Weed is fine it doesn't take you onto harder drugs plus I'd say it's less harmful than alcohol. I worked at Substance Misuse services in London for many years before I moved to Bangkok. I had many clients who died from alcohol abuse . Obviously different types of weed and debate around mental health as some people use Skunk to mask it.
Wow, I'm working on the Andover presently. I'm gonna check out your videos bro, only watched up to where you mentioned it........what I've seen so far is very good........ best of luck mate.
As a confirmed Dudeist, I think it's good what they've done. Things are already settling down now as all things do here in Thailand so I feel it is going to be a perminant arrangement. I would like to see some protection for the young people who are so easily influenced, but they will simply go and get plastered with laokhao and nothing will change.
There’s more cannabis shops now than massage shops 555 . Of course there’s an explosion in small businesses right now but a free market will weed out the ones that can’t compete. It’s basics of free market capitalism. It’s freedom. ❤️🇹🇭🌶
I think most shops try to sell exotic high THC Buds for huge Prices, A lot Cheaper in Melbourne. A few places have local buds for reasonable prices but it was cheaper before. Good that it is legal but agree there should be more guidance and warnings.. I remember going to a skunk trance Laser Nightclub in London in 1994. Amazing and the skunk was strong. Racehorse Spliffs. Thanks Pat, Great Topic.
Someone in your video said weed stores popped up all over the place in California, but then the number dropped to meet actual demand. I live in New York City, in the Lower East Side. There are 4 weed stores within 50 yards of my home. I know the same thing is going to happen here. Most of the stores popping up around the city are going to go bust. I actually feel bad for all the people who took out bank loans to open the stores. Me? I stopped smoking pot a long time ago, because it was fun for a while, then it just started making me paranoid. I hear people say "Oh that's because of the quality" or "You should take this oil" etc. Honestly, it's not that important to me. It was fun but I went on with my life and I don't need to think about it.
@@thebangkokconnection4080 False. Thailand sells high quality cannabis of all types including some of the most popular/high potent strains sold in other countries that have legalized weed.
Another great video Pat. Well done mate. Looking forward to getting to BKK in June - going to be there 40-50 days. Looking at some of your suggestions for places to settle. Really grateful mate. Thank you 🙏🙏
Good balanced discussion, there seems a reasonable consensus on what the pros and cons are. I was told by a resident expat that the drinks industry is upset because it’s interfering with their sales. Time spent spliffing that previously would be spent quaffing..
If you know Thailand, you know the major health hazard in society is Moonshine (Lao Kaow) Moonshine causes cancer (stomach, liver and more). Cannabis use is a great way to restore sore muscles at the end of a day of hard labor. And weed has NO HANGOVER, so you can go to work in the morning with no pain. P.S. My neighbor died this month trying to drive to work while still drunk from the night before. If he had smoked pot instead, his child would still have a father.
Great video! I’m also from California and of two minds about the weed thing, Now that it’s settled down back home, it’s great for my friends who consume: city people can order for delivery, country people can grow their own. But the cartels didn’t just go away, the part before and beside the dispensary is still unregulated, semi-legal, and often violent. I think many Thais who dislike legalization are legitimately worried about the likelihood of corruption and organized crime increasing. I’m curious to see how the issue will play in the elections.

I just got back from a month in Thailand . I was amazed at the amount of weed shops in Bangkok and also Phuket. I havent smoked for 30 years but I didnt see any freaked out foregners on the street.
I remember 'skunk' arriving in London. It was a big moment! Unfortunately 4 of my mates ended up in a Chelsea mental hospital due to Psychosis caused by the stronger weed. And we smokers are still in denial lol. There's a reason 'American weed' was class A, and hash/weed was class B. I think 'newbies' will probably struggle with it first time round. But beware the psychosis caused by the stronger stuff (see: Canadian and American voters lol). And 'bad people' come to Thailand, due to being able to sexually exploit poverty-stricken girls (a result of their culture). There are a lot of foreigners with mental illness here too. Weed smokers tend to not have toxic personality disorders.
The 500-900bt a gram is imported its not grown by the Thai farmers...they grow Thai stick/bush and I usually get 10g for 300bt down Jomtien market its probably even cheaper elsewhere
It was nice man, I highly recommend it. I will definitely be smoking weed on my next Thailand trip. Smoking and going to visit the southern Islands is also amazing

Been smoking cannabis even before it was legalized in Thailand. Compared to hard drugs like meth and yaba, cannabis is the less you should be concern of. I support the legalization of cannabis.
Different Pat, not my bag, but it’s never going away. I was in Hua Hin last week, didn’t see a blue sky, due to the pollution, but better than Bangkok!!

