I d not have one of these. It was one of the first auto-exposure cameras, marketed by Kodak to support sales of their slide film. Slide film had a reputation of being exacting, therefore difficult to use, so Kodak needed an auto-exposure "point-n-shoot". It has a basic lens and is solidly built by the Kodak Retina factory in Germany. The reason the aperture fully opens at film advance is that it is spring loaded. The light meter sets a locking pin at some point along the internal aperture scale. When you trip the shutter, the aperture ring is released and closes until it hits the meter pin and stops, thus setting the aperture opening per the meter reading. This auto-exposure metering mechanism was adopted by nearly all auto-exposure cameras having what was then called shutter priority metering, until electronics took over in the later 1970s.

Then again it must be stuck. It probably needs servicing. Remove the o-ring from the back and use a scanner to remove the rear lens group. Place a drop of lighter fluid on the blades and then work the aperture ring and shutter until they lossen up.

I'm not sure how to remove the rear lens group. I've got the o-ring off.

You need a spanner wrench to loosen the group. There are 2 notches for the tips of the spanner.

As cool as these are $40 is pushing it for sure, it would have to be in basically new condition with working meter and accurate speeds.
