    HISTORY OF THE MOROCCAN TEA
British people contacted the Sultan of Morocco in 1870 in order for them to sell the stock that they had due to their war in Crimea. First gunpowder was delivered to Port of Tangiers and Essaouira. It was a popular drink in the Moroccan Royal court and then popular to all Morocco. Later other part of the North Africa adopted it. But Morocco is the first country in the world to import gunpowder.

Moroccan tea started from Sultan Ismail of Morocco who made a deal with Britain to import their stock of gunpowder tea they had due to their war in Crimea. First the tea was prepared in the royal court of Moulay Ismail, preparation with min tea and sugar. This preparation was then adopted by all Morocco and some neighbouring countries. MOROCCAN TEA.

It is better to add mint after bowling tea by its own to avoid burning the mint and to ensure a strong mint flavor.
    Thanks

Mint like basil its relative, is a volatile oil, meaning it's best extracted in boiling or simmering water. Without risk of ruining flavor or nutrients

It's better to add sugar and mint after the boiling. A tip from a moroccan 😉.
Do it with rosemary too instead of mint. It's fantastic, so fantastic.

@@NG__________ Here is the most authentic mint tea preparation I found. It takes time but it’ worth s it. And very important, to extract the Spirit of the Tea as the first step: pouring some out water on the leaves on the beginning and NOT STIRRING. Then after 1 minute pour out that “Gold” and save it for later. Then you can rinse the leaves with hot water 2-3 times. You will see the dirt...If you don’t rinse you drink all that dirt...
I don’t know if you understand French but just by watching the video you can understand. If u have any question about the French sentences don’t hesitate to ask me. Bsaha u Raha !

    1. mint tea is the most popular tea in Morocco. more than any other beverage. 2. you can find many types of tea pots - those made of silver are very expensive and used in special occasions. the regular ones (made with some kind of metal) are for every day use.

one of the most important ingredient is of course mint! Moroccan mint is extremely flavorful, which may not be the case with the mint that you are using (grown outside of morocco). Also the dried green tea- use the chinese one called 'gunpowder'. and finally, the sugar. truly - the sugar tastes different!

  • @moncefbounnite3372
    @moncefbounnite3372 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    1- Boil the water.
2- Add the green tea to a large teapot and 1 cup of boiling water. Let rest for 1 minute then pour the water into a cup. Set aside. In Morocco, this tea water is called the “spirit of the tea”, which means it contains the first burst of flavors from the tealeaves.
3- Add another cup of boiling water to the teapot, swish around, then pour the water into a cup. Discard. This step is to clean the tea and you will notice that the water is darker the second time.
4- Pour back the “spirit of the tea” into the teapot. Add boiling water to the teapot until it is three quarters full.
5- Place the teapot on the stove and, on low heat, bring the tea to a boil.
6- Remove the teapot from the heat and immediately add the mint leaves and sugar to the teapot.
7- Mix all the ingredients by pouring the tea into a glass and then pouring it back into the teapot. Repeat this step 2-3 times.
8- Serve immediately. While pouring, hold the teapot high above the glass, to get the distinctive foam of Moroccan mint tea!

Hi, love this vidieo. I was told that pouring it from glass to teapot was to evenly mix the mint, tea and sugar evenly, its like u add sugar to a cup of tea or coffee and you dont stir it and u have all the sugar in the bottom even if it disolves the dencity makes it stay at the bottom, is this ture? also...I think I need to grow my own mint because a bucnch not even 1/4 of the size of yours cost about 2-4 dollars here where i live

First gunpowder came to Port of Tangiers and Essaouira. It was a popular drink in the Royal court and then popular to all Morocco. Later other part of the North Africa adopted it.
