The form says that type 1 opt out may be discontinued in the future. If this happens then they may be turned into a National Data Opt-out. I think this happened to me before a type 1 was changed to a National Data Opt out. I received a letter concerning this but I did not understand what it meant. I do now. Thanks!

As a genuine 'Golden Oldie' (81 years young) I DON'T have a mobile, only a landline phone. Trying to fill the 'opt out' form on the NHS app l find l cannot complete it because the form will not accept landline numbers. Sent an e-mail to NHS enquiries - got no response. Anyone got any ideas?

Also... isn’t it absolutely criminal that the NHS are allowed to completely bypass our rights under GDPR. The NHS has a severe void when it comes to technical expertise combined with a total disrespect for data privacy. How can anyone expect this fiasco to not end badly I wonder?

What are my options if you live in Scotland? - I have submitted Type 1 & DAOO, to NHS Digital but they are unable to process my opt-out as this only applies to England?

This requirement for Opt-out is so wrong. This is not a democratic choice, this is a mandatory requirement if you don’t want your personal health data shared. This is a bad a the organ donation requirement. Why are we going down this line?

Actually it the responsibility of the government and NHS England /Digital to inform patients, not the practice. This has happened in the space of a few weeks and many practices and patients still do not know about it.
Would suggest asking your local. MP about this is more appropriate as it a government mandated data extraction

@@eGPlearning to me it doesn't matter who is "responsible" GP's have a duty of care and confidentiality...to me this means the GP practice should ALSO tell patients. Passing the buck to me to ask my MP about it is too little too late. A lot of MPs don't care about what a constituent says. They don't know us personally. Our GP does. GP practices are entrusted by us patients to protect our personal data. It was not my MP who encouraged me to share my records within hospital depts (which I agree is useful if admitted in an emergency, we all know the older faxing system was is inadequate if no staff are " Manning" the fax machine. At one point as a patient in hospital I manned the fax machine in an AAU dept) it was MY GP who asked me to sign the opt in consent sheet. Therefore is it not my GP's moral responsibility to inform me of this reprehensible opt out scheme. I know some GP surgeries are taking a moral stand by refusing the government/NHS digital instructions to pass on patient's record's. I HIGHLY commend them. Pity all GP practices are not taking a stand with them, their esteemed colleagues.
