- After a lapse in memory, Xena repairs her chakram and is finally back to her usual butt-kicking ways!
From Xena: Warrior Princess Season 5 Episode 2, "Chakram": After coming back to life, Xena forgets her life as a warrior. Meanwhile, Ares and another god of war, Kal, try to get a new chakram, the Chakram of Light, which has the power to kill gods, but can only be taken by an absolutely pure soul.

I was so sad when the actor who played Ares died. He was so hot.
The transition is perfect once she balances the chakram and regains her dark side. One of the memorable moments about this show that still is suspenseful when I watch it.

Me either but the funny thing is Lucy was not the first choice for the role. Actress Vanessa Angel was to be Xena. When she fell very I'll and couldn't make the trip from the U.S. they panicked. ,Ucy had done some roles on the show and Hercules already and her soon to be husband rob tappert remembered her and said what about Lucy Lawless. She did a great job for us before. Others said no she was just used her and people might notice and get confused. Tappert said die her hair black. Voila, Xena was born.

i like to think that the Chakram is a magical weapon and is mentally linked with the warrior and his/her battles. It being given to her by the God of War it would make sense that it carry magical properties and a link to her battles and memories. In Xena’s battles you can see that the weapon always knows what Xena wants it to do in almost a psychic linked way. one example being the chakram is thrown and literally will go find buisness to do until she is done and free to catch it. It would make sense that this magically linked weapon would be the key to getting her memories back!
Lucy and Renee sell those fight scenes and great stunts.
Isn't this what a marvel movie fight looks like? I can't stop coming back to this show when I think about 'industry" references from the movies. The production styles proces something exactly like this

@@zeriyx Alias is amazing. No lie, I've seen it about 6 times. Especially the second season is phenomenal. The 00's characterization on the main character seems a bit dated (the main character Sydney is always morally good) but the complex supporting characters make up for it.
Light and Darkness always live together!

Finally, more clips from Season 5 and from one of favorite episodes of the series. I love how everyone was getting owned by Kal's right hand man but as soon as Xena comes back, she kicks his a$$ and kills him like he was barely a challenge! No matter how Season 5 turned out overall, it had one hell of an amazing start (Fallen Angel, Chakram and Succession). :)
This was all time favorite episode of the entire series... I still want a replica chakram. I am so happy all the episodes are available free stream on Roku right.

It was so awesome when they showed the Chakram some love in this episode. Having characters like Joxer, Ares, Amarice, and Eli just added more fun to it. Gabrielle kicked some butt in this episode. Loved it. ❤

Without her dark side, she's lost. She said "no one deserves the power to kill Gods, especially me", but later on, when she got that power, she began to abuse it and it was taken from her.

as far as i remember xena never had the power to kill gods taken away from her. Their was one point in the series that spoiler eve died and for those few seconds that she was dead she could no longer kill gods. as soon as she was healed xena was able to kill gods again . i think that is the way it went. its bean years sense iv seen the series. so im going off of memory
@@supersaiyaman11589 The power to kill gods was taken from Xena when she attempted to kill Archangel Michael in one episode. Xena shouldn't be able to kill angels with her power since the show made it pretty clear that angels and demons were in a whole other league than gods. In Hercules' season 5 finale where Michael first showed up, he was toying with both Hercules and Ares showing how powerful he is yet a mortal Xena was shown to be a match for him just because she had the power to kill gods for a while, which made zero sense.

I have been a Xena fan for about 15 years now. A friend of mine was in an episode of Xena called Daughters of Pomira. He told me he didn't know what Xena was about and I explained to him. I believe Xena: Warrior Princess is the simple story of a warrior woman overcoming her dark side. We all have our inner darknesses.
I love Xena so much, I watched it sporadically in the 1990s, since then I have the complete series boxset. The show came out the same year as the Hercules TV series and was quickly received as the superior of the two shows, Kevin Sorbo didn't particularly like this fact. But the audience preferred Xena and the stories therein. Xena is far better and I love the relationship and character development between Gabriel and Xena. Gabrielle is the true hero of the show as she is so loyal and saves Xena from death time and again before their final death in season 6, the both of them are later reincarnated throughout history as a soul group, Xena and Gabrielle are always together in someway.
I think the narrator in the opening credits does a pretty good explanation of what the show is about: “In a time of ancient gods, warlords and kings... a land in turmoil cried out for a hero! She... was Xena: a mighty princess, forged in the heat of battle. The power... the passion... her courage will save the world!” 😉
@@shawntipton5078 Well... To play devil's advocate I think Sorbo had a small point. Tho it's obvious that Xena is the superior series of the two, I don't remember were I read this but Sorbo said that at first he was all for Xena but then the writers started to focus more on Xena and give it more energy and thought then Hercules. If this is true, it would have bothered me too.

It's a strange thing... I LOVE Gabrielle's evolution. I wouldn't have written it any other way... But I still prefer classic Grabrielle lollllll
I always love Gabby with sais. I wish the show lasted more than 6 seasons. Season 7 would have probably shown Gabby more fight scenes (equal fight scenes with xena) with her signature weapons.
This was near the beginning of Lucy's pregnancy in real life. I remember in an interview, I believe Rob said they wanted to give the chakram more utility so Lucy would have to physically fight less on-screen. This is also why Gabrielle seemed to have more fight action from this point on. It also explains the several sudden outfit changes Xena gets in the coming episodes.
A future Xena movie would be nice.

No one deserves that kind of power, Ares. Then by the end of the season, she has it again. I was sad that she destroyed the classic Chakram. It was the end of an era IMO.
It would have been good if the Balanced Chakram had kept the patterns of the Light & Dark Chakram.
I agree. Never was a big fan of the splitting chakky. It’s too bad she couldn’t just dump the light chakram and plop down her broken one for it to repair itself....leave the light, take the dark one. Nobody was ever gonna get the light one anyways...it melted monks!!! Besides there was like a million other ways to kill gods so it was a moot thing....hinds blood, rib of Chronos, etc.
