The bible is absolutely not for skeptics. Just because you didn't grow up as a christian doesn't mean you're a skeptic. And if you bought into the ridiculous narrative as an adult you are most definitely not one. I read the bible as an adult and found it utterly baffling that anyone could believe this asinine drivel.
I think where Dan is coming from is the fact that you can apply critical thinking to the Bible, and still be able to have a robust life of faith. Many philosophers, scientists and critical thinkers throughout history have also had a good relationship to faith.

Yes, there were many highly intelligent people who believed in it, but that's because they compartmentalized their beliefs and applied different criteria to the bible than to everything else. If you believe the bible story to be true, why are you rejecting the quran? It has literally the same, if not better, justification. There's a reason christians are born in christian communities and muslims in muslim communities.
