Hi Fatima, you are right, after mixing the ingredients, we need to put the pot back on the fire for few minutes. However, you can only do this with the Moroccan Tea pot, and I used a ceramic pot (which you can not put directly on the fire). Outside of Morocco, there are not many people that have Moroccan Tea pots or specialized Moroccan ingredients, so I am showing them how to make moroccan recipes with things they can find in the supermarket or at their homes. cheers :-)
I met some guys from Morocco while I was staying in a hostel. I became good friends them. Then I made them some green tea and they told me I should make mint tea. So I went out and bought some mint and they made me some Morrocan mint tea! Now I make it at home and it's my favourite tea too!! In fact I'm drinking some right now!
I LOVE Moroccan Mint Tea!!! It brings me back to my very first experience with studying abroad in Morocco! My "mama" always made me smile with her tasty cooking! :) .... You really brought back sweet memories!
Stop bashing people! Alia is doing a great job and she doesn't have to!..she is doing it to help out those who want to learn basic Moroccan cuisine. We know it's not the tea pot we usually use for tea, but not everybody owns one and not everybody has time to do it the proper way. I have a Moroccan tea pot and I don't use it that often, especially when I want my tea to be light. Alia is doing a great job and for free, so please show her some encouragement.
I like that you solve and make traditional dishes without complications. Very easy and clear explanations. Your website is also great! Allah ibarik fik :)
Question: does good Moroccan Mint tea have a kind of thickness to it? I regularly go to The Kasbah Restaurant in Liverpool. The owners are Moroccan; and they make perfect mint tea! I've been trying to copy it for ages, but can't get it right!
I hope you all liked it! Stephan1234 is right, we drink mint tea in morocco after lunch and dinner to help us digest all the delicious tajines :-) It makes me happy when one tries my recipes! :-D
Thank you Ghizlane for your sweet message! I am so glad you enjoyed the videos. and if you are would like to search for recipes or print them, you can find all of them in my website (cookingwithalia(dot)com). cheers!
Looks good! I would like to know or to learn the kind of marrocan tea that is not transparent like the English tea. Is really green foamy and kind (not completely) of heavy. Do you know by chance the recipe of that one? Thank you for sharing! Blessings,
dried green tea, now I assume you can make this but making a cup of green tea then evaporating the water leaving powdered tea in the cup, would this work?
Thank you Alia for this Presentation, i think that this is the first time i'm seeing such a way of preparing the Moroccan Tea, but i personnaly think that this is not the way i used to see people preparing it, could you tell us please where in Morocco this method is coming from ^^?
Hi. you are right, this is not the traditional Moroccan way of making tea and I was not intending to show the traditional way. First, I am using a clay pot not a Moroccan steel tea pot, because I was making this video for people who are living outside of Morocco and dont necessary have a Moroccan tea pot. I am also intending to make another video with the whole Moroccan tea set as you know of washing the gun powder, putting the boiled water in the tea pot, returning it to the fire etc. cheers :-)
Hi! I have special 'Moroccan Tea Mint' and was wondering if anybody knew if it would be better than normal mint. I have HEAPS in my home garden and not sure what to do with it.
Just thought id give you a lil tip, up to you to try it or not.. Add a thin slice of lemon in the tea pot, and once the tea is done and poured in the cup add some bondok (pine nuts) :)
@IIGUISEL Hi, I don't know much about handling mint nor do I know how to make Morrocan mint tea, but I do know a lot about green tea. One of the first lessons of making green tea is that you should never boil it, as it'll burn the tea. So you might be right that this isn't the Morrocan way, but it's a way with much more respect for the delicate tea than the way you describe.
Sometimes I wonder about people. After watching the video and reading the comments I learned he following: you need green tea, mint leaves (preferebly fresh and you can choose between different sorts of the plant) water and sugar. And then you may start a war about ratio, method,. measurement and the way sugar is or isn't pressed into cubes. The last one is so pointles as the sugar disolves. When I get offered a glas of mint tea, how am I supposed to taste the difference of kind of sugar added?
you are right i didnt recognize in what a pot you did it...sorry hehe...you know just wanted to let them know that this is the American way of cookin moroccan tea ;-P...shoukran
wow! I know what you should do with it, ship it to me!!!! :-) I LOVE Moroccan tea, it smells like heaven. you could use it in ground meat balls (check my recipe of Kefta Tajine) to see how to spice the ground meat but then just grill it in the BBQ or bake in oven (instead of cooking it in tomato sauce like the video). it's yum yum yum.
sugar cubes are no different from granulated sugar (she didnt use powdered sugar here as you said)-sugar cuves are just granulated sugar that has soem water aded and tehy are packed into that shape...thats it! the water evaopirates and you are left with just packed granulated sugar....
I know it’s a 12 yrs old video but aren’t you supposed to rince the tea : First you would pour some hot water on it like a 1/4 c, not shaking the pot, pour it in a glass to save it for later. It’s called the Spirit of the Tea, it will be out back in later, then rince 2-3 times the leafs pouring out, you will see how dark and dirty are the leafs... So this process is essential...you don’t have to do the Spirit of the Tea step but at least you HAVE TO rince the tea 2-3 times otherwise you will be drinking all this dust...
I want to get something straight here, I keep hearing and reading that making Moroccan tea is traditionally done by the man of the house and not the women, is this true?
Thank You my sister for your video! Keep up the good work, as for the malcontents you should delete their crap that's the only way they can get attention.
I am sorry but we doesnt make oure moroccan tea like that...its a much longer process to do moroccan tea!!!you need to cook it after you put all in...so he gets his typical brown color...

Can you make me a special mint gunpowder?
I know it’s a 12 yrs old video but aren’t you supposed to rince the tea : First you would pour some hot water on it like a 1/4 c, not shaking the pot, pour it in a glass to save it for later. one advice , don't use mainth branches , use just its papers, and s good to wash mainth nd tea in the pot with hot water ther add sugar. goodjob.
I want to get something straight here, I keep hearing and reading that making Moroccan tea is traditionally done by the man of the house and not the women, is this true?
Mmmm, I can almost smell it. Thanks for the recipe, I'll try that. :)
TO BE DARK YOU HAVE TO PUT HIM IN GLASS AND REMOVE IT TO THE POT A LOT OF TIMES
by the way where is that gun powder in the ingredient ????? lol :D
that's exactly what i was going to say
Thank You my sister for your video! Keep up the good work, as for the malcontents you should delete their crap that's the only way they can get attention.

but .... but .... Macha7ertiihch !!!
not the exact way how we make it. But hey, a part of mint tea is that everyone has its own way of making mint tea.
Where is the part where you load the gunpowder into a gun and start shooting targets.
sugar is not healthy... mint tea is but it still taste great when i have no nothing added
la version américaine du thé à la menthe mdr
heureusement qu'il n'y a pas des marocains qui trainent dans l'coin...
Sort but it's not the real typical morrocan recipe of mint tea.
You need a moroccan berrad.
Silly, gunpowder is a type of tea. If you know tea well, you should gunpowder tea.
@MrKaerf women put alot of sugar in it and they make it light !!! we men we dont like that through
Please avoid using white sugar Sis.
