Thank you so much. With the rising cost of living and how that is affecting my disposable income I have more and more been buying "drug store" make up. And frankly, along with the benefit of being affordable, I have actually preferred the more affordable products. I have always refused to pay large amounts for mascara because high end wasn't really much different. But I have found foundations, blushes, lip products that rival high end. Now I am moving into eye product and this video was such gift. Thank you.
Physicians Formula has gorgeous blushes, as do Essence & Wet n Wild, Milani & Flower. If you haven’t tried their powder blushes (or even cream in some), you definitely should!
Yes! I love Physicians Formula blush/bronzer/highlighters. There is ampallete on Amazon for like $15 that has 2 of each in the pallete and a pallete for each finish.
You can get more use from your Elf Palette. It has 4 shades so you can mix them to make them lighter or darker. I use my lid to mix those. I hope that helps you use all of them.
Here's your justification, Mandy: you buy the high end so you are able to show what's worth our coin and what we can skip using drugstore products instead. You save your audience so much money--and that's an incredible service you provide. Many thanks, as always.💕😘 However, what really interests me these days is the wear time. I find that's where the difference between high end and drugstore is very apparent. I would love it if you'd include wear time in these types of videos. Even revisiting previous dupe videos or showing other well-known or classic dupes (meaning they don't necessarily need to be the ones YOU'VE found) but with the wear-time twist is something very lacking in the TH-cam space. It could be a great series and something that could bring lots of new eyes to the channel! I hope you'd consider doing something like that. Much love, Mandy! ❤️❤️❤️
Maybe my eyes aren't as fine-tuned, but I just can't see a difference in these - they both look amazing. Your comparison videos are SO helpful and make me feel really good about not getting hung up on the marketing ploy of '$$$ is better'. Another fun one, Mandy, thanks as always!
These dupes are great! And the Elf bronzer looks perfect on you - the CT bronzer looks a little greyish compared to the Elf and at the $40 savings that’s a win- win!!👍🏻
I am so happy to hear you say you are going to get back to your drugstore content... I enjoy it all and have products from most price points, but your drugstore content is my favorite, and I have really been missing it. I kind of think, everyone does high end, and you have a great eye for really great drugstore makeup. Add to that the impending (so they say) food shortages, energy shortages, and impending job losses coming this winter, we all need to tighten our belts 😳😬
I guessed high end was the right hand side, the eyeshadow is popping more than the left side. I would love an end of day check in for these types of dupe videos because things can go downhill fast with some drugstore products. Some have okay longevity but others are rubbish particularly eyeshadow palettes and foundations. That being said I use the wet n wild dewy foundation and it’s good!!
Right. I feel like I spend extra on the pricier makeup because it wears better. I work full time plus, so I need my makeup to be flawless all day with no touch ups. I don’t feel drugstore holds up like the luxury brands do.
I like the "drugstore side" better, it is amazing how well you chose these products. You are so beautiful and talented; it is a joy to watch you. Thank you for sharing, it does make you wonder, as you said, is it really worth spending so much money on these high-end products?
I would love to see you go back to your drugstore roots. That was how I found you originally and appreciated that you were "beauty on a budget" but over the past year that changed (and my budget didn't). Please go back to more affordable makeup or at least affordable options for high end.
I stopped buying drugstore blushes years ago bc they would fade away to nothing. I think that they’ve upped their game according to the reviews. I just bought an Almay blush (in the shade Nearly Nude 100) on Morgan Turner’s review and I’m so impressed!
Milani has some good ones but if you want quality blush, I'd recommend The Balm. It's an in-between brand, not high end, but definitely not cheap. I think Walgreens has it now.
I’m with you. In recent years I’ve gotten sucked into the higher end products, but I’m done. Drugstore has so many great products, there is no reason to pay for marketing and packaging!
@@Mrstriplejranch I used to buy mostly high end in my 20s because at that time I felt like it was truly superior to drugstore makeup. These days you can find makeup that is just as good, even better at times than high end. And now you can return/exchange anything if it doesn't work for you.
Hmmm I always see drugstore products being applied with high end brushes and sponges.... If I'm not buying high end makeup I'm also not going to buy high end brushes or sponges. I mention it because when I spent some good money on brushes my makeup application (of my same products) improved so so much and nobody talks about it!
The expensive brushes are worth the investment! With some exceptions, I feel that buying the good brush (Rephr, Sonia G, BK, etc.) is better than buying the pricey blush! 🤔🤓💸❤️
I’m enjoying your lessons. Love the dupes! Mandy do you ever review products for cleansing and skin care? I often avoid makeup for fear of removing it!
