That area is going to be gorgeous when it fills in! Color combo is perfect. You are so ruthless at taking out plants that are still blooming. 🤣 I have such a hard time doing that even though I know it’s time.
+Marion Nixon I am pretty ruthless about it … but I know these winter annuals need some time to establish before extreme weather … plus I let the backyard go wild for all of the pollinators still hanging around.
@@shesamadgardener You are doing the right thing, and you inspired me to be a little ruthless today! 😁 I whacked down some plants and cleaned up some others, collected a few seeds and prepared plants for this storm today. My clearance marigolds look better than they have all summer so they survived for awhile longer. I don’t need that space right now. Thanks for the tough love lesson.
Ok, so I gasped when you pulled out those suncredibles that were still in bloom. However, after seeing how lovely the side garden looked after all the new plants were in place, I forgave you... LOL I'm a firm believer in mulch and have our yardman bring in a truckload of it every spring to dress our flowerbeds. If I just need a bag or two during the growing season, I'll go to Lowes and buy whatever their brand is. I'm trying to transition to all perennials, so I've really been enjoying your videos where you've focused on what you're planting in your garden.
+Rosemary Purnell 😂😂😂 trust me, they looked better on the video than they did up close … it was time! Yes, I think mulch makes everything look so much better, so I am going to make a conscious effort to add mulch.
+Rosie Singleton yeah I’m pretty ruthless and the winter annuals need time to establish before the colder weather. Suncredibles are hardy in zones 9 and 10, but I’m zone 8a.
The brand you’re using is nice. It is better for the plants - we got very little rain this summer but the mulch helped supress the weeds and I didn’t lose some hydrangeas I thought were damaged from the lack of rain.
I collected Dusty miller seeds, I will be winter sowing the seeds this weekend ,also I have some viola and pansy seeds that I bought from home depot am going to sow them in February and see what happens
@@shesamadgardener I checked the Containers couple days ago and now I have a gallon bottle of Dusty miller seedlings, along with snow in the summer and sweet Williams, only saw one lavender my second time trying keeping my fingers crossed
Hi just subbed to your channel. I am in zone 8b and so excited to find you. This is so perfect because we use the same plants and I love getting info. Your gardens are so beautiful!
Do you have to worry about critters going after your pansies or violas? I have potted pansies and the squirrels are relentless!! I use Repels All and cayenne pepper but if I'm not persistent, they let me know!! I deal with an entire menagerie of wildlife however I'm working hard on trying to outsmart them.🤣🤪
+Janice Tanner wildlife really isn’t a thing in my area because we are such new suburban area … trees are minimal and the wildlife hasn’t moved back in after all of the building yet.
Love the colors, looks really beautiful!
+michelle pollino Thank you 💚💚💚