@@leebee2348 the usual silly response. Thailand is unquestionably one of the centres of the global drug trade. @@jefflinton oh dear! The old ‘gateway’ drug argument! The only reason cannabis was called a gateway drug was because when it’s illegal you have to cross the line of illegality to buy it - which takes you into the world of criminality and dealing with people who deal with REAL drugs! By Thailand making it legal it’s no longer a ‘gateway’ to the darkside! ;)
I’m not sure if someone sitting on their sofa in the UK (chilling 😉)or anywhere that requires getting on a plane would go just for the weed. Tourists who like a joint will lit up in the party hotspots . From what Iv seen in the local area where I stay it’s mostly local youngsters that seem to be enjoying it. Phuket is even more expensive. try 800-1000 baht per gram for the top shelf. In terms of the Harm Scale - which takes into account Physical harm on the individual, and social harm on society such as violence, alcohol is number 1. Cigarettes in number 2. The problem is all the little pop up stalls on the side of the road which are unregulated.

Thailand is the most liberal country in SE Asia yet they can be conservative in other aspects of their culture. Regardless of availability of weed, its up to you the invidual. And there is a short phrase in thai - gaw laew taak, its up to you . Thanks Pat for your upload
Koh Samui has 7 meters between the weed shops. Smells all over. I have seen videos from Pattaya were kids smoked. If youngsters/kids wants alcohol they have to pay for it and have someone buy it. If they want weed its free in the backyard and no id needed. People on social benefits program from Scandianvia can go to Thailand now and stay for months smoking. They have money enough for that. It is expensive alcohol here, cheap there.
Pros: Prosperity, with the right and wise people educating and cultivating cannabis tourism Cons: Slum, with the wrong ignorant people abusing disrespecting existence of other people
Good luck to those from Singapore who hope to get their cannabis fix while in BKK. They'll be arrested once they touch down in SG, which has laws against consumption even when overseas. Even national sportsmen are not exempt!
Sad the Thai political “officials” didn’t write up laws / guidelines for selling “weed”. But this is typical in Thai thinking- don’t collaborate with everyone involved and ask the “what ifs” before introducing a new government decision. Recreational weed that could have been zoned and regulated ( like alcohol is) will most likely be banned after elections are over this spring. Medical weed will be allowed.

I'm glad it's legal too because I thought there was something wrong with my weed. It made me cough and didn't really have a smell. Until I realized it was just different terpene profile. Spicy. Different from a bag of lemon smell.
If Thailand maintains the welcoming atmosphere for cannabis users I am seriously considering moving there, if they dont then I wont, it's pretty simple I go where I'm treated the best
I like that it's decriminalized and the theraputic benefits for pain management. I have arthritis. I wish it were legal everywhere. But...used in the privacy of your own home or a business set up for smoking.
This reminds of the more important general-principle question: Based on what criteria does any given society (read: government) decide that X is illegal and Y is legal?
@@molonlabe9602 is it? Or does old tradition weigh in more than it should? I mean, consider this: If tobacco were first discovered in 1996 and by 2003 all science and medicine were already telling us it can cause disease, would it be legalized?

