It’s crazy. I got the big chop about 3 weeks ago and I’ve felt like a new woman since. Confidence has been going through the roof. Im actually shocked because I wasn’t expecting the level of confidence I feel now. I even started shopping for new colorful clothing and fun dangling earrings. Other women have started approaching me. Just yesterday another Mom asked if I dyed my hair! She told me it looked intentionally done like a dye job. Lol!

It’s so great to hear this!! I 100% relate. I went to professional luncheon and a woman at my table asked the same thing-she assumed I added the low lights. 💖

Your hair is phenomenal. It's thick, glossy, and 100% gorgeous. At 62, I have sporadic grays. There's no particular pattern. Not sure if that's a good or bad thing. So, I continue to have it colored.
You just radiate and exude confidence. I'm glad for you that you chose to go gray.
Very thought provoking quote. I get it.

I think I’m super close. There might be a little blonde at the ends. We did a super subtle ombré effect so it’s kind of hard to see. I also will continue to grow my hair out. I like it longer and now that it’s growing so thick, I want to see what length looks best. I’ve enjoyed this Bob.
“Just stopped” 😍 I love it. I only really remember because February I had the highlights and big cut and then we went into lockdown.

Happy Anniversary Beth. Long time listener, first-time caller LOL. I am at 13 months dye free. Red-head or auburn all my life, and now salt and brunette, with a fantastic white money piece at the front. I had a pixie/bob recently - the back is dye free, and still some of those blond highlights at the front. Your initial videos were so powerful to me. The story of how you panicked on vacation because of a hair dye appointment - I GOT IT! Now feel so great. Even love my shorter hair. I am still relinquishing my life long identity as a red head (despite really being a mousy brunette likely for the last 20 years). Really enjoy your videos, your thoughts, your motivation and inspiration. Thank you.

Another great video, Beth! I can relate to the thought that growing out my silver gave me confidence. It does lead to the question: What else can I improve in my life? This has worked so well. And it is helpful that there are other women out there who embrace what nature gifted them with. Can I just say, I love Brandon's attitude and support. I think I have told you before that I had a different experience. I changed the hair salon and went ahead with my gray hair journey.
And about looking in the mirror, it is absolutely freeing not having to check my roots every time I see myself and having to constantly worry about growing out and other people seeing it, and of course being unhappy about it.
I also feel that my green eye colour is more noticeable and seems somehow fresher. Ever since I started growing the hair dye out I feel more myself and it gives me the courage to tackle other areas in my life that for some reasons I let get away from me. Almost like courage begets courage.
Thank you for introducing David Foster Wallace to me. I have only heard the name before but will now look in to his works.
Finally, you are so articulate and thoughtful. I am very impressed how thought through your videos come across. I can see your channel growing and growing and you deserve it.🥰

    • @InfinitegardenbyBethK
      @InfinitegardenbyBethK  2 ปีที่แล้ว

Wow, Jess! Thank you so much for the super thoughtful and kind comment. It really means so much to me.
I think Brandon is a truly rare and angelic human-it made such a difference to have that support. When I talked to him about it I didn’t have my full sense of confidence and he was so encouraging. He’s Gen Z and that might be partly why. He’s just so open to unique self-expression.
Okay so David Foster Wallace: his fiction is what some people refer to as “difficult”-serious subject matter, very demanding but worth it. If you want to check him out for the first time, I recommend two essays. “A Supposedly Fun Thing I’ll Never Do Again” is about a luxury cruise he took for Harper’s magazine. It’s hilarious and a great introduction to his style. I also love “Consider the Lobster”, which is about the Maine Lobster Fest and turns into a piece about the ethics of eating animals (not preachy, but thoroughly considered and so worth reading). He wrote that for Gourmet Magazine.
Finally there’s a movie about the book tour he did for Infinite Jest called “The End of the Tour”. Jason Segel plays him and I think does him Justice (not that I knew him but I did love him and had watched lectures/interviews, etc.) he also has a famous college graduation lecture a lot of people have heard called “This is Water”. Whew. I just miss him so much.

I let my hair grow out during Covid like you. I love not spending the time or money to dye my hair. My hair is shiny again and looks best with my complexion. I put bright highlights around my face only as it grew out giving the effect of balayage. The hardest part is not knowing what color gray you will have in the end. I did cut my hair to chin length which I hated more than the grow out. I feel free, confident and receive more compliments on my hair now than I ever did.

Beth, I couldn’t agree more with your posts. I recently watched where you referenced SATC and Amanda’s so called grey and grow out which looked just awful, I completely agreed with you. I’m 16 months into my grey grow out and couldn’t be more obsessed with caring for my hair, it’s not that I gave up caring about my appearance when I stopped me dying my hair quite the opposite. Your so right too about all the confidence one gains. I’m brimming with it. Happy New Year and congrats on your 2 year anniversary, Beth 💐🍾🥂 I'm celebrating my 1. year February 20. 👏 It's about 1/3 of my current length and a light salt/pepper. The 2 colored look is aesthetically unpleasing, but other than that I'm okay with it - nothing more, nothing less (I've always loved my naturally dark brown hair). Who knows, maybe the gray will grow on me, haha... when it GROWS! Overall, the process is rather uneventful for me, as Danes are super laid back, and I never receive comments of any kind. People here really can't be bothered by other people's hair or appearance. Keep enjoying them lovely 'popping eyes' 👁️💄🎨😘

During my transition months my view on the hairline chanced 100%: Before going grey I was annoyed every time when the whites showed up just 1 week after colouring.

I’ve been surprised at how many positive consequences have come from growing my silver strands. I also feel more confident, liberated and my hair is definitely healthier. I think that nature is really smart and perhaps going grey serves purposes that aren’t immediately apparent, but important.
My dentist said she felt like she was burning her bra by going grey. She sometimes uses a temporary color depositing conditioner to make her hair fun colors like pink! 😁 She’s at least 20 years older than me and experienced a lot of negativity from people about going grey, but I’ve only received compliments. It might be because people know I’d tell them where to go if they made some snide comment!

Burning her bra 😍 that’s a mood. I’m very open to temporary color. My moth er once had the softest, faintest lavender around her face with a platinum Marilyn hairstyle. It was so luscious and subtle. I’m very very curious. 🧜🏽‍♀️

I'm on my second round at 46 of growing my hair out. I went completely grey two years ago and loved it completely .then pressure got to me and I dyed it dark brown again. I'm back to growing it out. I loved this video, but one question I have is that I feel so much more natural and less fake having my grey hair. However, what is the difference between wearing make up and dying our hair. This is a genuine question. How is make up different?
