Blimey, you guys get the miles in, 30 miles!! You both looked knackered at the end, that looked a tough start.
Yes it was a strong start but things do start to get to us as the trail is not what we expected.

Wow! I’ve walked the PW twice (first SN, then NS). On each occasion we didn’t attempt Byrness to KY in one day. We camped at Clennell St (NS) and used the hut at Auchope (SN).
Congratulations on completing this big, big distance in one day.
Oh it wasn’t fun. Well for Aaron anyway. It’s a long stretch but very scenic I enjoyed it just can’t wait to go back and do the next leg of the trail.
The problem is people don't like carrying weight nowadays, so they go lightweight and end up freezing cold.
No we was fine we was told it was unusual for the weather to be that cold for that time of year. So we decided to do what we could and come back and hike it in sections and it seems to be more enjoyable that way. I don’t mind carrying weight we just like to be comfortable it is supposed to be a holiday away from the wives. 🤫We don’t go out to prove anything I’m too old to ask for people’s approval or appreciation .
As Clint Eastwood said " A man's gotta know his limitations" . Kirk Yethom-Byrness on first day😮???. Hikers on the PCT/AT etc would never start with a 28 mile day on such terrain. Nature always wins out, but on the brighter side of life, the trail will always be there for another adventure.
It wasn’t the distance at all it was the weather 6 degree for 4 days and constant rain. That was the breaker for us. & yes your we can always return.
I did it in April 2016 , -6 deg C on the Cheviots, slept in first hut out of Byrness. snow drifts etc, not my favourite trail but it was challenging. Good luck with future hikes,
Having done it south to North I did Byrness to hut 2 then had an easy day to finish. To do the Cheviots in one day is a big walk
Yes it was & we start to pay for that later ☹️ Our moral was low due to the weather after we got down to Hadrians wall .
@Escape Outdoors I didn't find Bellingham to Byrness to be to bad, but hadrians wall from Greenhead to Bellingham was brutal on the knees, the ups and downs for 8 miles were grim and I had my trail legs by that time.
@@3180mick Are Hadrians wall I will upload soon. But I will be honest by the end of the wall we wasn’t feeling the trail I’ll point out & that we we’re spoilt by the C2C.
Good luck guys - what a bleak & tough environment , its quite a contrast to the c2c but the music is groovy - RIP ewes at the farm. Looking forward to the next instalment.
