Matthew is the only Assassin that can beat the Dragon without wasting the Regal Blade (this is only because of their supports).
Here are some calculations:

The chance of this is actually a 0.00000042949673% chance (roughly 0.00000043%). Pretty sure the original comment instead calculated it as 0.16^7 and then added an extra 0 by mistake, as 0.16^7 is indeed roughly 0.0000027%.

I do have to unfortunately point out that FE6 & 7 don't show the first number of the critical hit chance. Matthew's skills with those supports from his allies give him 116% chance to crit, not 16%. He can't proc silencer/lethality on the final boss, but he will crit every single time.
@@Thecommander248A year late, but that's not quite how that works. Matthew has 16% chancd of critting the fire dragon, plain and simple. The uploader just RNG abused the game so each one of the hits was a crit.

This dragon was hard as hell. I lost 5 units to him. Luckily I still was able to beat him on my first attempt, cause I would NOT want to restart the whole chapter again!

+LeoKingdom69 Or what you can do is let the boss be the one to attack, you just wait within your units attack range and let the dragon attack, then you back out, send someone at 37< HP in to their attack range and heal the guy you just pulled back, or do what Cendril did and make sure Eliwood doesn't get doubled, send him in and use Physic on Pent or Athos to heal him

As unusual and compelling as Matthew's storyline is when compared to your typical Fire Emblem thief, he simply cannot match the brilliance found in Legault's character supports. The two thieves share a lot in terms of experience, but while Matthew becomes a grief stereotype after Leila's death, playing out various scenarios of romanticized pain, anger and recovery, Legault's dialogue shows a level of introspection and self-awareness that most video game characters cannot hope to manage. Whoever wrote those supports did so with a level of humanistic concern that is truly rare in a Fire Emblem game, and could only really have found a home in Rekka no Ken.
Good point. The ''secret war'' story along with the complexity of certain characters is what makes FE7, to some, the best Fire Emblem in terms of characterization and story.
+Chris McBennett. There are games with stories then there are stories with games. The latter is where the story-telling is so good it goes beyond just being a game. SO MANY characters have left me with unforgettable memories about their lives. I think to summarize it, it is to see the portrayal of the best of traits in humankind, as silhouetted in the face of dark conflict. I think the game portrays Nobility as it should be.

This final boss seems pretty pathetic in terms of scale, seeing as its just 1 Fire Dragon, and Roy (a much weaker character than Eliwood) kills these things with his personal weapon like Brigands in the first few chapters, while Eliwood, Hector, and Lyn have a hard time killing 1, and while Roys enemies are War Dragons, they were made for combat so wouldnt that make them stronger?
Zero Ace This drives me nuts when playing the two games. Roy kills Idenn, a demon dragon, in a single round (or crit) using the sealed sword if he's leveled, but somehow a single, generic fire dragon (weakened by Ninian at that) poses a threat to the three lords with their legendary weapons, and Athos?
Not only that, but Eliwood slays Ninian with a single blow using Durandal in the story, and Ninian is able to kill 2 fire dragons and seriously wound a 3rd with a single attack in the second half of "Light." So someone please explain to me why Eliwood does so poorly against a single fire dragon...

Ah the horse thing is actually a pretty interesting idea, never thought of that before. Still, I was pretty disappointed with the bossfight (thankfully I played fe7 before fe6 so I wasn't really aware of how strange it was). In the end, if the dragon's gate opens and fire lizards spill out into the world, all you'd really need is a couple of dudes with luna tomes to handle it.

+Zero Ace I guess these three fire dragons were ancient (possibly gatekeepers?), so their power far surpasses the mass produced war dragons. As far as Idenn goes, the Sword of Seals is supposed to be exponentially more powerful than the divine weapons (which still barely scratch her).

@zetadiamond063 he has A support with Guy and B support with Oswin. supports boost stats (albeit hidden), which likely made matthew's critical near 100.
It's from Fire Emblem: Rekka no Ken, which translates to Blazing Sword. It's just known as Fire Emblem in North America though, since it's the first one to be officially released in english.

