On my UK spec 2010 Zafira B with the Z16XER engine, I found that I had to press and hold the reset button _before_ turning the ignition on (then keep the button held until it reset). The brake pedal wasn't necessary.

You need to reset it yourself. Car doesn't know that it was serviced unless you "tell" it.
