I'm from Sweden and I really love licorice. When I get a craving for sweets, I almost always buy salty licorice. It calms the sugar craving, even though it is so salty and I can empty a whole bag! Läkerol is not candy, it is something you eat when you have a sore throat or want to improve your breath before a kiss.

I’m from Denmark and I could eat an entire bag of salty liquorice just like an entire bag of wine gums or sour wine gums. Salty liquorice is a part of my pick and mix bag just like wine gums, sour wine gums, marshmallows, sugar covered wine gums and so on. I don’t think of salty liquorice as a salty thing but as a sweet thing. If I crave sweets I can just as well eat some salty liquorice and be happy. Just like I could eat some sour wine gums and satisfy my need for sweets. I don’t eat very salty food and I don’t use a lot of salt in my homemade food. To sum it up: I don’t think of salty liquorice as salty, but probably more like a thing with a potent and rich taste.

Here in Northeast USA, Western Massachusetts specifically, we have a chain called Ocean State Outlets. They buy random lots of products and sell them discounted. I love their food section! They have lots of international foods; like pasta from Italy, European Chocolates Ritter and Milka being my favorite, Indian Curries and other pre-made Indian meals, Biscuits from UK and Scotland, jams from various countries made from fruit not available in USA, etc. The prices are great I believe for example Ritter bars are $1.59. So my family has been able to try loads of items we would never find in local shopping centers! Only problem being you can't be sure you'll ever see the same products again!
No way! That is so cool and what an awesome idea. And I suppose they must get different items each time they buy the products so plenty to try. Ahh we love Ritter 😍 this is awesome. Love that you can get some curries too!! We have lots of Indian restaurants here in the Uk. One of my favourite cuisines. Oh yeah that’s the only down fall. You need to make sure you stock up if you love something. So nice you and your family have been enjoying getting to try all of these different items from around the world!

Here in finland Friday is the only day we eat candy or in some families it's on saturday (ofcourse it still depends and there may be exceptions but mostly) and we also have a candy mix called "lauantai pussi" (lauantai means saturday and pussi means bag) exspesially made for little kids around 3-9 in my opinion.
And Finnish people really do like liquorice (sorry if i spelled it completely wrong😂) and probably at least 85% of the country has eaten liquorice and most like it.
I don't myself really like liquorice but i really make my food salty like from what you asked about in the video. I don't know a really accurate answer to that question because even if we eat our food very salty we probably don't notice it and we don't really have other peoples opinions but i think it's quite an interesting thing to think about! I would really love if you would one day visit Finland wether it's in 5,2 or 3 years but it would be fun :] of course thats a hard thing to ask in the middle of Covid-19 and all the world crisis but it would be fun if you considered it some day 😊

@@FoodTastertv its a scandinavian family thing where you teach kids to only have candy 1 day a week and its normally as said friday since its unhealthy but actual adults don't follow these rules its a front parents put up to educate children that you shouldn't eat so much sweets.

Sally liqurious I usually don't get enough of because of the salt. It's usually the liqurious flavor for me. Kind of when you get that gummi taste in your mouth. (I'm from Denmark btw).

Depends... the Gin Gins are excellent for nausea... sea sickness and morning sickness. So they are often, at least around my group, used more medicinally and one at a time as needed.

Salty liquorice is not weird in Finland (and neither is pickled herring). Not everyone likes them. I can finish a small bag of noitapilli tubes with the brown paste inside. I couldn't finish a bag of tyrkisk peber because of the peppery heat.
The cactus you had was Prickly Purple Heart Cactus Pear Jam from the Friend in Cheeses Jam Company. It was in the box I sent you. Prickly pears by themselves taste a little like watermelon.

The Peanut flavor Gin Gins are not as intensely spicy as the plain ginger. And they remind me of Mary Janes (an older peanut butter molasses candy of my childhood). I highly recommend that you have the peanut Gin Gins, they are my absolute favorite.
Sounds like such a bizarre combo is it more of a flavour of PB or is there actually PB in the gin gins? Hopefully one day we can try them!!

From what I have read, the banana flavoring is based from bananas that no longer exist. Bananas that tasted like banana flavoring were killed off by a fungus (Panama disease) scientists were able to propagate a new breed of bananas that was more hardy. Unfortunately bananas are going through the same process and we need to create another breed of banana if we want something to put on top of our cereal and sundaes.
Oh my word!! Now that you say this I feel like i have a memory of finding this about the breeding of bananas out. How interesting. Sad to hear this process might have to be done again!

Kate I love your Iron Maiden shirt! I didn’t like the lightly salted licorice I tried once so the really salty ones would be so hard for me to deal with. But I love sweet Licorice and chocolate covered ones. I love looking through the international sections of the supermarkets. Not only for snacks but for the soup packets or sauces. My fave is when I see Bimbo peanut puffs. Great video!!!

As a kid, my Dad used to chew Gingered candy in the US. When I was trying to find a solution to a queasy stomach while pregnant, I would chew similar gingered candy from time to time and sip ginger beer and teas.

13:40 I'm from Sweden and when I crave savory I want crisps aswell. Licorice I can only eat quite a small amount of. I prefer the chocolate covered licorice from the Icelandic company Freyja if I'm being picky :)

I love the gin gins for morning sickness, I think the peanut ones are really good. I have also tried melting them into tea and that is even more instant relief for morning sickness nausea. (Although, the peanut ones have chunks, so that would be a good use for the super strong ones.)
I love salty liquorice! But yes, there's a limit to how much I can eat, depending on the kind. Some make your tongue kind or sore after a while, salmiak candies are worse than just salty liquorice in that way. But anyway, there are different levels of saltiness and intensity, and aaaall are appreciated 😁

I absolutely can't stand artificial banana smell/flavour, specifically because I had too much of the antibiotic as a kid.
Two of the biggest examples of you eat what you are raised on, I think, would be Vegemite in Australia and Marmite in the UK.

as a dane living in finland when i crave sweets its often liqorice cuz normal sweets are just way to sweet not a fan ( and i normally eat a whole bag of liqorice in one sitting while playing games)and i do not salt my food when i make it fyi XD (salty food is not quite the same as salty liqorice sweets) just imo
The salmiak sticks I could eat a whole bag! It´s not the same salty taste as salted chips, or salt food. We have lots of different salt candy I don´t like all of it, but it´s my kind of candy.

