I agree with Ato on this occasion. I have many observations for this event:
- Sha'Carri is the favourite for this event, reigning world champion and world leader, it looks like it's her time to dominate the 100m. However, her starts have been more inconsistent this year, which makes her a bit vulnerable considering you never know what start she will get when it matters, but she remains the favourite for the gold.
- Julien has been running well all season and is poised to medal in both sprints
- The bronze medal is open and I believe a lot of athletes have the potential to mount the podium
- The results of the race in my opinion is dependent on how healthy Shericka Jackson is.
- Shelly-Ann is the GOAT and at 37 she has done it all, she has the experience to medal, but she has had a difficult season, the results of this event will not affect her status as a legend, as she is saying goodbye to the sport.
Her stamina will be in question. For Diamond League events, all she has to do is run 1 race. In the Olympics, she has to run several heats B4 the finals. Her legs could be tired with the 100 and 200 heats.
Same can be said for all the women and men......hear that Noah?

@@sandraf8547 Not sure which "her" you're referring to, but Shacarri didn't qualify for the 200m and as a college athlete, Julien knows all about rounds. Shericka is not new to the process either.

Shericka was never a 100m runner that's why her turnover rate is so slow, I wouldn't bet on Shericka to win the 100m, but I would for the 200m
She had a pb of 10.65....its a good thing She isnt a 100m runner
@@SpannaBanna-e4e You need to keep up, stay informed, and know what you are talking about... Sha'Carri did not qualify for the 200 at the US trials... Also, the 100m is her specialty (in high school & college) where she is the NCAA record holder, for women, at 10:75… She also won the 100m at the last world championship.

I was a top sprinter as a child and taller than the two female sprinters who were faster than me. I’m 5’8, which is tall for a female, and they were the size of Shelly Ann. Someone who saw me race in competitions as a child, told me that it was unusual that I was as fast as I was because of my height and that most top female sprinters are short (like Shelly Ann). Therefore, her height and speed does not surprise me.
Although I was one of the few Americans, among my many Facebook friends, who cheered for Shelly Ann in a past Olympics, because I love the sprints, I wouldn’t consider her the best all-around sprinter. My all-around favorite sprinters in order are:
1. Florence Griffith Joyner (FloJo)
2. Carmelita Jeter
3. Alyson Felix

This is sad news to hear on Elaine. I knew little about the money issue but seeing the Jamaicans bash her for leaving it gave me hope that she could return in 2-3 years. Similar to the shacarri situation last Olympics. And I know there is a big age difference but looking at SAFP gave me hope it could be done. But you’re absolutely right. When the body’s done the body’s done 😭😭😭

I got Sha'Carri for the 100. I hate that she didn't get to get her Oly feet wet last time around, because this IS her's to lose. That said Alfred is a major problem NOT to be slept on. That bronze is open, but I'd love to see Talou get her hardware. Shelley isn't out, but she's also got a lot of years on those legs, and the amazing resume to prove it. Dina is a also a sentimental fav for either podium. And yes, Devon Allen got done dirty. At least he (presumable) got a decent payday going to play for the NFL for a minute.

@@thatsjustkc Look Shelley is the Queen of sprints. We just want to make sure she is doing self care and no one is pressuring her to run. Win, lose or draw she is going down in history as not only one of the best who ever laced it up but the best. I just remember her little cutsey self with those green braces on when she won that 100m at the 2008 Olympics. Me and mum (R.I.H.) always watched the Olympics together and my mum adored her. Did not even know what country she ran for until I told her but she was crazy about her. lol. I was like OMG. She defied the theory of the shorter runners were unable to win the 100m. People may not think so but she changed the face of track and field in the short sprints because then you saw other runners her height after that running and winning but not on her level.

Shericka hasn't looked the same this year. As Ato said if she is 100 percent she can win both the 100 and the 200, but if she is like 80 percent she is beatable in both. Honestly you can't blame anyone for writing off an athlete that pulled up.
