Nice video. I picked one of these up and its a pretty nice little vehicle for the price. The scale details are top notch (better then on my Axial's)! Needs some tweaking but that's part of the fun. All of my 24th scale crawlers end up getting aftermarket upgrades thrown at them. For a new person or someone who likes to trick out their rides...for $80ish USD...this is a winner in my opinion.

The button on the transmitter is for the light brightness, not a gear selector.
Thanks for your comment. You might find the faster speed has slightly brighter lights than the slow speed.
So yes. The lights are slightly dimmer in slow speed.
That’s what I found on mine anyway. Try the speeds and tell me if yours is the same please .

I totally forgot to ask. Is the 2 speed function electronic? By that I mean if it’s a change in electrical power to the motor.
Or is it a mechanical 2 speed? One where a micro servo changes the gearing in the transmission itself.
Speed function is electronic only. No additional servo.
The brass on the fms cost as much as the wltoys lol

Not sure how a feel about it. Twin vertical plate is a weird choice with the way they have everything positioned in the chassis. The body details and lights are nice though. Also the axle design is REALLY weird.
Also is it a true mechanical two speed shifted via servo? Or electronic where the esc limits voltage/motor output?

The price of upgrades to get it to the FMS level would cost more than twice the price of the car!

I feel Wltoys missed the mark on this one. The 24th scale community is geared more towards performance. From what I’ve gathered, this particular model seems to be suited for scale looks.
Most of my rigs are WPL, and setup for scale looks. The only two I have that are setup for performance are my two SCX24.
I suppose it might be fun to attempt a scale build with this truck. I just don’t see many people rushing to get a 1/24 truck for a scale build. I hope that doesn’t become the case.
I’d like to film it, but for now I’ll refrain from purchasing one. I hate saying that. I just don’t have enough to go on to recommend it.
Wltoys has many great rigs and I hope the aftermarket supports this model. It’s wonderful that they’re making an affordable 24th scale, and $85 is affordable, but not if you have to spend $100 to get it moderately capable.
Thanks for the thoughts . It is definitely more of a scale truck at the moment but to be honest I think the potential for mods is good on this. Might actually be better to start with a cheap platform.
Honestly I have a scx24 bronco. I think that also suffers the same issues as this wltoys . It’s cog is also high and the rear is so heavy due to the same reasons. Maybe more so as it’s a hard body. But also looks great. I don’t think the other scx24s have this problem. Only the bronco.
Not gonna lie... that cam you've got there imma pick this kit up and strap the cam to my wpl c24 I think it should be about the right scale

Yes you can use a larger battery on the cam.
But most likely it won’t fit in the battery holder. Not an issue.
The battery holder is removable. You could just tape a larger battery to the camera itself.

In terms of the wltoys it looks really nice but I imagine some larger tyres and abit more grip that thing will be a little beast (could benefit from the electronics being moved forward as you mentioned for weight distribution) but I don't think you would really need much modding and I respect you wanted to test the car bone stock to show people what they are getting in the box
- something to note - if you look at the steering linkage ballend note how thin it is at the end of the ball - someone had already covered a video showing his servo arm snapped at this point so if possible maybe look at an alternative to the servo arm for reliability as I expect it will break
If you have a 3d printer or know someone with one it maybe an idea to just print a thicker ballend
