    Wall Street baron Steven Taylor (Michael Douglas) discovers that his pretty young wife, Emily (Gwyneth Paltrow), is cheating on him. He hires her lover, David (Viggo Mortensen), to murder her. The plan -- to stage a break-in that will look like a random murder -- turns out to be far from perfect.

    Performance was better than Dial M for Murder, plot twist was more intriguing. Douglas was his usual self. Audience likes it more today than when it was released ☺️

      i loved this movie but i just watched Dial M for Murder last night and the suspense built up from an entire movie shot in one room is legendary. No one could make a movie these days shot just in one room like that

      @@Mrjordan8 very well expressed. Similar thrill moments were built in the movie Rope in 1949 by Hitchcock. That movie has clever camerawork to make it appear - entire 80 minutes movie made in one shot !!

    I found this to be a huge plot hole. When the detective told her about the criminal's missing key, she immediately suspected that she had the key on her chain. Since she was already at the police station, why didn't just she tell the detective and let the cops investigate it instead of walking alone into that dangerous neighborhood herself, and then confronting her husband about it alone?

      What I don't get is why Steven assumed the key in the guy's pocket was Emily's? And why didn't he check when she was at her mom's? Or at her friend's? He easily could have gotten away with this if he had put the right key back on her chain.

    • @hutch1197
      @hutch1197 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@PittsburghSportsFan35 Because Steven left the key outside the back door for the killer to use, so he assumed that was the key in the killer's pocket. He removed it from the killer's pocket right away because the police were on their way. If they found the key to Steven/Emily's apartment on the killer's possession, it would raise questions as to how he got it. As you may recall, Steven also had to make it look like the lock was tampered with so the police would think it was a break-in rather than just letting himself in. What ruined Steven's plan was Emily overpowering her attacker, and Steven grabbing the wrong key out of the killer's pocket.

    • @marcrob100
      @marcrob100 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@PittsburghSportsFan35 They thing was that the killer just kept his own key in his pocket without a key ring. That must be rare. Then he had rehidden Emily's key before he attempted the murder. Steven found a key and assumed it was her key because who keeps keys off a keyring? That's my theory.