Each high end product is roughly 5x the price of a drugstore one. The lip products less. The eyeshadow skewed the average! Or in other words, you can have 5x as much makeup if you buy affordable options. You can buy a LOT of setting spray and still save.
High end makeup products are an indulgence. Sometimes the only benefit of using them is the experience of their application. If applying makeup is a calming sensory experience, as it is for some of us, those products can be worth it. But most days when I just want to get out the door looking cute, I am always reaching for my drug store makeup because nobody else can tell the difference.
I agree with you - some days I enjoy pampering myself with my luxury products. I also think many times the packaging is better too. I can’t tell you home many drugstore lipsticks got ruined and also ruined my pockets and purses because the tops came off. So frustrating!!!
I agree with you as well. There is something to be said about the appeal of gorgeous packaging: the weight, the embossing, the beautiful aesthetic of seeing it on your vanity. These sensorial things all contribute to the ritual of makeup as artistry or even as self-care. Sometimes it's worth the extra expense for the joy of the experience. ❤️❤️❤️
That Pat McGraff bronzer looks "dirty" on you IMO. The warmer color of the drugstore one looks much better. Putting the blush on it does help though! Thank you for sharing all these amazing dupes!!
This was good. You might use different brushes for the different eyeshadow pallets. People are weird about crossover. I bet if you added a little setting spray to your brush for the WnW shimmers it would match even more. Just found your channel and really enjoying it! 🥰
Yes Ma'am, I am impressed. I have used some high-end products...I was Not impressed. I think if I had not seen you apply these products I would not have known. You look so pretty.
Of course it helps to be beautiful as You are! Thank You for the astounding discovery on drug store make up. I have been doing this all along, and no, I don't want to get really expensive make up it makes me really mad as to how much they are!!! I don't like to get screwed in prices, and now. I won't! Ever! Thank You!
This Pat mothership is on sale today 10/23 for $77 on your link. Still vastly more expensive than your amazing elf find. But I had to share just in case someone had been wishing with all their might for PM. Appreciate you so much!
Absolutely amazing !!!! Love those excellent dupes. Can you please list also cruelty free dupes? Some of the items here are and some not and I would love to see only cruelty free dupes 🐾💜
IMHO, the high end side looks a bit better than its drugstore counterpart, at least regarding concealer and eyeshadow, but similar nonetheless. Those two items were what made me guess the sides correctly at the beginning of the video. Curious about the wear results. Thanks for the video!
I am amazed by the eyeshadow dupe. Very impressive. I did think the Pat McGrath blush looked a tad better with your skin tone. Great video!!!! I do have to ask about your necklace, it is so pretty.
I’ve used that Elf contour palette for years and like it just as much as any other cream bronzer products I’ve tried (not many actually because I am satisfied with what I have). For me the money drain comes from buying way way too much stuff. I don’t buy much luxury makeup; I can’t stand to spend that much money. Your makeup is gorgeous on both sides!
I'm watching you for the first time! I love my Charlotte Tilbury lipstick, but I'm sold on elf! Over the last year, I've tried so many elf products and colors - and it's so easy due to the cost. I've purchased on the elf website during 2 different 60% off sales and the products are $2 and $3 dollars! I've found a few duds for me, but I'll pitch them and try again for the price.
I'm definitely an Elf convert. I read good things about their setting spray when I was planning my wedding makeup and from there I've just expanded to other things from tinted lip balms to concealer. I'm about 40% Elf, 40% Vichy, 10% Revolution.
Great dupes video and lovely look, Mandy! I guessed wrong - I thought the high end side was the left side before you started talking about the priducts!😱
Mandy, do you use a dry or wet sponge to apply foundation? It looks dry on screen. Love your shaker knit cardigan! Amazing!! that eyeshadow dupe is outstanding...
I bought the wet n wild eye palette today 😅. It’s a better formula than some of the other wnw palettes I’ve had - it feels more buttery. This created a beautiful look. Thanks for the recommendation!
@@aprilsilvers381 I need to try those. I can’t find LA Girl in any of the stores where I live, so I’d have to order online. They look so beautiful, though!
