I don't think many here know who really composed this beautiful song: "You Raise Me Up" The composer is our norwegian composer Rolf Løvland from my home city of Kristiansand. At his mother's funeral, he performed the song as an instrumental version : "Silent Story" Then later Fionnuala Sherry, Irish violinist, and Rolf Løvland in " Secret Garden" , get the Irish writrer/author Brendan Graham to write the lyrics. The song came out first on Secret Garden- album "Once In A Red Moon" 2001 and sung by Brian Kennedy. Later many others performed. Jan Werner Danielsen another norwegian artist, died too young at 30ys, he was a promesing one. There is only one video, you hear him singing, but I think this record was from his funeral? But he recorded "You Raise Me Up "with Secret Garden after the Asian- tour.. Our Jan Werner is the best singer of this beautiful song, also because he put so much feeling in his voice when singing. I will recomend the other songs he recorded. And Rolf Løvland, congratulations for a master piece for ever.. The song was played today at my local radio👍

I just cant believe my luck that I found you I have been trying to sing this song for ever but with no luck. After this tutorial it was so easy. Why does no one sing the second verse to this song? There is a second verse: "There is no life, no life without its hunger / Each restless heart beats so imperfectly / But when you come and I am filled with wonder / sometimes I think I glimpse eternity." I do this song often at Karaoke (Westlife's version), and I sing the second verse over what is really an instrumental break. Also, after the second verse I build and build until at the beginning of the last iteration of the chorus I'm at rafter rattling volume, but then bring the last phrase down to where the last word is almost a whisper. People are always amazed that I sing two verses, and I've been asked if I added the second verse myself, but no -- Celtic Women do both verses. As Karaoke singers go, I'm pretty good, but there's a lot in your videos that I can (and will) use. Thank you for making your videos.

This song is truly a challenging piece. When I was young, my voice , was , as they said, was a barritone. Now it got lowered due to age. I tried to sing this piece and it really is a powerful one. Thank you for teaching and you do have a wonderful voice.
