A year ago a was about to add Just a Dream into my Spotify playlist but I noticed something feels off about the song and it's not as good as I remembered. Now through this video I realized that I've been listening to a cover this whole time
I remember finding Christina in TH-cam early in her upload days of sitting at her keyboard in her room. Her passing was so incredibly sad. She wasn't just an amazing singer, she was an amazing person.
I loved how he mentioned Avi's tone and how it was edited even Avi has literally blown out concert speakers at live shows before just by going as low as his voice allowed him to
I think it’s my favorite performance of any song ever. I like a few songs better, but I’ve never heard a song just sung to it’s absolute best like that
I have a few other favourites, but basically all their covers are amazing! Same with Walk Off The Earth. Both such creative bands/groups in their own unique way!
She was the sweetest, most kind person in the entire world. Not to mention incredibly talented. She was shot in Orlando at a meet & greet by a "fan", 2 days prior to the Pulse Nightclub shooting too.

As someone that also did YT covers, I feel sooooo much nostalgia for this. It definitely hits harder when you were a part of a scene and made friends this way; I would honestly say I made deep connections with others that I would not have made otherwise, so I appreciate it more.
I've seen Walk Off the Earth live twice and no joke they played Somebody That I Used To Know with one guitar on the stage completely live. It was incredible. Sadly beard guy passed away, and I believe Marshall left the band. But they still do some amazing work!
Me saying did you just did my Piano guys. But now that I think about this is the first video I've seen where Joel listened to piano guys sooooo I can't say that. But if you listen to some of there music yo find that you shouldn't listen to it at the spa or in the tub

@@benjo3459 I think it was due to obsession, idk but perhaps he thought something along the lines of "If I can't have her, no one can" type cliche you see in movies.
Hallelujah by Pentatonix is by far my favourite cover of anything ever. It gives me chills every time. And Mitch's part is just... Its out of this world.
PTX only record what they can perform on stage exactly the same. Avi's Bass can really go that deep, he even has on numerous occasions blown out speakers with it Their version of Hallelujah brings me to tears every single time
He’s talking about the mixing, not the vocal talent. It’s incredibly hard to make Avi’s voice pop out without making the mix muddy since bass voices has really intricate high tones. Regarding the beatbox, I have no doubt Kevin can beatbox their renditions. They just sample his voice to make it snappier in the studio mix + the side chain.
also, mixing is done live as well. Any show with a microphone has an a1/audio tech who is going to be putting certain filters on the microphone to make it sound better like boosting bass on some microphones and cutting out bass on others. Can it make a bad singer good? No.Can it make a good singer better? Absolutely.
Their song, ''Run To You,'' was amazing. Like, I love the new bass singer in his contribution to PTX, but no doubt Avi's voice was the epitome of what a bass voice sounds like.
Leonard Cohen passed away the same year Pentatonix released their cover of Hallelujah, and I'm guessing a lot of people who went looking for Leonard Cohen's stuff, found Pentatonix's version and Pentatonix undoubtedly did one of the best covers of that song I've ever heard.
Joel: "Don't be sad that it's gone, be happy that it happened at all." (What my brain immediately thinks of ➡) Ethan from Unus Annus: "Don't cry because it's over, cry because it happened."
Omg the "Just a dream" song hits so damn hard. I remember I LOOOVED that song when it came out. And now knowing that such a talented artist is gone, this song hits so damn differently now. I can't listen to it without tearing up
"Just stay a kid!" I wish I could, but unfortunately I'll be filling out college applications next year. Where has the time gone? I'm not ready for all that stress.
Passed away just seems a weird way to say that when the person was murdered. Not throwing shade on you since he does it to, just saying I think it does sound weird to me.
This is making me so nostalgic. 2012-2014 really was a fun era for TH-cam covers. Production value was a little lower, there was a lot of personality, and it felt like everyone was collabing with each other. I kind of miss it, tbh.

I'm legitimately disappointed that Peter Hollens didn't make this list. His voice is absolutely phenomenal and his covers/arrangements are amazing
Yes!! I love Peter Hollens!!
@@emilygwin8388 yay!!! Yeah it would be interesting to see a collab between these two hahaha
yeah, he's pretty much as legendary as ptx
Yess!
I can't stop crying whenever I see Christina Grimmie 😢 it's so unfair, if only she got her dream to come true before she died.
PTX only record what they can perform on stage exactly the same. Avi's Bass can really go that deep, he even has on numerous occasions blown out speakers with it
Their version of Hallelujah brings me to tears every single time
He’s talking about the mixing, not the vocal talent. It’s incredibly hard to make Avi’s voice pop out without making the mix muddy since bass voices has really intricate high tones. Regarding the beatbox, I have no doubt Kevin can beatbox their renditions. They just sample his voice to make it snappier in the studio mix + the side chain.
I miss Avi's presence in the new ptx arrangement.
also, mixing is done live as well.
Leonard Cohen passed away the same year Pentatonix released their cover of Hallelujah, and I'm guessing a lot of people who went looking for Leonard Cohen's stuff, found Pentatonix's version and Pentatonix undoubtedly did one of the best covers of that song I've ever heard.
ya their cover came out like 3 weeks before he died so it was still really new when everyone went looking for Leonard Cohen stuff
Some people actually believe that hallelujah is a pentatonix' original song.
Some people think Hallelujah is a Christmas song because of them lol love them for that

Surely I'm not the only one slightly annoyed that he didnt actually include the Daft Punk cover by Pentatonix right...
He didn't include because it was supposed to be one video per artist and Daft Punk is 300mil while Hallelujah has 500mil+.
