@laneydreams You are welcome. I'm serious though, it's very inspirational to visit the museums here in the Netherlands 🇳🇱. I visited Het Rembrandthuis in Amsterdam with school trips a few times and privately as well. Went to the house he was born in 1606 in the city of Leiden. But we have many more masters and museums and their houses. I recommend het Rijksmuseum and het Mauritshuis, don't forget to go to the van Gogh museum as well. Anyway,...great looking painting 👍.
I think you struggled finding the right colors because Rembrandt didn't paint alla prima always he used a base with earth colors, then probably a dead layer where he would built some texture and then glazing. You could of course start straight with color but for these type of jobs most of the colors and the effects will be obtained using glazing. Just my thought. I liked it as a quick study though
I can see that! You’re right about his first layers, like many of the old masters he did indeed apply a burnt umber (or other comparable color) base before he began! For this particular painting, I don’t know why I bypassed that step lol. But I learned my lesson!
Rembrandt copied other painters his study of art. He used pre-camera techniques to paint his famous work, so cheating is nothing new. This piece allowed you to show the world you’re a really excellent artist and it worked.
I honestly feel like colour picking on the ipad probably messed you up more, I've tried it and the colours were very inaccurate. The struggle is real trying to get accurate colours on a device.

Nice forehead cam, and that bugger looked like a Picasso. Great work, you should visit the many museums in my country.

you should sillier and goofier with your paintings i think
I agree and I believe I will 🤝
You're too hard on yourself. 99% of people on the planet couldn't paint that portrait a quarter as good as that.

That’s very interesting! I’m gonna have to look into how the old masters achieved their level of excellence and learn. Thank you so much!!

Yess I totally agree!! I would have been better off without the iPad, I just need to train my brain to understand colors haha
