It wouldn't be such an issue if people weren't being run ragged by inhumane working conditions & pressure to perform at school, in sports, etc. If we're honest, that's the cause of a lot of our out-of-control addiction problem in America. *Workaholism* is our primary addiction. 😞

I used to work at McDonald's and people used to get SO MAD when our ice cream machines were out of service (usually for several hours every day in the early/mid morning). When the machines are out of service, they're being cleaned. But for some reason, we weren't allowed to just tell people that they were out of service for cleaning because it would gross people out or something. All this did was show me even more how many people can't/don't read anything wherever they go. Those signs have been present since the drinks came out and trust me in person you can read them clearly. They ended up moving them behind the counters so only the employees can access them. ( I currently work at Panera). It truly shocks me that people can't use their brains. What do you think "CHARGED" means? It's not on there for a cute name. While I do wonder and think the amount in them is crazy and I'm unsure how they contain that much in the first place, nobody in general should be consuming that much of ANYTHING that's caffeinated. Point blank. She knew she had a heart condition, and she claimed to be "very, very vigilant" about what she consumed, but she couldn't read a plain as day sign that's literally at your eye level stating about the caffeine levels? And she drank a 30 oz and a 20? Same goes for the 46 year old man who passed from the same reason. If you have issues with caffeine, then you shouldn't be drinking anything caffeinated, or at the very least you should be moderating what you intake. Period.

Sorry if I sound insensitive, but us folks with adhd sometimes use caffeine to help manage symptoms. As soon as I could talk, my parents would have me have a cup of coffee along with my breakfast. Then it was take my Ritalin. I was able to be on a lower dose of Ritalin as a child/teen due to my daily cup of coffee. Adhd symptoms can be reduced by caffeine due to overclocking the body's hyper mode, allowing adhd people to have a fighting chance at focus and sitting for a bit. I'm 30 now and use two enhanced caffeine coffees a day to manage my adhd symptoms. I now use lowest dose Ritalin as a prn or as needed. It doesn't hurt that I adore the taste of coffee and love to dream up new concoctions to make at home. Bless coffee ❤.

Most people don't keep these things in their heads, even if they do read the amount it simply wouldn't occur to them that one drink could contain a max daily dose. There still should be an additional warning and more attention should be called to it. Not doing so is just disingenious, like yeah, we did list that in fine print, now if people accidentally overdose on that, well... it's their own fault for not reading the fine print and not doing the calculations. The following morning while walking to class, I felt a sudden and intense pain in my chest...I thought I was having a heart attack! It turns out my lung had "mysteriously" collapsed. I'm not aware of a collapsed lung being a particular symptom of caffeine poisoning, but I knew it wasn't coincidental. I didn't know anything about caffeine poisoning back then, but I just had a gut feeling that it was pushing myself to stay up late combined with all the caffeine I drank that had done it. I regularly stayed up all night drinking coffee and writing papers and going to class the next day on no sleep, but that night I was particularly tired and struggling to stay awake, so I drank way more coffee/tea than I usually did. Years later I learned about caffeine poisoning, which appeared to confirm my intuition.
So I know this isn't scientific by any means, it's just my own personal experience, but I've since limited my caffeine intake. Too much caffeine also hypes up my anxiety, so I mostly avoid it these days just for that reason. I still love the taste of coffee, so I have about 3 cups daily, but it's decaf, with just a sprinkle of regular mixed in. I generally stick to herbal teas rather than black or green tea, and of course I love chocolate as much as anyone lol. So I'm pretty free with that, but I don't eat a lot of it.