@DragonDrummer8 If you recruit Nino and save Jaffar from being killed in the previous chapter, you move onto an 'X' chapter, and the boss drops a 'Fell contract', which allows you to promote a Thief to an Assassin.

From a lore perspective this actually isn't impressive: Ninian states that the 3 dragons are actually children and the surviving one you fought is already weakened by her magic (the other ones probably died because the took more damage as they were closer to the source of the spell)
No Ninian sent those two back through the portal. She literally just orders them to get back and go to sleep. And considering her gentle soul, I doubt it meant she killed them.
One thing I hate about assassins is when you fight someone with a lot of health and when the assassin has lowered their health down to 3 or something the next is a silencer attack. God damn it, jaffa cake. ._____.
He plotted out every RNG until he saw a string of super low #'s at the correct intervals of his attacks, then reverted to the save state before the use of those RNGs, and rolled through the RNGs until the correct sequence was about to show up again.
No kidding on the abuse of RNG. The odds of getting eight 15% crits in a row is 0.15^8, which gets you 0.00000026, or a 0.000026% chance of occurring naturally. In other words, approximately a 1 in 4,000,000 chance of happening.

Also, looking at this video, he doesn't really need to RNG abuse. Even if none of his hits are critical, he only need 24 shots to kill the Dragon. He just needs more Elixirs or someone Physics-ing him.
@UmbreonAndEspeon1 Actualy its Fire over Wind, Wind over Thunder, and Thunder over Fire. And that is the anima (elemental in the Japanese version) trinity of magic from Path of Radience and the FE games prior to FE 6 on the gameboy advance. There is also another trinity of magic: Anima (elemental) over Light, Light over Dark, and Dark over Anima.

Lucas Hudak It only doesn't work because Blazing Sword doesn't have the promotion abilities like silencer. That was added in sacred stones and I dont think there were fire dragons in that...unless...Now i have an urge to complete Creature Campaign.
Silencer was in Blazing Sword. In fact, I think it's a lot easier to trigger Silencer in Blazing Sword than Sacred Stones.
There aren't that many things in Sacred Stones that aren't in Blazing Sword.
And god bless it, because Silencer is, in my opinion, one of the coolest animations in any Fire Emblem game.
Nonaggress and after a lot of searching it appears you are correct. Funny, my recent play through no abilities happened and one wiki page implies it only being added in sacred stones. And yes I had animations on so I would have noticed.

@ultradinosaur123 Well, Legault and Jaffar do 2 damage when they are fully supported. Plus, their support doesn't give him high Crit bonuses, you would either use Filla's Might on your Assassin to turn it to 12 damage per attack. Your choice

alright what i mean by the whole arena save state issue is you savestate right before you level and then try the arena over and over again until the level you gain is satisfactory ex. you enter the arena win and only gain hp if you revert to said save and try the arena again under a different price you may gain hp str luck and def.

Damage dealt. Matthew, even with maxed stats, can still only do 5 damage to the dragon. Legault and Jaffar, even with their supports, won't do enough to solo the dragon.

That is false. Crit does show the first digit. Search “critger” on google images and see. That is not hacked and can also happen in FE7 (though >100 crit needs hacks in this game because 35 (wo Dao)+15(class bonus for sword master)+14(skill)+5(s rank bonus)+25(supports) is 94).

@@kaidenmcgillivary1881 It's neither. It's intensive RNG abuse. Fire Emblem doesn't work on a true random system. It works on constantly seeding a random number (probably starting from 0). Because of this, there are ways to bump to seed the seed up to a series of numbers you want (such as ones that will allow for 8 critical hits in a row) such as screwing around with pathing which will use up one of these seeds if done correctly.

I don’t think anyone would actually want to use the fell contract on Matthew over legault if at all, assassin is not very good, all things considered and you even lose the option to steal non-weapons from enemies. However, Matthew do be soloing that dragon so he’s living his best life. (Other than the Leila thing but we won’t speak of that)

Cool. Sadly, Matthew does 0 damage to the Dragon even with 20 Strength, and the Regal Blade. The supports allowed him to do damage. You did show this though.
