Proverbs 23:2- “put a knife to your throat if you are given to gluttony” Christ preached gentleness, love, and understanding in the New Testament, as well as Paul. 1 Corinthians 4:21- “shall I come to you with a rod, or in love and a spirit of gentleness” He stressed discipline and direction from within, rather than directed by force from without.