Haha yeah. Im from Amsterdam and 25 years ago we used to just hang out after school, listen to Wu Tang or Cypress Hill or something while we rolled up one. I do think its a lot less innocent than people make it out to be though. As with anything, just one or two a week after school is fine and most of us quit when we got older and went to uni and such. The guys who liked the stuff a bit more than that though did run in to trouble. And trouble could vary between getting bad grades at school to full on psychosis and even, trigger warning, suicide. Now im not claiming a bit of weed caused these issues, but smoking lots of it on a daily basis most likely didnt help either. Amsterdam is really trying to, well not get rid of it, but to control its use. Nowadays if you smoke as a local, especially an adult, youll probably be considered a bit of a loser by many? And they are trying to move the tourist scene away from that culture and get more of the fancy hotel, museum and dine-out people in. So I completely get the people who seriously wonder if this is a direction Thailand should be heading in.
It's so unclear, they say it's only legal for medical use, but as everyone can see there are shops everywhere selling it. I live in Bangkok, we have neighbours here in their sixties (thai) growing it in their garden, educated people. But they're experimenting and for example putting it in food, mix it with honey to have it in tea before going to bed. They're not aware of the THC concetration at all and I suppose it could be risky. Government need to inform people. Even if some doctors wants more regulations, I believe the are afraid to loose tourists if they change the rules again.

On oversaturated market fro my visit s Month ago … expensive Sukhumvit weed show rooms empty of foot traffic … road side carts / lines of punters … you learn day one in Thailand since day dot if you see a line … good or cheap and mostly both.
Guidelines for the uninitiated should be clear, otherwise there could be unwanted incidents.
Weed in Thailand that is not low grade hemp you can be arrested for. Thailands best weed is dirt weed in other countries.
In Thailand shops can only sell hemp, not pot which will get you arrested.
@@thebangkokconnection4080 False. Thailand sells high quality cannabis of all types including some of the most popular/high potent strains sold in other countries that have legalized weed.
Was in korat 10yrs ago with my Thai g/f, and not a hint of weed whilst out there.
Now I’ve given it up, it goes legal!
Another great video Pat. Well done mate. Looking forward to getting to BKK in June - going to be there 40-50 days. Looking at some of your suggestions for places to settle. Really grateful mate. Thank you 🙏🙏
Thanks Anthony, will be starting a few videos for those looking to settle in Bkk.

Mate I'll be looking forward to them. Really appreciate your time and effort. Very grateful 🙏👍
Good balanced discussion, there seems a reasonable consensus on what the pros and cons are. I was told by a resident expat that the drinks industry is upset because it’s interfering with their sales. Time spent spliffing that previously would be spent quaffing..
They'll bring out a weed beer with thc l think, it's inevitable.
Ah yes, that’d do it maybe call it Stonepiss..
Another great video from Bangkok Pat!
Many thanks!😎
Excellent work! Please would love to see more discussion on this topic
A lot of Thai people smoke weed also, I spoke to a cannabis shop owner in Bangkok and he's jammed solid, with thai people not Fawang.
Elections may result in a few adjustments to the regulations, it's inevitable.
Cheers Kevin 😎
Hey I walked past you when you were filming the shots outside the petrol station at the start of Nana. Wanted to come and say hi but you looked busy and you were filming a take. Nice video - very interesting 👍
Stop and say hi next time!!
@@BangkokPat will do!
just came back from Samui, Chaweng especially is heaving with shops. Pre rolled spliffs at one resorts bar. is quite pricey but alot better grade. Cheers fot the vid
Laws and regulations will change over time to give an advantage to the big players and wash away the outsiders
Talking to some old timers up here in Alaska, there's still a *free market* ...
Was in Bangkok last week and could not believe how many weed shops they were. On Monday I could not get a beer due to the religious festival.
Pros: It gives us more TH-cam videos to make. Cons: The videos get demonetised😂
Remind me not to make a weed vid
you would think the cannabis companies would provide ads for these videos.
Ads not running but not demonetized as far as I can see, I tested it
Hundreds of thousands of people going to Thailand to truly relax. That is what I like.
The 500-900bt a gram is imported its not grown by the Thai farmers...they grow Thai stick/bush and I usually get 10g for 300bt down Jomtien market its probably even cheaper elsewhere
Smoking some weed and then cruising Nana Plaza sounds like a uplifting vacation activity 😎😚.
It was nice man, I highly recommend it. I will definitely be smoking weed on my next Thailand trip. Smoking and going to visit the southern Islands is also amazing
@@UrMothersLoverr This makes Thailand the whole package in terms of enjoying yourself and being free to partake in the occasional toke
i myself as a tourist spent about 1000 AUD on weed in bangkok over xmas, plus the many 1000's spent on restraunts, hotels, taxi's etc... cant imagine we offended anyone during that time plus all the support we gave the economy, surley a no brainer as a positive for the people of thailand...
Same situation in Canada. 0-Lots in seemingly no time.
Been smoking cannabis even before it was legalized in Thailand. Compared to hard drugs like meth and yaba, cannabis is the less you should be concern of. I support the legalization of cannabis.
Was nice to see my Tweeter reply in the video. Great content Pat.

