A mother agency/agent is usually your first agency/agent. Like a mother, they are meant to nurture (develop) your career and your skills and look so they can eventually place you with (usually) larger or international agencies for more work. It sounds creepy to outsiders but it's not creepy in the slightest lol. They're just agencies that place you with other agencies.
Here in Israel it's the law :) anyone who reaches the age 18 joins the army/volunteer for National service . The girls for 2 years and the boys 3 years.
+Megan Fleming or volunteer :) personally I did 2 years of voluntary in the government Facilities I helped kids that come from broken families with money problems or with parents that couldn't take care of them. It was such a meaningful time of my life. I felt so good giving back to my country.
+Megan Fleming all the Jewish citizens have to, if not, you will go for jail and get a retrial every few weeks so you could change your mind about military service, if you'll choose to stay in eventually you'll be out by a couple of years (the time it would take you to do actual service). People with mental and health issues don't have to go, some of them choose to volunteer in the army itself though. It kinda sucks but you deal with it, it could be like a summer camp or a total nightmare - depends on your attitude and location.
By joining the army doesn't mean you'll be wearing a combat uniform and march every single day at the booting camp like you see on tv, you can aswell be part of a community group that goes to diferent sites to help children, or maybe work as a helper, varies in every country.

I was "discovered" once when I was walking home from school with a friend. Normally we always went on our bikes but her tire was flat so I walked with her. Suddenly this woman ran after us and long story short, she wanted me in her agency. She was a bit shocked when she heard my age (I was twelve at the time but I was really tall and looked way older than I was) but she was still willing to make it work. The relationship with that friend became a bit awkward afterwards because she was there as well and she didn't get "invited" so to speak and although I never was the kind of girl to wish for a modeling contract, she was so it felt a bit like I had stolen her dream. I did it for a couple of years until I finally had the guts to quit it at age sixteen. I hated it. It was boring, they treat you like a piece of meat (which was quite damaging at my age especially - luckily I was a very stubborn rooted teenager) and it took up a lot of time. I felt like I owed it to all the girls in my class who had come up to me to tell me how jealous they were and how much they wanted this for themselves to keep going with it. I felt ungrateful for the opportunity. Utter bullshit obviously. My agency tried to convince me to keep going with it because at sixteen I didn't need parent approval for everything still so there were two agencies, Ford Models in New York and another I can't remember the name from in Paris, who wanted to sign me. But I got out while I could mate! Best decision ever. I got "discovered" two more times after I quit but I declined them both. Been there, done that. Don't know why I felt the need to tell all this but modeling was terrible in my own experience and I can't say I would recommend it to anyone.
Man this makes me so sad. In 6th grade I was complimented on my looks by this woman who I think was a scout and she gave me this business card to go to this modeling agency. I never went. ☹️

When I was younger I thought to be a model you had to be beyond beautiful and tall and skinny but the models these days just have really awkward lanky skinny noodle like bodies and awkward looking faces they just look below average and are simply models because they are extremely tall and skinny.

You actually don't get a lot of money unless you are the very top models. For average to beginner model, you have to pay and have to get approval for your hair cuts/ coloring, your nails, your traveling tickets and so much more. It's definitely not worth going into that kind of field.

Just thought I would share my story for anyone looking for inspiration, I am 13, 180cm tall and weigh about 60kg but most of that is muscle, I have abs and I am very toned and healthy. I tried for a model search and I was one of 7 chosen out of 600 I didn't get in to the next stage of the competition because I was too young and the model search had experienced hate for putting young people under the spot light at too early of an age. I just wanted to say, yes the do like it when your skinny, yes you do have to constantly go to the gym, yes they do want you to be healthy, yes they do want you to be tall. But most of all they want you to be blank, they want you to be blank so that they can mound you into what will make consumers want to buy the product your advertising they WILL shape you to fit their needs and they will be harsh. Modelling is one of the most competitive markets out there and it's a race for both models and agencies to find something unique.

I really wish I could get into modeling. I'm like super tall (aroun 1.79m or 1.80m) but it's kinda hard for me to find a 'good agency' since I'm only 15 and don't know which agency is actually good and which are not. Start small. Pageants etc. Then if you're willing and old enough move down to where there are many opportunities.

I really wish I could get into modeling. I'm like super tall (aroun 1.79m or 1.80m) but it's kinda hard for me to find a 'good agency' since I'm only 15 and don't know which agency is actually good and which are not. Also I'd much rather work internationally but well you know. Everyone starts somewhere.

Garance B. It's all based on your location and age. There are heaps of print model that do magazines, covers and billboards. You can start off by searing some local agencies.
