Yuka towing Eric in to features is some of my favourite TH-cam content. Eric, don't let macho pride ever ruin your dynamic. It's awesome to have a partner that can push you, and visa versa.
Absolutely agree. I ride with some pretty rad gals sometimes, they taught me quite alot! Its not because they're girls that we guys need to feel entitled to do something :D
You never want to look at the obstacles; always look at where you want to go, not where you don’t. Back when I was racing off road (in the dark ages), I almost had a visible line that would light up for me to follow (really!) The moment you fixate on that large rock on the center of the trail is when you will head straight for that rock. It’s also applicable to life; don’t focus on the obstacles in life; focus on where you want to go. So this truism doesn’t just apply to mountain biking. 😁
I love how Yuka says " I know that's not your real feeling" when Eric says he's not as confident following her through and over that step-down. Yuka knows that Eric's fear is not real, and I love how she builds her confidence and supports him at the same time. She makes everything positive, she says "step down", oh yeah, step-down is easy, step down is good, always keeping that PMA. This is a true example of how your attitude in life determines what you get out of it! LOVE YOU GUYS!
Yuka is just awesome and such an inspiration! I wish I had half her confidence. Quite often referring to her when we commit to sending it on our local trails by saying "OK. Let's go!". 😆👊💥
Yuka sounds like a logical person, which really helps when keeping things in perspective. I usually let my fears dominate and go past that stuff. Definitely lucky to have someone showing you the way!
Howdy from Oklahoma, 73 yr old living vicariously through your videos looks like fun. Motorcrosser back in the day wish I could ride bikes today like y'all. Thanks for your videos.
Yeah when I was 14 I sending jumps with my MTB without helmet and crashed bad but didn’t broke anything and starting that day I can’t do it and now I’m 17 I overcome it by wearing protective gear and do things I didn’t even know I can like I dropped 3ft with my BMX and I’m scared because I get used to having suspension but since I’m wearing helmet I go for it and now I wanna do higher
She is amazing! I haven't had that kind of courage since I was a kid. But here I am, just starting mountain biking at 57 years old. I like the green flowy trails, though.
This video right here is exactly why I've always loved extreme sports. I've mountain biked, snowboarded skated my whole life and done a little surfing when I could and that feeling of getting over that fear for a thrill is indescribable.
This is like my girlfriend in rock climbing- she always inspires me, just goes for stuff and I end up only doing it after her. Glad I'm not the only guy out there in awe of the fearlessness (or rather, just commitment and focus) of his partner.
Thank you for this honest look into the mindset of jumping and drops. After coming off some serious injuries myself I can totally relate Eric. Oh, and go Yuka-chan!!!
I love that you show us all the preparatory work before you do those difficult features. Most riders just show the successful completion. It makes it look like they hit it the first time without advanced planning. Thank you for posting.
Yuka had me smiling uncontrollably most of the video, and several times I said, "Damn! Yuka" out loud. Her confident attitude is infectious and she's got the skills to back it up. Great Video Eric, so cool you put the spotlight on your wife, she definitely earned it this video! Thank you, and Keep up the great work.
Love the video. Thank you for featuring our small community of Gitwinksihlkw. Appreciate it and one day I hope I’m brave enough to hit the bigger drops. Lol
"Some times I get scared " I have the same feeling with my little one. When dips over edge and out of sight. When see her back tire skid and her bike go sideways for a bike. Going through rock gardens over drops. Sometimes I think I should carry extra underwear
I wish I was back in my 20's again with all the new trails that have been built, endos and wipe-outs hurt more the older you get, and take longer to recover from. "Don't look at the tree..." seriously, most of my spills were caused by me looking exactly where I didn't want to go. I've never MT bikes in BC, only down here in the USA... New Mexico, Colorado, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, and Florida. Yeah, Florida... pretty tame. My favorite top three are Mount Snow and Killington in Vermont, and the Rim Trail near Cloudcroft, NM.
Great video! The extra production starting at 9:30 had me extra impressed. I haven't been back to the channel for a minute, and it was a great surprise. Kudos to you guys!
What I've always admired about Yuka is her mental strength. She's always ready to send it and never bows in front of adversity. She's a tough cookie! :)
You and Yuka are model pair for all couples on healthy ways to support and encourage each other! I saw so much honesty from the both of you in this video and I really appreciate you sharing this perspective with the community!
Wow! Yuka you are amazing and so inspirational! thanks Eric for posting this and being so honest and supportive! would love to see vids of Yuka's progression since beginning! I would love to up my game to w more drops, jumps and better technique!
Best part of your videos is watching Yuka jumping without the hesitation I see on you and other bikers in yiur show. Truly admire her courage and determination without hesitation!
This is only my 2nd time watching and to tell the truth, her little voice kills me! I hope you are both totally happy forever!❤ I will be watching you guys.👍🏼
Great video and tribute to Yuka. Really enjoy the content and commentary. Keep riding, living life, having fun and sharing with the world. Thank you for doing so. Health and safe travels to you.
Man..this is awesome stuff. To see a couple connect in their hobbies and support each other while being active and adventuring, and not just just for the sake of taking pictures together. Actually out conquering a difficult sport and sharpening your skills..I have to say I am envious of your shared passion. Hopefully I can meet a girl who likes to ride someday too.
Yeah, no fear until you hit a dodgy jump and smash your head in. Then fear sounds like a good idea. Maybe yucky will not be smiling so much when shes spitting out a mouth full of broken teeth.
Your wife is a badass! 👍👍I used to seek out mountain trails near me. I no longer ride, do to Chronic shoulder pain. Another fact to consider, the older you get the slower you get up from a spill 😉 😂 enjoy the trials!
This inspires me so much. I just got back from a bike park tour in BC and we went to Sun Peaks where I FINALLY did my very first gap. They always scare me but they had a smaller one on their new flow trail (Might As Well) and I did it by accident the first time. I didn’t realize it until I was in the air. Haha. You are right, it’s a mental game at times. I already had the skills to do it but my mind has been holding me back. Thanks so much Yuka, for the inspiration to keep pushing. Mountain biking is a huge part of my life! 🤟
The quality of these videos is from another world. Incredible image quality. Thank you for this 🙏 Ps. Your wife really knows how to send sick stuff 😄🤟🔥
Not gonna lie...it feels.good to see you admit your cut-off level for comfort. Back when I rode mountain bikes, I did some very similar terrain on an all-mountain bike. We did some gnarly drops and goal post jumps, mostly with one-take. It was fun, but I definitely pinballed a few times, ultimately ending my biking forever with an ugly crash (I could ride again, I'm just no longer willing to go get hurt doing crazy stuff). You guys are doing it right. If it's sketchy, check it out, give it a look, don't be afraid to skip it. If you get more confident the more you look, you prolly got it. I only passed up one drop, everytime I looked down from it I couldn't get the guts to go
I hope one day I can ride as good as Yuka does! I just started biking last year at 42 years old. I have a long learning curve ahead of me. Thanks for all the videos. You guys are amazing!
Brother, way to support you partner and show Yuka’s progression. I have watched you 2 for some time and I too use to think, “please don’t do it Yuka!” And then mind over matter. High Touch! 🙌
Yeah man! Yuka is one hellova woman actually! Ive seen a few of your videos before and i never actually realised how gnarly she was but this has opened my eyes to her real technical ability and mental fortitude. Yuka is one of the funniest riders I've seen.. On one hand she can stick features with no fear but on the other she can crash while standing still mid conversation. How she has managed to not seriously injure herself pretty head scratching at this point.
Yuka his been killing it for a while now 🙂 check out her dirt merchant video:

Its not just the environment. Terrace has always had a tradition of trail builders building sketchy features. At least nowadays they are rideable.
I live in Smithers BC! On your way back you want to come ride again? Bcpov you're the best! Please respond, I live in Smithers BC
Too many minds is no good
Yuka is fearless
Go Yuka! 🙌🏼
"You don't have to do it" "but jump is fun" is literally the internal monolog I have with myself every time I go out to practice jumping haha.
hahahaha, yup
Haha, very true
Came here to make this comment. Was happy to see it was already at the top of the section.
Jerry likes jump :D

This basically a love letter to Yuka and I'm here for it! I've been watching you guys for a long time and she amazes me every time
eric: ya known you dont have to do it.
yuka: but, jump is fun...

"but jump is fun" needs to be on a t-shirt, classic
yes! bring on the merch. I want this on a t-shirt, too.
with a pic of Yuka sending a jump
seriously!
Either a caricatured pic of her in her helmet smiling, or one of her sending it. I would wear this!
Take my money
Yuka is just awesome and such an inspiration! I wish I had half her confidence. Quite often referring to her when we commit to sending it on our local trails by saying "OK. Let's go!". 😆👊💥
I love that you are appreciate of Yuka for her help to you when riding instead of just feeling like you have to be the better rider!

Yuka is so impressive! I wish I had her fearlessness
Everyone needs to be more like Yuka! I love her attitude towards riding and having fun! Go Yuka!
You gotta give yourself time to build up your confidence again after injuries that's the key to getting back to where you were! Great vid

Your commentary/voiceover is getting so good and your editing skills have improved so much more
That is true
I love the dynamic between you and your wife. This was a joy to watch.
The honesty, humbleness, and ego-less approach you have to riding is admirable Eric. Yuka is absolutely killing it! Great content as always.

I feel like "But, jump is fine" captures some profound draw to mtb that we can all relate to. It moved me, really.
Yuka should change her name to “Yukan send it!” or “Yuka the sender” 🤘🏼👊🏼

Yuka is such a sender! She always seems to have such a confidence in her own abilities. Awesome video dude!
Man, Yuka is a rock star. That solo camping video of her is one of the things made me a Yuka believer!