THAILAND OPENS UP. HK JUST MADE IT LIFE SENTENCE TO CARRY ANY CBD PRODUCTS INTO HONG KONG, EVEN CREAMS.....
Different Pat, not my bag, but it’s never going away. I was in Hua Hin last week, didn’t see a blue sky, due to the pollution, but better than Bangkok!!
Big boost for their economy. We're all these stores empty before it became legal.
The hemp seed oil is wonderful for my arthritis and my massage lady says my skin has gone soft and beautiful.I couldn't buy it in Thailand .
Unbelievable that there are already 926 weed stores 😱 in Bangkok. Could limit the type of tourists who come to holiday in Thailand 🤔🤔
That's amazing. And it's without 7 Eleven jumping on board.
I don't drink, and I'm guessing that the 926 weed stores are dwarfed by the number of bars and clubs, yet that's never stopped me visiting Thailand! If you don't want it, don't go in!
there are already enuf tourists here. move on
@@leebee2348 the usual silly response.
Thailand is unquestionably one of the centres of the global drug trade.
What makes you think that someone selling grass isn't signposting or dealing Ice,Smack,Coke or Crack?
Thailand ,Laos,Malaysia,Cambodia etc. ferry these things on a global scale.
You know all that anyway.
Like most new things there is a boom now. However I can’t see all the cafes staying open like coffee shops etc there can only be so many of them at once . excellent ending with the thumbs up 👍 Pat 😂
Fond memories of golden Buddha sticks in the 70s,around 10 bart each...
I say "Up to you". But personally, anything that alters your mind (inc booze which I enjoy in moderation) has risks. But I dont tell others how to live their life's Pat... cowabunga Dude!

Reading it back, I can now see why thats what you thought I was doing! When in fact, it was meant to add a personal touch to it! Maybe I'll edit it it!
Personally I have never been a user but I find the whole discussion fascinating. Yes there are pro's and con's but history has shown that there's no point making it illegal so at least put some form of regulation in place and allow people to use safely. Eventually it will be legal in Australia where I am from so looking at how Thailand handles this.
Marijuana doesn't make people violent or die of an overdose. Legalizing it just takes the profits away from the criminal element.

Thailand is the most liberal country in SE Asia yet they can be conservative in other aspects of their culture. Regardless of availability of weed, its up to you the invidual. And there is a short phrase in thai - gaw laew taak, its up to you . Thanks Pat for your upload

Say any criticism of the king or buddha and spend years in jail.
I use cannabis strictly for medical purposes. Good to have in Thailand without worrying about the legal issues
Medicinal purposes, so you are well within this hazy law!
Bangkok and Thailand attracting the wrong type of tourists?? never!!
Pros: Prosperity, with the right and wise people educating and cultivating cannabis tourism Cons: Slum, with the wrong ignorant people abusing disrespecting existence of other people
Interesting to hear about this Stuff. Not my cup of Thea, but I always like your Clearly Information Pat. 🙏

Great video Pat
Just got back from a 4 1/2 month sojourn.Never touched the Cannabis.Wish I could rekindle the relationship with The Herb like I had many years ago.But it seems there is no time to Get A Buzz. There are so many other matters to be dwelled upon in this part of the World.Maybe I’m just getting Old.
With regulations, I think it can greatly benefit Thailand .
With Russians and Chinese wanting to escape their countries visas are a long wait and prices going up.
Oh man, that reverse shot was so dope (pun intended)
Fantastic that someone finally noticed.......!!!!
Right or wrong...the good of society.

It's an often complicated minefield out there.
After the election expect many rules as shops breaking the law as only nonhigh hemp is legal under the law.
