Hi ! Living as a Doctor in the US is great. Basically US is the best place if you are a doctor. It gives you financial stability, strong education, and freedom. the work life balance is excellent, and the best thing is that you can provide maximum care to your patient without any limits! In the future, I actually planning to make a video about work, lifestyle, salary as an internal medicine doctor in the US. stay tuned!

Hi! Ideally, the earlier you know that you can come to the US, the better. Giving the exam and then finding out you are unable to come to US due to visa issue is awful. I have 10 days youtube live 6.30 pm-7.00 pm EST from jan 22-26, then jan 29 to feb 2. On jan 24 session, I will discuss about VISA for IMG. Types of visa, pro and cons, and how to obtain for each!

Hi, thanks for the info. One doubt I have is, do I get a specialization internationally and then apply for residency, or after the regular 4 years of med school, I apply for residency? Thanks

@klausstorres9051 thanks for the qs! The US just started to open spot for people to work in the US without residency, provided that you have completed residency in your home country. However, this path only start to open this year, and there are so many unknowns factor. For example: What are the criteria that the hospitals are looking for to get accepted for the position?can you work in other state after completion? Can you be board certfified? Therefore, my personal recommendation would be completion of medschool in your home country then apply for residency in the US. The path and your future is pretty clear. Hope that answers your qs!

Are there any benefits for an US - IMG??

Hi! By definition, US IMG are US citizen or permanent resident (green card holder) who completed their medical school outside US. Due to the fact that they don't need visa sponsorship, there are more programs that they can apply to, and therefore, the chance of matching is significantly higher. Hope that explains it!
