My mom's had a 1996 E36 328i since it was brand new, bought it with literally 10 miles on it, and still has it. Full optioned interior, convertible top. It still has under 100k miles. It's such a wonderful little car to drive on backroads, even in spite of it's little 90s BMW quirks.
This is my ideal spec E36. I'm an outlier, I prefer sedans over coupes when possible. All things considered, it's aged INCREDIBLY well-probably thanks to the upkeep from the owner!
The intake induction noise adds so much to the overall noise. Also what a drastic difference how good this sounds compared to modern BMWs. Modern ones just seem farty. This sounds like actual motorsport.
I just sold my manual sedan along with my e46m. It was a super clean example and I will always love that car. I have an e92m3 and it’s nice but I’m not in love with it yet. Old BMWs are just so good
What a great car! I know the 36 sometimes gets overshadowed by the 46 and the 30, but it’s a terrific car! And this is going to make sound like an old ass man, but it’s cool to see younger people appreciate these “older” cars. Thanks for the great drive Gents!
Ironically I was in Bloomington IN yesterday visiting my kid at school and saw an M3 4/5. I told the family to wait up a bit so I could take a closer look. It was a clean car. Same color combo as this one.
As an E36 owner for some reason, I had a big feeling he was gonna pop the hood open through the corner light as soon as I saw that he didn't have one. Gotta find that good place to grab the cable and pull 😅
And the body and the chassis and all of the chassis components and the transmission and the suspension and the wheels and the interior and the.. everything else
@@M-t3ch tbh whenever someone says 250k miles i just think of the engine not suspension etc. obliviously no one is gonna keep that shit stock or eventually you need to change it. 250k is impressive.
@itstoliyyeeeeeeee 100% anything by 200k is dead on a lot of cars. These especially, because they get driven hard. You could nurse it along to 300k with the OG parts, but then why bother buying an M3?
Man, I shouldn’t have clicked on this. I just sold my ‘97 M3 4/5 this past spring. I miss that car and wish I would have kept it. Stupidly, I listened to my wife who hated it and wanted it gone. I think she just didn’t like that I spent more time and money on it than her…lol
I’ve been married 13 years and realized about 5 years in that my wife doesn’t need to like my car. I love it and it brings me joy on a daily basis. When we go out, we take her car. 👍
This is why I love BMWs with all their faults. The sound of that inline 6 is a symphony. While they are imperfect in many ways, they are the car I have always looked to since the 1970''s. 3 series only.
If I was going to have a reaonably priced bmw it'd probably be an e36 m3 set up like this. I much prefer the e36 sound to the e46, even if it's down on power. Plus it just looks amazing.
Did I miss something? 250,000 miles but he said it’s a different engine? Because it blew up? So it’s not 250,000 miles. I have a 2004 eclass w211 225k! Only new thing is the mounts, aux and main battery.
5 speed torque converter automatic. The swap is very easy on these relative to most manual swaps. Basically a clutch job with a couple more parts needed and a few extra steps.
I think thats more so because he wanted to. I have 228k miles on mine, mostly everything is original except for a few oil seals and other normal wear items
Hm, a quarter million miles on a chassis is not impressive. Especially in a region where rust is not a huge problem (unlike Austria for example, fck liquid road salt).
I'm glad you enjoyed the car! It's taken a lot to get it here but it was worth it.
14:38 is my favorite part.

Hello
Owner here, I am glad you like it! By 200k they need everything. It took a lot to get it here but it's awesome as it sits.
just bought a 98 m3 coupe with 230,000 miles. pick it up in a couple days and super excited

what a beautiful sound this E36 makes

Not a BMW or a 6 cylinder guy, but that engine sounds sooooo good!!
6:41 I knew TheTopher is going to drive the M3 when WR dropped the 2024 Kia Forte GT POV video.

7:18 that was a PROPER send
beautiful. not enough car reviewers do this
With the engine rebuild and all the new parts it's really a 250k mile car.
That sound is magnificent, very mechanical, but not overly so, and that exhaust is really tasteful
The missing turn signal for the hood release 😂
There aint anything with 250k miles on this car other than the odometer…
And the body and the chassis and all of the chassis components and the transmission and the suspension and the wheels and the interior and the.. everything else
@@hhasteSort of. Original engine (except head gasket), trans has 230k (manual swap). Everything else mechanically has been replaced lol.

sell the wife and buy the car back.. u will be happier

That sound is truly addicting

sounds awesome

amazing video like always !

Original engine, it blew a head gasket at 254k miles. Long story, I would say it was not entirely the engine's fault.
I got a 97 BMW 318i sitting waiting for repairs:(

Hello m tech
So pretty much everything has been replaced on it...lol
A Toyota would still have all original parts...
I have both. The 250k mile Toyota wouldn't be able to survive a track day without the same work put into it.

I'm jealous, boomers have inflated the prices here in Australia to 50k.
Just get non m3 e36
