63 Bonneville. The memories. Watching the foot peg vibrate wildly in the video, reminded me of parts falling off while riding on the highway.
I lived a couple of miles from the Bud Ekins motorcycle shop. They had Steve McQueen repairing tires in the shop, preparing him for Six Day Trials.

A beautiful bike, very similar to the ex bud ekins bike I bought in 1968,when I was 15.I rode and raced that bike all over southern California, great memories!

All you need now is the start line and the smoke from the burning tires to race to and hang on. Loved that era of motorcycle racing.

Yeah… they messed up a little with that 270 degree crankshaft in current Triumphs. Those old 360 degree had really distinct sound. Oh well…

Drooling. What a fantastic motorcycle and great interview. Cool to see so much rear fender clearance and what looks likes a Bates see that would usually be used on a preunit. I actually just finished a preunit build with a loop in the frame downtube like this one! Just rode it and posted the video on my channel. Long live desert sleds!

Nice to bump into you at Triumph. I'm the "nice you've found someone professional to film you" guy. I was lucky to have Dick show me around his bikes inside the museum (did a very amateur film of it) He's such an enthusiast and loves his classic Triumph's.
Glad someone is making some films about his bikes. Keep up the good work 👍

Triumph is one of my favorites,,, it used to be excellent in 6s and 70s, spacially Triumph Tiger, excellent sound which was enhanced by Honda in 70s in their 125 twin 4-speed ring gear, box frame chassis, Triumph vanished from the market for many ears then came 900 3, in Dubai when I used to ride Kawasaki GPX 750,,, a true sports,,,,have turned speedometer all the upto stopper after 200 km/h, Has a chance to take test ride Triumph Bonville 900 and 1200, twins, excellent power,,,easy to ride because my son's KTM 390 Duke single, I find heavy to ride,

Wow! The ultimate desert sled. That mag conversion is cool. Kinda sad that it won't be ridden in the desert though...
When Meguro copied the Triumph engine for use by Japan's gamble racers they also made the cams removable without splitting the cases. They made a couple of other mods to it as well. Come to think of it, I wonder if that bike is actually a Meguro engine, because the Meguro had the mag mounted just like that......?? The gamble racers also tried using alu cylinders but found that the engines put out more power with the standard iron barrels. When the gamble racers switched to Suzuki race engines all the Meguro/Triumph engines and parts found their way into the classic racers and street machines.
I have a 66 sled that I converted into a 750 street tracker fitted with a center-plug head (10mm plugs) from a Japanese gamble racer. Its swingarm has a reinforcing brake along the bottom of the swingarm tubes.

“On Any Sunday” ….Malcolm Smith , Steve McQueen and even Arthur Lampkin would have done this the justice it so craves.
Soz Arthur was a beezer man I know. Perhaps Ray Sayer - a Yorkshire man who campaigned Triumph twins at trials and the SSDT

So it started life as a 1963 TR6SC but in 1966 it got a set of 1966 Cases and Frame? So what is left from 1963? Sounds to me like a mis-matched rehash. Could use a tune up also.
