Great lil machine with some fantastic ideas. Lets see if the guys can pull it off. The double scales seems like a great idea too and will definitely bridge the gap into making a good coffee.
Finally an Aussie review, i backed this, and im beyond excited to upgrade from my Barista express which im pretty sure is on its way out. For $1049 USD (Around 1500AUD) i could not pass up that price.
Hey love your vids Mitch, but not sure if its just me but your audio is only on the left channel? Music is stereo but voice left.. anyways tks for the info!
Definitely something different! I love the idea with the dual boiler and pid combined with a more futuristic look and control. I always missed this on regular machines like ecm or lelit. The problems I personally have is the miss on automatic beverages like selecting americano and getting both, water and coffee with one click. I also prefer the volumetric measuring output of breville machines rather than having a scale built in. Also not quite a fan of the plastic (not shiny) Design. But the dual boiler is big! Still undecided what to go with. But great Video!!
It's all about balance really... the breville machines are absolutely focussed on convenience, but they sacrifice quality to achieve this. The breville "volumetrics" are so far from a consistent output... true gravimetrics like this are far superior, it will stop the shot with enough time to allow gravity to flow & achieve the goal weight. Having the Timed method will give you a different coffee each time.
@@andygraham6197 ah. Sorry, I completely forgot about that 😅 They are the Brewista smart scales. And they have been brilliant... I have used them with a vibration pump machine previously & they performed flawlessly. The battery life is also ridiculously long
Yes, that is a very common thought process... To be fair, try searching for parts for some of the most common machines & you will have similar issues. I will be diving deeper into the machine to see what parts are used inside.
Yes, you can simply pop over to the scale feature in the main screen & weigh your water also. Once you go into the extraction mode, the scale will be zero again.
Many thanks for your reply, Mitch. Another question, I am an Aussie backer and we are now at the stage of deciding colour and shipping method. Did you get your machine air freighted to you or by sea shipping and if by air, was it delayed in customs for any length of time? Meraki is saying we should choose the sea shipping method over the air freight method (we pay for the shipping either way) as the air freight seems to get held up in customs - this may happen in other countries but wanted to know your experience please if possible. Many thanks again for your assistance.
@Luckyme-kq3sq mine was sent via air quickly, but because it was an individual unit, it would have squeezed through alot quicker than a container will. I'd recommend via boat as it is much less likely to have issues in handling (broken etc)
Have been watching this machine on Kickstarter for a while now, nad have just pledged finally. Just wanted to confirm that the portafilter is 58mm?? I know you said swapped out the basket so i assume that all 58mm accessories (excluding the e61 group heads) will work yes
@@mitchdoescoffee sweet. Thanks mate. Yeah as much as I love my coffee setup now, having something all in one that saves me extra time and gives me more consistency is definitely a game changer
At first, I was raging at the contant Meraki content in all my subs...but dammit, I can't help myself but be super curious about it. It really looks like it might be a good all-in-one...especially if Mitch thinks so, lol.
@@mitchdoescoffee thanks that will be the deciding factor we only have one place we can put it in our kitchen/ dining room. We have eating galley style kitchen. It’s impressive what they have done with it for that price point. The spot where it has to go was purpose built for a 1st gen Rocket Giotto. Unreliable POS that was.
@@mitchdoescoffee ours went through two elements and then sprung a leak with took out the controller and we couldn’t afford to get it fixed in the two years we had it. looks like they've watched every You Tube coffee machine review of the last 5 years & tried to incorporate everything people wanted in an integrated machine, no std portafilter is a surprise though?
I would have to agree... Yes, I'm really not understanding the portafilter, I'm assuming it was a cost thing/licencing potentially... But it's also not really too much of an issue... the portafilter design is great. I will be checking what shower screens are compatible for servicing/upgrading
Unfortunately breville are paving there own demise. From personal experience within the understanding of our coffee culture and showing the appreciation of it through the development of suitable machines is completely lost and ignored.
100% agreed! If they were to develop the Dual Boiler... NOBODY! Would be able to catch up... But selling a new machine post-warranty is clearly a part of the board room meetings.
@mitchdoescoffee that is EXACTLY what I was pushing for while I was working there years and years ago. I pushed the need to develop the dual boiler and add further functionality to it. But there was ZERO interest. Instead they remove the dual boiler from the oracle and replace them with thermal jet system. Blows my mind. But there loss.
Thanks for the review. I just pledged on kickstarter, hopefully it all goes well
Awesome to hear mate. I think you will be very happy. 👍

It's going to be such a great tool to help people develop their espresso.
Brilliant Video!!!!! Fantastic looking machine Not bad for $1500

Mitch, what make / model scales are you using? How do they fair with a vibrating pump? Thanks Andy
Hi mate. These scales are built in to this machine & it uses a rotary pump. 😎
On your video you used your own scales to compare the accuracy of the built in scales - hence my question
@@andygraham6197 ah. Sorry, I completely forgot about that 😅 They are the Brewista smart scales. And they have been brilliant... I have used them with a vibration pump machine previously & they performed flawlessly. The battery life is also ridiculously long
My biggest concern is repairs and spare parts from these startup companies

Does it have a button for Americano?
There is a hot water spout to pour water before or after your espresso.
Do you know if you can tare the weight so long black drinkers can add their water prior to pouring the coffee?

It is actually surprisingly cheap in comparison to any dual boiler, Rotary pump machine.
Why cant it perge automatically ?
Auto purge feature is a fairly extensive system & absolutely not worth the hassle... and potential issues.

It'd almost identical to Oracle dimensions... I'll check later exactly
