95% of youtubers videos are junk, however, occasionally you find the odd tuber who is like gold-dust. 50sKid is one the best TH-camrs I've seen to date and bet he doesn't know how good he really is. The way he explains is concise like a teacher.
I really hope he goes on to make a good income from TH-cam as people like him are the ones that deserve it, hes a genius.

You sir, are a genius. You inspired me to wanna take the whole e46 engine down by myself. I bought the car in a very bad condition, but with your videos, it's been a daily driver.

NOBODY is as useful and instructive as 50's Kid when it comes to keeping your BMW on the road. Bar none. Halfway through unbuilding my E46 and if it wasn't for this man, I would have sold it for scrap or parted it out months ago. Pay attention boys and girls. You CAN and should. Because there really isn't another car like the ultimate driving machine.

Happy to see positive progress and I respect that you didn't just let another one go to the junkyard. Can't wait to see more progress and the final product!

Great job, you make the impossible seem like building LEGOS. You are BMW's version of "This Old House" but better. Sometimes you need to think big - broker a deal with Bentley or Haynes, so videos can be created daily for various BMW's under your direction. You have a community dependent on your insight, you need to scale your strategy so you don't wear out. In the future, videos surrounding rear suspension on e46 would be really nice. Thanks as always.

Fantastic videos, Really appreciate all your hard work and sharing it with us! I did a head gasket change on my fathers 2002 530i following your videos and now when the car starts I’m getting an error that cylinder 4 misfire with fuel-cut. Please help, I have changed plugs have replaced coil pack with a new one, have checked compression and its within 2lbs of rest of cylinders. I’m stuck. One thing that did go wrong on the re-assembly was that there are 2 two prong connectors on the left side of the wiring harness splitter that sits right under intake and bolts around the throttle body. I mistakenly hooked one of them to the air valve right above with the two prong connector that only has one wire and hooked the other one which has two wires to what I think is an oil pressure sending unit which only requires one wire. This of course blew the 30 amp fuse in the box under the hood that has the 5 fuses in the black colored holder with the cover that slides sideways to access the fuses. I switched the 2 wire connectors that I mixed up replaced the fuse and the car fired right up but for some reason cylinder 4 has no spark. Also I performed a back pressure test on the exhaust and its right at + 1-2 psi. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Please anybody with any Ideas? My Dads freaking out thinking I killed his car!

This might sound like a dense question but what was the issue then? I also didn't see if you checked the transmission to see if it was also filled with the gunk. Also, how did you clear out the rest of the coolant lines and hoses of the gunk?
On a side note, love your videos man. Never had worked on my car before and I changed the oil pan gasket, controller arms, lower controller arm bushings, engine mounts, trans mounts, valve cover gasket, intake cam sensor, front struts, strut mounts and brakes using your videos (all in one shot except for the brakes, took me three days). Now I have to do the three bushings for the differential using your video and I am definitely going to donate to the cause, THANK YOU.

I have everything put back together however you mention cranking it over for a minute or so before you start it to build oil pressure first. Does that mean I should unplug the fuel pump fuse or it’s there another way to do this you’d recommend?

Do the headbolts end up a little over 50ft-lb after 40newton meters initial tq, 90 degrees one time, 90 degrees a 2nd time or is it a little over 50 newton meters?

Hey great video! If any of you could please help me out. I have a 05 BMW X3 , it started to blow a thick white cloud from the exhaust at start up . At first I didn’t know much so I started with some oil leak sealers like Bars. Then I performed a tune up , the spark plugs had oil and after changing spark plugs and coils it ran very smoothly, although i believe it did smoke once in a while and one day i drove it fast( i thought i had fixed it and got exited) and it started to misfire so i checked the spark plugs and they were oily. So i changed the valve cover gasket , it was completely roasted and i believed i had solved the problem once again but i didnt, it ran perfectly , it still does but when idle it misfires and it smokes every now and then and it is extremely embarrassing 😂and I am exhausted i dont know what else . Im sure if i check the spark plugs they will be oily, someone told me the reason it smokes could be a vacuum leak but i had someone check for one and it didnt have one. Did this car you worked on smoked at start up? Do you believe changing the head gasket will solve my problem? Thanks if anyone takes the time to read this and comment other possible fixes. Btw i seen on youtube not so old X3’s like 2010 also smoke at start up its a headache 🤕

I wonder if injectors were leaky, just cause the rail wasn’t bolted down.

  • @osfigsaz

Would you have any idea where to get the little metal clip on the injector connector harness on the x3? One of mine is on cylinder 4 which coincidentally its giving me injector circuit failure on cylinder 4

osfigsaz go to realoem and put your vin in. Then look for the part in the system. Eventually you will find it. Find the part number and look for it on ecstuning or anywhere else.

Hey bud, how much was the total costs of the rebuild? how much do you sell them knowing that all are rebuilt close to specs as possible? Thanks great job as usual... I have and x3 will 10 codes misfire, lean codes... I changed the entire gaskets and vacuum and boom!!! No codes and barely hear the engine when it comes to complete stop. Thanks for the bid I learn to go beyond my comfort zone when it comes to bmw... Next step will be tackling a head gasket replacement and can’t wait till my car goes to that time heheh

It probably ended up being about $500 because of the extra components I had to replace. Not what I wanted to find but that's how it goes
