It looks like a quality ash vac but it should come with a pellet stove cleaning kit that several other brands offer. That includes a very narrow hose attachment to reach small areas such as the fines catcher.
I've tried several shop vacs to remove lime dust out of my crawl space (it was used to soak up liquid in a plumbing emergency) but the vacuums all create a dust cloud that makes it hard to breathe and stings my eyes. Will this filter prevent that?
hoping I may be able to get som guidance on your Ash Vacuum model CAV150 I recently purchased this vacuum and it works great. Would like to ask if there is any information on how to properly clean both filters .. (can they be rinsed?) Would there be a video tutorial anywhere showing how to properly clean 1st stage & hepa filter?
@Cleaning How To but your video indicates there would be very little need to clean the filter, due to the metal, mesh guard, which is definitely not the case.
I am servicing/cleaning gas logs fireplace we have a lot of soot build-up at times. need to vac out without spreading anything into the home, and need something on a small scall that can be carried into the home with minimal effort. what do you recommend?
Soot is very fine and greasy - it’ll clog pretty much everything - I’d get something bagged and run it with the high efficiency bags; Hawkeye with a hepa filter swapped in would be good. Where are you based?
I bought this because of this video... im still emptying this thing every 5 minutes !! Personal i think it sucks!! I might take the filter out so it doesn't clog every 5 minutes!!
We've found there is a small percentage of people who are having issues like this; can I ask what type of stove/fire you have? I have one of these myself and honestly i think it's great.
To see me using a different Shopvac to clean up a pet accident in a carpet watch this: th-cam.com/video/iJyZSeDaejI/w-d-xo.html
That motor and filter design is brilliant!
iDIY For You it’s the best we’ve seen for the price of the machine. The fact that it has a hepa filter is game changing :)

You should write to Shopvac and tell them :)
Great video! Any instructions on how to clean the mesh pre-filter cage?
A stiff brush and (ironically), a bagged vacuum.
where do i get one and how much

You need a hepa filter on the vacuum to prevent a dust cloud! Hepa bags are also available!
@@CleaningHowTo Thanks for the quick reply. Do the hepa filters come with this particular unit or must they be bought separately?
@@seniorvoice7293 That particular unit has a HEPA, but where are you based? I'll see if I can recommend a unit.
I have the cheap vacuum which you said is rubbish and clog up after 250g , which is not true at all , it's perfect and cleans my fireplace 100%
I’ve anecdotally got about 50 stories confirming my assertion. But great you’re finding it works for you.

you can wash the plastic filters but not the paper ones; just allow them to dry fully before use :)
@@CleaningHowTo thank you
My Ash vac has the same filtration, but still have to clean the filter and mesh every 2 or 3 stove cleans.
That would be fairly standard with a bagless machine :)

@@vincepeacham7292 each end user is different . . . I can’t account for everyone.
@@CleaningHowTo that reply means nothing.
@@vincepeacham7292 it’s not unreasonable to expect to clean filters in a vacuum. It’s standard practise. What do you want me to do? Give you a hug?
Great video, very helpful in making my decision.
Glad we could help :)
