My dad used to go out West every year for the various salmon seasons & we ended up buying a couple extra freezers for all the fish he’d ship back. He ended up getting his trips paid for by all his friends who wanted salmon, because we’re half a coast away from them & they’ve always been expensive/hard to buy around here. He’d smoke a bunch of them when he got home & the rest lasted us until his next yearly trip. Those were the days!! 🍣🐟
Watching you go after your first salmon, I grinned from ear to ear. I remember my first salmon. Wow!! And my biggest, a 60 pound King Salmon which put me in 3rd place in the women’s division. So much fun!! Congrats on your catch. Enjoy.😊

Fantastic fish Tyler. The salmon run up here as well. Its amazing to see them . They are a hard fighting fish once you get one on the hook. When i was young I would go fishing with my father. I loved it, especially when I caught most of the fish 😂. I have a picture of one of my catches. I hope you have a great weekend my friend ❤️🙂⚘️.

Salmon is literally the best meat of any kind for human consumption, nothing provides the nutrients that we need like it does. I grew up in Eureka California and my father had a boat. We would go out in the Pacific Ocean when the limit was three per person and with five of us in the boat the total was 15 fish. We filled our freezer with this wonderful Salmon and could eat it all year long. I also live in Anchorage Alaska for three years and we did the same there. The Salmon you buy at Walmart is not the same as wild caught and is missing the nutrients that wild Salmon has. Great video.

I love salmon fishing. I moved to Alaska and dearly wish I was still there and now it’s salmon season. I moved back home to take care of my Dad . I have caught countless salmon over the years. Finest of all gamefish. Cooking tip: allo the oil to drip out when cooking. They are great smoked. Prepared correctly, the eggs are also very good.

Amazing how hard they fought to get away. Sad that they can't make it to spawn, but it makes for good food for people willing to fish them out. Have never seen salmon fishing before, like this video looking forward to more.

I love fish that fight back! I used to go to Pompano Beach in Florida and get on one of the king fish boats. They take you out where the king fish congregate. They bait the hook and take them off, then clean them up according to how you want to eat them (steak or fillet). It's the greatest thing ever! I love Master Baiters!! 🤣 They make fishing so easy. King fish are fighters too.
Those fish are huge! It was cool watching. I couldn't believe the way they put up a fight. That's going to make a great dinner.

My brother fished for salmon here on the north side of Lake Ontario. Monster fish for sure. Never done it myself, but you sure peaked my interest, to say the least. Nice catch, hope you enjoy it soon. Thanks for the video, it was great.

Those fish are monsters Holy cow how many you keep
5 per person I believe!
Up here on the Northcoast of British Columbia we would consider those first 2 as small....we Canadians call them Spring Salmon or Chinook. Our Coastal River here gets these big guys in at Spring time and we are no longer allowed to catch the big ones to try to preserve the genes in the bigger sized fish....fish 60 lbs would be caught in the tens in number daily in the 1950's and 60's, average is now 30-40 lbs.
Good eating when grilled or poached.
The salmon run is a big thing where I live, they actually attempt to go up a small waterfall and quite a few actually make it too. It's brings out spectators and anglers alike.

Very nice fish. Um if you know someone who cans meat, you can can fish and the bones get soft and you then can eat them bones and all.
My grandpa used to fry the salmon eggs and eat them. He liked them that way.
You can cut salmon into steaks, not filetted and eat them that way also.
The Chinook salmon are way smaller and can be smoked pretty easy. I am not a salmon eater, but I guess it is pretty good.

You said the Salmon try to spawn and can't, then die. Why can't they spawn? Can't they get to the right creek bed? In the state where I live there are many places where salmon do spawn and they always die afterwards. They are born in the creeks and make their way to the ocean where they live until they are mature, then they go back to where they hatched to spawn. Dams and pollution lower the salmon population. Some people try to keep creeks clean for them and there are things like fish ladders at some dams to try to help the adults to get back to where they were born so they can spawn. Salmon are an important part of the indigenous culture here.
Here you can't keep them unless they're hooked in the mouth/head. Best fight of my life was hooked in the back. Was like dragging in a log that fought back. Good times!

Wow those are beautiful near me yakima river near prosser we use eggs or the rattle traps you find. But ours are black almost no where near as nice as yours
