logan-dn6uv I don't think they would ever do a prequel. You see, part of why the Scream movies are so great is because you try to figure throughout each film who the killers are and what their motives are before the reveal. If a prequel was made, it wouldn't work because we already know that Billy and Stu were the original killers, it was revenge for Sidney's mom having an affair with Billy's dad leading to Mrs. Loomis leaving, and that Roman caused all of this to happen in the first place. A prequel wouldn't work because we already know the answers to the mystery. In addition, in each film, everyone knows the formula for the supposed film they are in. If a prequel was made, none of them would think they're in a prequel. Unless Billy and Stu at the end decided to say "This isn't our first movie. This is just the prequel. Next year... Next year will be the real first movie. And then... we plan the sequel."

Same as my dad. He watched National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (We watched it again today) and then they had a 2015 Vacation remake. My dad was not happy.
It's depend on how it's done really I don't mind the idea of reboots It just depends on how they're executed.
What's funny is Scream isn't a requel, the in universe Stab movie that the killers in this one are trying to make would be; but by acknowledging and then interacting with the cannon of the other Scream movies past the first one, it really isn't doing anything other than being a new sequel trying to introduce new characters; which they already tried with Scream 4. This is why I'm really worried about the new one; I don't know where Scream 6 can go and how it has anything left to say about where horror films are right now, since they already addressed requels. The only other horror fad I can think of that's going on right now is horror as social and political commentary, and since this scene already explains that this franchise isn't about that kind of thing; I don't think that's what we'll see.

My fan theory is that the Scream franchise is set in the same universe as Last Action Hero. After the events of that movie, Jack Slater traveled through the movie universe telling people in other genres the truth. That's why everybody is so self aware.

Its a Retcon. Not a whatever the heck they were calling it. Its exactly what happened in Halloween 2019.
A retcon is when something that was established lreviously as true is now said to not be true anymore. For example piccolo from dragon ball being retconned into being an alien along with goku is one. This is not a retcon
Alright, it's time to deconstruct and challenge this. Firstly, it's absolutely a sequel and shamelessly reusing the original name. Secondly, it's almost no different than a spinoff with newer and legacy characters in the same universe. Thirdly, knowing that, most of the information Mindy Cheeks is sharing about relatives don't feel justified here. Instead, they seem very forced without buildup and actually makes everything more complicated once you've figured out why these murders are orchestrated. I really don't understand how or why they thought simply making this story centered around killing legacy characters wasn't good enough. The new murders could've just been around them, and more, by obsessed fans than this least convincing family subplot.
