The Helio is awesome. I’ve used one for a while and it’s great to use in primitive camping areas. I’ve got some checkers from the dollar store I use to level the stove. Works great.
I’m 52 years old and am living in Columbus Ohio and I just got the itch to spend more time outdoors, camping . I went twice this summer as I slowly pick up equipment, my goal is to learn how to find these places and I did download the Gaia maps but I need to join the site and start finding these back roads on public land. I too am a Christian and love the Word of God it bring peace, joy and a bit of fear if that makes sense lol. Maybe I’ll run across you someday and maybe pick your brain on what I need to do to be successful in my overland experience !!!
Brian: Glad to hear you are a follower of Jesus! I started with barely anything (see my second video) and have gathered a lot of things which I sometimes think are too many and want to go back. But most of them make my time more enjoyable vs. the pain of packing them. Do you have a tent yet? Thanks for watching!
Amen to that! I am watching a channel on TH-cam called Meat Church and he provides some great BBQ'ing recipes as well and believes in chicken thighs more than breasts. Thanks for watching!
@RubiconMatt, Matt very much appreciated your encouragement message, spectacular views and camping, Amen and God bless the Queen and her her family, Amen and God bless you and your family keep doing what your doing brah love your channel hang loose see you on the next adventure, stay safe and safe travels brahda 🙏👊🤙👍✌
Matt, one thing i've learned with my T4 Overlander, is that if I hook the rain fly to the hubs before pop up the middle, they line up perfectly and give coverage to the hub stiching areas.
Me too. Great tent. It survived 25 nights on my cross country road trip to Nevada. Also in very high winds, if you tie the rain fly guys to the tent pull out rings, it stops it from collapsing…..survived 65mph wind in South Dakota.
Thanks for watching and I agree regarding how to install the rain fly. Season 4:E1 my tent experiences high winds and rain. Not sure if you watched it. God bless
Thanks for your videos Matt! I was able to find the Hipcamp site from your last video there. We stayed over Labor Day weekend at the Edge of the Woods site as One Tree Hill was already booked, but the non-stop rainy weather ended up driving us away. We toured a few of their other sites and level ground is definitely a premium if you can find it. We will be trying out One Tree one of these weekends hopefully. We picked up a new Ranger Tremor that we are going to be overlanding with, your videos are definitely giving us good places to try out!
I hope to get out there a couple more times myself. I have not checked out any of the other sites other than the one you drive by going to the One Tree site. Maybe we will run into each other sometime. do you have a roof top ten or ground tent or sleep in the truck? Thanks for watching!
Another great episode Matt. Agree with you about setting up at night, hate feeling the bugs bombard my face. I have a nice Back Diamond light with a red light which doesn't attract the bugs but not enough light to accomplish much. Normally I share your views on most topics but must go the other way on the chicken, much prefer the dry white meat. :) God Bless
I do have a red light option and did not think to use it, thanks for the tip. It's ok about the white meat, we all got our hangups. God bless you as well! Have a strong week.
Great video. Definitely dark meat chicken thighs. I am familiar with that Hipcamp but haven’t stayed myself but added to my future list. Personally I appreciate the Giai GPS maps you share. It’s great to know you’ve found nice overland trails in the area as I love leaving the asphalt.
Thanks for watching! I am going to try other sites at this Hipcamp. I have not tried the others and they look like some of them could be as good with different environment. Definitely you should go! God bless. I with ya on the dark meat.
This is a Hipcamp site so you do have to pay a nightly fee & reserve the nights in advance. But you are more remote than a state park type of camping and more in the woods. Hope that helped! God Bless!
@@OldWoodyOutdoors I agree I camped not near where the fire ring is, if you watched my video I camped in a spot that was flatter. Sometime I will hike up in the woods and backpack camp. It was nice up there.
I love the Gazelle tent as well! Roomy and I like the thick fabric and how easy it is to set up and that I can stand up in it. Thanks for watching!! Email me at Matt@rubiconmatt.com and I will give you the name. God bless!

Great idea and thanks for watching!
Plus the Helio is a game changer when it comes to cleaning up!
Love your down to earth videos with good words from the Lord.
Honu- Thanks for watching! Stay strong in the Lord!
New sub ! Liked 🐸😊🔥🐸😍🎉
Thanks, I appreciate you watching and enjoying and subscribing!
I enjoy white meat, mostly chicken breast that is skinless but what you cooked up does look good!

Nice video, Matt!
Thanks for watching! I enjoy overlanding and camping!
I’m approx 20 mins from the site of this location. But not sure of the name. Is it McKee Farm?
I believe you are right. Good place to camp.

Hi Matt do you have to pay or let any body know your are going to camp there or ask for permission ??? Thanks for sharing

Hi Matt , did you do a video when you stayed at Bigfoot Camp ?
Yea I did it was S3:E8 & S3:E9. Hope you had a good time there. Thanks for watching! Have a great Labor Day weekend!
@@rubiconmatt we loved the camp but not the fact nothing was level. Should he put a level tent pad somewhere it would be awesome
