You will have a much better chance of finding a true girl if you look for the average ones, outside these tourist areas. In Thailand inner beauty is so much more valuable, than outside beauty. The latter is so often combined with a broken mind.
That’s true everywhere these days. So much narcissism in this social media driven materialistic culture. It’s awful. Find important work doing service to others for the glory of God. That’s when and where you’ll find a truly meaningful relationship with a soulful person. Most of the rest of civilization is a wasteland these days unfortunately.
I met my Thai wife in America. She's a doctor and came here to do her residency with the intent to move here permanently (she'd gone to medical school and practiced for a year or so in Thailand's public hospitals afterward to receive tuition forgiveness). She found me on a dating app (again, in the US) and, to be honest, we've had what I would consider to be a perfectly normal relationship. When we visit Thailand, she usually meets up with some of her friends from medical school, and I'd say about half of them are still single even in their 30s. Maybe you guys need to try to go for the doctors ;)
I wonder what the best way is to find them in Thailand. They are not on the dating apps, at least not that I've seen. I'm the sort of guy they would be interested in. My ex-wife here in the US is an eye surgeon.

Problems begin when guys have been tricked into believing it _”should”_ be different, or that they’ve been led to believe that it’s really about something else. It’s evolutionary. Remember, women are so good at this, that they can even trick themselves into thinking and feeling there’s a lot more in the relationship. Women will ALWAYS choose security over love. And this includes short-time and long-term relationships. For us men, there is one thing even more important than love, it’s _respect._
No matter how much it’s costing you, if she doesn’t respect you, run.

My Ex English wife is loving living in "our" detached home, is in no hurry to sell, although legally it can be sold next summer, has made no attempt to buy me out (despite receiving a very large inheritance, gave up her well paid city job when she first became pregnant 19 years ago to be a full time mum (thats ok, I was earning well and I agreed at the time but in hindsight and looking back she was only thinking of herself and not for the good of the family + other things I can't be bothered to go into)

To the author: Don't regret it too much. You're feeling like she was "the one that got away", but the reality is that if it didn't end the way it did when it did, it probably would have just progressed into yet another Thailand horror story. Having said that, the way you treated her has obviously been a source of introspection and remorse on your part, so hopefully you've learned to 'do unto others as you would have others do unto you'. My brother lived in Thailand for ten years happily with a Thai girl. He speaks fluent Thai which I think helped him find the perfect lady. He’s recently returned to the uk with her. When he first went to Thailand many years ago he met a Thai girl in a bar, just as friends. He told me the Thai girl was very organised. She had twelve boyfriends from all around the world. She had selected them for ones that would come to Thailand and stay a whole month with her. She then showed him pictures of the men, saying this one’s is mr January, this one is mr February etc, nicknames based on which month they stayed with her. All of them sent her money each month, and of course paid for everything when they visited. She didn’t have a home, just stayed with the men in various hotels each month. She didn’t work in the bars, she didn’t need to.

It wasn’t love. It was just two people looking to get what they want from the other. Thai women are all about transactional relationships, which is not love. IMO, it’s better to get a Filipina to live with you, tour around Thailand together. They’re cheaper, low maintenance, no language barrier and not being in the Philippines means no nagging relatives asking for money. Take your girl to a clinic and get her the implant and you can have fun for five years without worries about getting her pregnant.
