Thank you so much LTA and SMRT for working 24/7 making sure we have a safe ride! Thank you LTA and SMRT for making and building Thomsan East Coast Line and making a Enjoyable journey!
Thank you to those who contributed into the new TEL. Just a feedback from customers like me- anyone notice the train ride is more noisy compared to other lines in SG?
Glad it finally opened in spite of the delays, I have completely forgotten what Upp Thomson Road looked like before construction began Some thoughts: There seems to be a lack of exit signs (and area map) at the platform level. In stations with only one exit this isn't a big deal but I noticed many of the new stations are aligned to have exits at both sides, and there were definitely commuters who were stuck after alighting trying to figure out which side to exit from. I also would not like to take the wrong escalator and backtrack afterwards. I hope this can be improved on soon because we really want to minimise the number of confused commuters standing in front of escalators and gantries figuring out where to go. Taking 0:17 as a reference, I would prefer if the lit signs showed me what was at the exit, not just the exit number. Seeing "Exit 1" after tapping out is meaningless, "Thomson Plaza" is what I really care about. The old convention in existing MRT stations don't have this problem. I also feel the smaller sign under the CCTVs should have a thicker font weight; the text is actually thinner than the bus stop code numbers. I really like the train interiors, platform train info display, and the area map being aligned to its actual position though, I think those were very well done
Few more things I'd like to add: 1. Think it's a pity that the single digit numbers assigned to bus stops near MRT stations are being removed too. E.g. @ Mayflower MRT it's faster to differentiate bus stop 1 from 3 than bus stop 54189 from 54199. 2. Then at the platforms, the route maps have shrunk the terminus numbers (13 & 14 in TEL's case) in favour of putting a big 'A' or 'B' at the header, & initially I didn't know what 'A' & 'B' were until I figured they were referring to Platforms A & B (which was spelt out explicitly in full on maps at older stations' platforms but not in TEL) 3. The lifts now have a colour floor display, that could be exploited further than it is now to improve wayfinding e.g. showing the symbol of a bicycle when reaching L2 of Mayflower MRT station's Exit 2 (whose rooftop has a bicycle park), a train symbol when reaching platform level, plus the words "Thomson East Coast Line" on a brown banner (for lifts in interchange stations). Since the lifts are quite deep, a slider bar could also be displayed (like in lifts in London's Tube) to show how deep down the lift has travelled between floors at any one point of time so far e.g. from street level to the ticket concourse, or from concourse to the platform. The lift doors also take too long to open - 5s of idling after the lift levels with the floor you're going to 4. The monochrome PIS scrolling text displays positioned transversely in the trains are underutilised, staying mostly blank except when at, approaching or just leaving stations. Think it could take over some of the text that's currently being displayed on the DRMDs instead in-between stations, that could instead display route maps for longer (plus station names in more languages) plus some ads. 5. Areas with >1 escalator going in the same direction could have some at slow (for the elderly) & others at fast speed. 6. Now that TEL has opened, older MRT lines' signs now look more cluttered by comparison, but TEL's signs go abit too far in the other extreme I feel. On a smaller note, using letters instead of numbers for exits also made the MRT more unique (as HK's MTR is the only other system I know in the world that does that)
Looking back at TEL2 pretty good architect of stations. TEL4 to marine parade area so TEL5 go Changi Airport T5 as well as replacing EWL changi branch??? If so why are they building new train viaducts at tanah merah
@@MrRoses65 i know, but based on the current completion state. it should be possible to estimate like Q1 2022, Q2 2022 or Q3 2022 etc. After all it was originally due to be ready this year.. before Covid-19 of cos

Amsterdam's metro uses the same system (Urbalis 400) too I heard & has also been delayed by reliability issues, but to be fair they have more types of rolling stock & train services to handle (e.g. 3 lines sharing the same tracks south of _Centraal_ station, while also operating both regular full-sized metro trains & narrower light-rail/pre-metro vehicles that'd switch to on-street running & overhead power in the city's south)
Hey that was me on the train enthusiast documenting the final moments of TEL1 part,I am honoured to be in this video LTA Singapore! Thank you so much

@@354ccklee7 Good night!

Yup,tel is more noisy than other mrt lines
Yes. The ride is louder.
Yes it's even louder than north south and circle lines which used to be the most noises lines i think 🤔
Yeah, at first i thought the train was diesel cause it was so loud, but everything else was perfect!
The Mitsubishi VVVF makes it feel noisier
Thank you to all for making the Thomson East Coast Line Stage 2 a reality. Looking forward to the opening of Stage 3 soon.
I am coming in next year guys and thx for use are new line and thank you lta. ❤️🇸🇬🇵🇭
A sincere thank you to everyone who helped make this happen! It's been many years in the making and I hope that they can take a rest after this :)

I CANNOT BELIEVE I WASNT THE FIRST PASSENGER
What is the song name? Very nice to hear
I just noticed the TEL stage 2 a day after it opened at 5:19PM
all these new stations feel the vibes of Kajang Sungai Buloh MRT line in KL
Even the train cars and announcements also, making TEL as the 'Singapore version' to the SBK Line.
The first song in this video sounds like a Farewell song to me for some reasons.
At night : announcement : "there is no more train services, we are closing the station.... good night!
Beautiful piece of work there, well done LTA 👍
And SMRT
As long as we have a good and ambitious future thinking govt anything is possible 🙏🙏🙏🙏
