Adam Savage makes tons of replicas of props, and I believe his motto is that it 1 has to be your own and 2 more important than100% screen accuracy is that it just feels right. And for me this does capture the feeling of that first contact cube and it is your own. So I would say mission accomplished! That is a lot of work and a beatiful result. Best of luck to you in 2025.
You know what. I think your cube is pretty amazing! And you should be proud of your model. And hope that things get better for you. Look forward to the winamo project. Loved that program.
Congratulations! This is without a doubt, one of the best fan made pieces of Star Trek memorabilia, but then again, you're well versed in such things. ;)
Despite the very slight differences in surface relief, I would chalk that up to a borg cube is a ship that is continually growing as new species are assimilated. That said, maybe yours could be considered a slightly older, or younger version than the screen model. Great job. Any Trekkie would love to own that model. I certainly know that I would.
Thank you so much for sharing this. I was working on a 3 foot wide Borg cube, based on the first one. Started in 04, but a year ago, discovered rats had got into it, and literally ate all the cardboard foundation layer out of it, along with gnawing on most of the bits. Sadly, the model was lost, and at 70% complete, had to be dismantled, and disposed of, for health reasons. Used a box for a 24" CRT monitor and built layers of discarded model bits all over it, along with model kit stems. Really miss that model.
Oh no 😮 it's a shame all the bits were disposed. You might have been able to rebuild it after cleaning. I had a polar lights ent a that got ratted while in storage. Was going to clean it up and rebuild it. Sadly it was left behind in the move and I think it's been chucked now.
@@MD_Builds Unfortunately, the rates did a fair job of rounding all the bits to unrecognizable lumps of plastic. A shame, really. Many parts came from model kits which are now discontinued, and cost mega bucks to get. Guess that's what I get for storing it in a non-environmentally controlled room for several years. LOL ;)
Wow, that Borg cube looks awesome! Can't wait for more content. The motion control camera rig sounds cool! Those special effect shots you're trying to do sound tricky in general. I would reduce the amount of smoke in the explosions though.
This is a thing of beauty. It looked like it was being built for an actual movie production.
I am currently trawling through a re-watch of Star Trek.
Your Borg cube looks amazing and they were always my favorite baddie.
Wow! Persistence is not futile!

I'm speechless... this prop is absolutely world class... a Masterpiece !!!
I just couldn't resist seeing a Borg cube recreated. Amazing result! And a physical Winamp sounds like good nostalgic fun
@@ac6158 yeah looking forward to that. Though already been blocked by one mechanical issue :p madness insues
Attention to detail feels like an understatement here. Really outstanding job on this!

Incredible. Love this.
You should sell these greebles as a kit.
Has anyone ever told you that you genuinely sound like Jared Harris? Uncanny
Great video man, love some good model building ✌🏻
@@gone-homelol no noone told me that :p
I'm an awful speaker though. He's got a great voice.
I love the chunkier look. It's reminiscent of the Voyager Borg cubes.
What a fabulous project so many years in the making. Very impressive work and thanks for documenting it.
Wonderfull work. Bravo.
A fine achievement. I'm sure no two Cubes are assimilated the same.
Very impressive work! Looks fantastic!

@@ThomasGrillo uuggghh been there too. Same for the entA that polar lights kit is hard to come by in the uk.
After closely following your progress on Twitter for so long, this was an extremely satisfying video to watch. Well done!

This is amazing!
The amount of work and details the cube has is incredible. Can't imagine how many hours it must have taken!
@@AetCount many.... Many many many many *giggles and laughs as the insanity of it takes over!
Wow mate, this looks awesome and is fully overkill tbh.
🔥🔥🔥 Masterpiece! ❤❤❤
That's fantastic! Now build a 1:1 model.
Amazing work!
Awesome
17:18 if i ever endeavour to make one, i'm going to sneak a Stargate in there. :))
The only thing that ( for me would make it better) is having a few Akira, streamrunner , Norway, class ships and a disabled defiant around it .
There will be :D
When your mom told you to go out and make new friends, I don't think she was referring to this!
But now I have Trillions of friends to talk to in my head!
Did you use First Contact Cement to glue it together? lol 😂 should I get my coat 🧥. Amazing work.

nice one internet stranger
as an artist i can understand the need for accuracy to the original.. but tbh. i like yours better with the stronger reliefs
