Even if Dell chased an owl that has nothing to do with the flat top. Do you eat chicken fish or beef? I think what you put those animals through far outweigh a mistake Dell made playing around with an owl.
As for me I have done a lot of research. The Skytap is heavier and it has larger holes in the cage because they literally cut corners in some of the cage pieces. Also if you look at the top part of the Skytap, because it's rounded it will be a pain to take the cage apart and get it back together. With the Flat Top because it's flat it would be way easier to put the cage back together. I don't have a Flat Top yet but I hope to have one soon. For me if someone wants to judge me on the paramotor frame I fly, it's their problem.
I have flown a flattop and an Angel. The angel by far is better. Lighter and stronger. I can say this because I have both paramotors and have flown both. The angel breaks down easier and smaller. Easier to pack in the car trunk. Before you say what’s better or worse on the internet you might actually want to compare both on your own like I have done.
I must say I don't have much experience with either paramotor. But if you look at the Skytap, when you pull the two side cage pieces out wards, the top piece would also need to slide upwards. In my mind that would make it harder to take apart and reassemble. I just wanted to point that out. As for weight I contacted the Skytap owner and he said that it is 57lb, I then asked Dell, he saif latest flat top is 56lb. So they are roughly the same weight but the Skytap should be a little bit heavier. The Skytap may feel lighter on launching due to a different harness. You said the Skytap goes smaller. do you know what size of propeller it can handle? I'm honestly curious to know if it has a smaller cage diameter than the Flat Top.
@@austinsmith9413 Thank you for the reply… I will definitely need to do a video showing both… And I also did a video where I actually weighed both of them without the motor. Definitely more videos to come :-) thanks again
@@PPGGrandpa Can you weigh both of them with their harness? The flat top harness weighs under 3lb and the Duke harness used on the sky tap weighs 6.5-7lb according to the manufacturers. Seems like a rash decision. Of all the factors that come into play when deciding on a frame. Cant say ive ever considered whether the manufacturer had chased an owl. I know a guy that builds great frames and also hunts illegals at night, crossing the U.S. southern border. What he does on his own time is his business. Ive flown most frames. Pap, Fly products, Parajet, Skymax, skytap, flattop, blackhawk, Limitless, Gravity. Im most impressed with the Pap 1500 tinox/polini 202. Every weld is perfect, every screw is high quality stainless, fit n finish is the best ive seen. Shes overengineered in all the right places. Could probably hang a truck from Pap swingarms. I was caught in a tornado once at 1000 ft. and the Pap held up quite well. I hit the ground hard, most ppl watching thought i was dead. Pap struck the ground on the left swingarm first. Frame was bent 8 inches off center from the base, but all welds held up perfect. Anyone in Fl looking for a paramotor should see Londen Ivey. He knows the game and will get you setup correct. One of the things I don’t like about the flat top and the angel frame! is it has more motor torque twist than any other frame I have ever seen! Seems kind of dangerous to me in a way. Tucker gott posted a honest video about angel frame/ flat top And has the same conclusion as me. way too much motor torque twist! You can see it on some of my videos I’ve posted with John flying the frame.🙂 have fun and fly safe
More tork steering is caused by wider hang points. Wider hang points give the pilot more weight shift authority and effect to counter the the increased tork steer that you are complaining about. If you are not used to having as much weight shift ability from habitually flying a paramotor with narrow hang points that prevents you from having the ability to weight shift you will naturally not develop the feeling for or use of the weight shift ability of a wider hang point paramotor leading to a feeling of it having "to much motor tork" . Dell deliberately designed it so that you can easily overcome the tork steer with weight shift which decrease the drag of having to pull brakes to keep you going straight ahead or to turn! Another advantage of wide hang points is much greater resistance to riser twist that will kill you ! Get training from Dell to learn how to weight shift correctly and you will learn how to anticipate the greater tork steer from the wider hang points and actually use the much greater weight shift abilities of the Flattop to more than overcome the slightly increased tork steer.??? The lighter weight and unpadded harness is specifically designed to assist with weight shifting by being unpadded with more freedom of movement side to side. And there's more weight shift ability in a wider seat because there's room for you to actually shift your weight! Use it !
