  • Sometimes it’s hard to know if someone is truly following Jesus or if they just claim to be a Christian. In this episode we talk about the qualities you want to see in someone if you are to date them. Don’t get caught in a relationship that will pull you from Jesus!

Awesome episode. Jesus found me about a month ago, when I was in a dark place. He spoke to me through the gospels.
Your podcast has been wonderful in helping me learn God’s word and what it means to truly follow Jesus. Thank you 🙏🏻
Now I just have to make friends ahah

Such good advice on just being a Christian not even only in dating but just in the pursuit of Jesus. I’m married so the dating topic didn’t seem as relevant but I gleaned so much from this. Thank you! ❤

I actually agree with what Jonathan said "people that struggle with porn and masturbation outside of marriage, struggle with it inside of marriage more". I think that if someone can't resist when they're not married and not having sex and it becomes a habit, they still won't be able to resist even when they do have the access to sex with their spouse in marriage. Once you're used to something and its so normal for you, it's hard to let go of when it's time to quit it!

The problem is: what is “church?” Sitting for an hour on Sunday morning in a pew for a couple songs, a message, and then the pastor encourages congregants to join a weekly Bible study is nothing like the early church in Acts. A lot of times I connect more with Jesus not going on Sunday mornings but instead being out in nature and reading the Bible on my own and listening to podcasts and seeking out the Spirit and finding Bible minded community.

Question: My church has a large ministry in the recovery community in our area and our church is flooded with men and women who are coming out of various different types of addictions and criminal backgrounds. With that being said, the majority of the singles in our church are addicts. As a Christian single who has not come from that, I feel hesitant to choose someone from that pool. What are your thoughts on this aspect of Christian dating?

“Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. *And such were some of you. But *you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.”
      ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭6‬:‭9‬-‭11‬
God has the power to free every single one of them from their addictions. If they have reached full freedom, then I would consider them very dateable.

@@alexglase765 I appreciate this response. Thanks Alex. It kind of generates a second question… what does full freedom from it look like… a year clean? 2 years? Etc…
