Interesting to hear about the forward pivot. I think I experienced that very motion in the SC Trainer. I felt like that shoe didn't allow me to spend any time landing and shock absorbing with my own body on the forefoot; instead it was driving my foot and leg forward too soon for my mechanics. Consequently pain developed on the patellar apex, something that I otherwise often have experienced in traditional high drop shoes. I've been curious about the Fast-R, but it does sound like it won't work for me.
I land on my forefoot and seem to be one of the few that love this shoe, I have my 5k pb in it as well as my marathon pb (19.14 & 3.30), the comfort feels supreme to me across all speeds and distances. Dispite having a wide range of 'super shoes' I always feel like I'm wearing something special in this one!
I like an extreme shoe for 5K. Jarring forward when running in them sounds good to me. I am excited to try on this extreme shoe which I just ordered. 😀
Tbh, I don't consider this shoe as 'long marathon' type of a shoe regardless of how its marketed. When I took this shoe for my 5K runs it felt good but it's almost impossible to do warm-up sessions with this shoe. You have to bring another shoe for it. It's basically a reverse vomero 16 that I had last year in my rotation and I don't think anyone would pick this shoe over deviate nitro elite I can even say elite is even more 'versatile' shoe than this. If I want to blast it do track work I would choose takumi sen 8 which is more nimble and more suited shoe. I think this shoe has an identity crisis which you would naturally expect from any prototype shoe.
I'm curious, what in your mechanics makes the outsole so used on the postural lateral heel ? Heel striking?
I have an old hamstring tendinopathy and tend to scuff that heel on landing. I am a extremely hard heel striker.
Wich more reactive this one or puma Fast-FWD?
Yeah, going to have to pass on this one. Too many potential issues to spend $ on. I will wait for v2.