I like the world section at the Home Goods store. Although, I’m a little picky when it comes to the prices. When I was a child, I went to a store called Cost Plus. It had snacks and coffees from around the world plus a few furniture and Christmas ornaments etc. I think the closest one to me closed 2-3 years ago. I am Asian American, so I find my snacks at the Asian market. My International section at the supermarket I work at is slim and the prices sometimes are better at the Asian market.
We get some interesting Asian snacks at our grocery stores in Canada. Thats how I usually get the Asian snacks and candies I taste test on my channel.

I always thought I hated licorice. I went on vacation to Iceland 3 years ago and EVERYTHING has licorice in it. So many candies. I fell in love with a chocolate covered licorice called Sambo. I cannot find chocolate covered licorice ANYWHERE in the US. I crave it regularly. Can't even find licorice that is the right flavor, amount of saltiness, or texture.

Yay! I finally got my candy box I ordered from y’all. I live in west Texas and I seriously ordered because I wanted to taste y’all’s chocolate. It is yummy. I’m assuming the purple color in Jelly Tots is black currant? I’ve never had that before. Black currant plants kill our pine trees. It taste similar to something but I can’t quite put my finger on it. I didn’t think I would like the prawn chips but I actually did. Thanks y’all!

@@FoodTastertv Cadbury chocolate bars, Cadbury Caramel Bars, Freddos, Original Hula Hoops, Prawn Chips, Walker’s Cheese and Onion chips, Jelly Tots, Time Out Wafer, Chomps, and Stingers. I ordered the largest box because I’m a snack and candy freak and I have brain cancer and I don’t really spend money on myself like this so I figured if I was going to I would do the big box as a treat for myself. I always get so offended when people from other countries say our chocolate taste like vomit but that’s all I’ve ever known. That Cadbury chocolate though is creamy and rich. It’s just so good!
@@annajosullivan Im an Iranian Canadian and a food taster on my own youtube channel so Ive tried a lot of American and Hersheys chocolate . Trust me I dont think Hersheys or in general American chocolate doesnt taste like vomit at all !! In fact I like Hersheys chocolate !! To me Hersheys tastes like more pure chocolate with more cocoa and less creamy filler stuff !! That selection of snacks you got in their box sounds tasty !! We dont get most of those here in Canada !!!

Im sorry you have anxiety !!! Just so you know tea ( specially black tea ) has something called TEAIN in it ( similar to caffeine ) and it can really agitate anxiety !! I always look forward to their videos on Thursdays as well !!!

I dont know if the pastils "Lakarol" was from Denmark, but we do have them over here.. And yes they are kind of chewy and a bit hard to eat.. But most uses them as a kind of hard "bobblegum" when you just need something in your mouth to eat :)

MILKA is way too sweet specially for being German chocolate !! My fave MILKA is the BROWNIE OREO bar they made a few years back !!! I wish we got all the MILKA Bars in Canada so I could taste them all in one video LOL I bet that would be fun !!!
Look in your local gas stations or convince stores I have seen MILKA chocolate bars in Ontario Canada some in grocery stores as well.

I love salty liquorice and it goes with the same category as other sweets for me, can eat a whole bag of djungelvrål ☺️ As for food we eat quite a lot of international foods and it’s not saltier then anywhere else in my experience(the salty fish is a loooong time ago, at least in Sweden and the cities)

Hiya Kate! Hope your weeks been treating you well so far! This video had so many fun little things to try! All my friends that I have ever known from Sweden, say they only eat candy on Saturdays! And a good friend of mine from beauty school, she used to make cactus all the time! It doesn’t really have much flavor. Kinda like a green pepper when you cook it. She used it for a lot of Mexican dishes that were so amazing! 😋 you also had my cracking up when you threw it back for, never have I ever 🤣 brought back a few memories from a couple bachelorette parties 🙊🤣 wishing you, Alex and all around ya such a great week ahead! Love the video, but I think you might need to replace your main camera soon, as you can notice artifacts/large pixel "misses" during this video. That or the video card is going out.

Some brands manufacture in multiple countries , so maybe some MILKA bars are not made in Germany. But it is a German brand.
Ive had the POCKY chocolate banana flavour, its a bit of a funny story actually. Back when I first tried it we didnt officially get it here so a candy store owner that wanted his candy store to be mentioned in my videos told me he was gonna send me some to try. The package got delayed for months. it turned out the person that was supposed to send it to me had forgotten or dropped it somewhere and when the store owner finally realized it and sent me the box of it it was all molten and had become a POCKY BRICK LOL. It still tasted good though LOL.

Whats your favourite tea ?? You should try traditional Iranian / Persian tea. Its black tea with saffron and cardamom in it and also rose petals on top !!

I love the fake banana stuff. Anything with that flavor. When I was growing up there was a variety box of popscicles that was banana, root beer and cherry. I always got the banana ones because no one else in the family liked them.
I’m the exact opposite. I’ve never been a fan of anything artificially flavored banana. The mixed bag of laggy taffy, runts, or popsicles always had all the banana stuff left at the bottom. Every family needs a you to finish those 😁