I use the other shades in the elf palette the white one as a highlighter or to tone down something that’s too Glimmery. I also use the darker shades as a grease or outer corner or even a liner for my eyes. Sometimes I use it as a contour but I do try and use our shades and I’m a light medium in the winter and more of a medium in the summer. This summer with my gardening even with sunscreen I went almost medium tan for my arms and neck I had to really dark and up my face to match my neck and everything else
THANK YOU for this video. I LOVE the all over look, how you shaded your eyes and the lip color is fantastic! I’ll definitely be purchasing the foundation, blush, highlighter, eye shadows, lip pencil and lipstick! LOVE the dupes!!!
The elf contour matches your skin tone a whole lot better. CT looks a little muddy. Just my opinion though. You look gorgeous regardless and I wish my skin was this good💖
I use the elf cream bronzer palette. The one you used as bronzer. I use the medium and light as easy eyeshadow and the dark as a liner. Easy to travel with or lazy girl day
as someone on a modest budget, I try to buy mostly drug store. The one thing I just can't seem to dupe is foundation. Drug store foundations just don't last on me, at least not at work. I teach all day, and I still wear a mask. There is a big enough difference in the wear time to spend more on some high end foundations. That said, high end foundations are not created equally. I would love some tips on extending foundation wear as well as which drug store foundations are best. I've tried loreal and it just doesn't work for me. It skips pigment.
Great video!!! There are some products from the drug store that I love and will spend my money on. Dupes for colors are one thing - how they perform, longevity etc is another thing. I won't EVER spend any money again on cheap eye shadow - I have wasted more money on trying cheap drugstore eye shadow than I care to know. They are not even close in comparison on performance or longevity. How do people not understand by now that high-end makeup is just low-end makeup (regular makeup) in expensive packaging and expensive marketing campaigns, esp when a celebrity attached to it???
Love your hair in this video! Looking very blonde! Which as a fellow blonde, I know we love when our hair is golden gorgeous! Wow! I've been so tempted to splurge and buy some high end things you've tested out for us, but after this I really don't think I need to! ULTA does the trick. I'd better steer clear of Sephora! Haha!
Oohh, also I have an eyeshadow primer dupe-but-better!.... I think the ColourPop Party Proof eyeshadow primer is really similar to but even better on textured lids than Urban Decay Primer Potion. It has a smoothing effect I really like and shadows grip to it well. 💕
Is it translucent like the UD? I've thought about trying it, but I really need something that would also cancel the discoloration on my eyelids as well as the smoothing/stickiness that comes from a great eye primer.
@@katieharris7219 it is slightly semi-transparent. I find the CP primer has a kind of blurring effect while also gripping shadows. It does not have a lot of color to it.
What a fabulous look you created Mandy! Just shows you that you don't need to spend a lot to look amazing! I know that on another video you had on a Flower Beauty lipstick - Naked Blush (020), which I had but I didn't own the lip gloss you used, but after searching in my collection I found the perfect match with NYX butter gloss in the the shade Tres Leches! just shows what you can find when you look LOL :) Love these videos! and hello from Australia!
The only thing i would always invest more money in is base products like foundation and concealer and powder. Everything else works great with the drugstore. 👍
I guessed the right side (my right) was drugstore and i was correct haha. I usually get this right when creators do the side by side, guess which one is which, game, based solely on eye shadow! Drug store eye shadows are always more pigmented where high end usually looks more subtle and blended. I actually prefer the subtle look but both are gorgeous!! Anyway, i paused the video at the start so cant wait to watch the rest!
CT bronzer would be better for contouring because it's too cool toned, almost ashy. I definitely prefer the Elf one on you...for the bronzer. Absolutely love this video- it's helpful and eye-opening. There are so many great drugstore products! Thank you for an amazing video!

Your brushes are so luxurious looking 🥰
What a fabulous look you created Mandy! Just shows you that you don't need to spend a lot to look amazing! I know that on another video you had on a Flower Beauty lipstick - Naked Blush (020), which I had but I didn't own the lip gloss you used, but after searching in my collection I found the perfect match with NYX butter gloss in the the shade Tres Leches! just shows what you can find when you look LOL :) Love these videos! and hello from Australia!
I have a lipstick dupe- Mac lipstick In Modesty = Maybelline in Rosey Risk. Colors look the same to me and the Maybelline stays on longer.
Love the Elf Pallet.
Great video…that price difference is crazy!
The quality cosmetics is seen not only by how it applies and how it looks on application but how it holds up after several hours.
CT bronzer would be better for contouring because it's too cool toned, almost ashy. I definitely prefer the Elf one on you...for the bronzer.
Absolutely love this video- it's helpful and eye-opening. There are so many great drugstore products! Thank you for an amazing video!
