The true test of a song like this for me is whether I get goose bumps every time I hear it, no matter how many times I've heard it in the past. This is one of those. Brilliant
Thank you for your beautiful music it means a lot to me and it meant a lot to my mom too , I played a lot of your music to her and singing to her she just died on Easter Sunday 2018 , she had cancer , Jesus took her home on a special day , and your music meant a lot to both of us and still does to me , especially this song and the song I’ll look after you I sang that one a lot to her , anyways I just wanna thank you so much for your beautiful music and voice God bless ❤️😊🙏
Dear The Fray, Just to let you know, your songs are so addicting that I have to keep clicking the replay button. Therefore, I end up staying up later than I planned. Sincerely, Me. P.S. ily!!!:)
I found God on the corner of First and Amistad Where the west was all but won All alone, smoking his last cigarette I said, "Where you been?" He said, "Ask anything" Where were you when everything was fallin' apart? All my days were spent by the telephone That never rang and all I needed was a call That never came to the corner of First and Amistad Lost and insecure You found me, you found me Lyin' on the floor Surrounded, surrounded Why'd you have to wait? Where were you? Where were you? Just a little late You found me, you found me In the end, everyone ends up alone Losin' her, the only one who's ever known Who I am, who I'm not, and who I wanna be No way to know how long she will be next to me Lost and insecure You found me, you found me Lyin' on the floor Surrounded, surrounded Why'd you have to wait? Where were you? Where were you? Just a little late You found me, you found me Early mornin', the city breaks I've been callin' for years and years and years and years And you never left me no messages, you never sent me no letters You got some kind of nerve, takin' all I want Lost and insecure You found me, you found me Lyin' on the floor Where were you? Where were you? Lost and insecure You found me, you found me Lyin' on the floor Surrounded, surrounded Why'd you have to wait? Where were you? Where were you? Just a little late You found me, you found me Why'd you have to wait To find me? To find me
@ninhbac04 idk...im not the one that auto tuned it lol..i just know that this one, never say never, and i think enough for now (but i cant remember) are auto tuned,,, i dont think where the story ends was,,,my only point that they dont need it cause if you watch any other live performance when they arent auto tuned they sound amazing.
i'm trying to find new music to lisen to, bud i just can't quit listening to this awesome band that we call THE FRAY. 'cause they are just so FREAKING good! (tring not to curse here guys so a little credit.)
Sorry, what? Do you think auto tuned means that they took some pre recorded vocal and stuck it over top? He's pitch corrected here like everyone is when they perform on aol. This song is in G# minor so they likely took a software like 'Melodyne' and pitch corrected his vocals to the notes in that scale
@PaulsDrumPad Thanks Paul. I don't hear auto tune either. But nay sayers on here defend him in the fact that he doesn't want to throw out his voice so he uses auto tune. That seems like long shot. I do know what you mean by bending the string of a guitar to sharpen or flaten notes. Thanks for the comment! I'm now going to add a 5 second annotation in the beginning of the video of your comment. Since this video circulates around auto tune. Thanks again!
i thought this sounded auto-tuned a bit, i doubt the fray would use it live, but AOL production team might have added it subsequent. Still, everyone knows Fray dont need auto-tune, they rule!!
@SjuaatteniTi no one's denying isaac's a good singer, just because there is auto-tune doesn't mean the singer sucks, it can be used tastefully. if you've worked without auto-tune you would hear how obvious it is in this recording. listen to the first line or two and you can spot it straight away.. obvious words are 'found', 'god', and 'the' that's in the line 'where THE west'. but really you can tell from the first note in the first line.
@ninhbac04 haha you're really set on this not being auto-tuned.. not sure why but it is definitely auto-tuned. as the poster above said it wouldn't have been the bands choice. it's not a put down on the band, i love them, but this is absolutely auto-tuned.
@gmillar6 Apparently there are musician experts that come on here and say that it's autotune. don't know why they would need to autotune when they can sing.
One way you can tell that it isn't auto tuned, during the bridge of the song Isaac sings the bridge differently then he normally does. If it were auto tuned it would be the same as the recording- just sayin
@ninhbac04 yeah it's still him, but it's been auto-tuned. if you set the response time really high it will have that stair step sound that t-pain gets but the lower you set it the less obvious it becomes. to me this response time is still way too high, not so much that is has the t-pain effect but still enough for it to sound really unnatural. same goes for the aol never say never vid. auto-tune has it's uses and i'm sure they use on their records, it's no big deal, but here it's abused.
@ninhbac04 just think of response time like a volume knob for auto-tune. the higher/faster the response time the more you can hear of the auto-tune in the mix, when it's lower/slower you will hear less of the auto-tune. that is only one way of auto-tuning though, where the whole vocal is tuned. there are other ways where you can just pull certain notes up or down etc. again i think it has it's uses and look, who doesn't like hearing notes hit right in the middle. but overdone and it's lame :D
Sooo.. I'm not really able to hear the autotune everybody's talking about here. (Which means it's very discret, which again means the singer is pretty good.) I've heard performers using it before, and it is pretty easy to spot it - so can anyone tell me when in this vid the autotune kicks in?
@FheTray1 ya this is auto tuned...aol does it to their stuff despite what the band wants i think...issac doesnt need it and there live stuff is as good or better than their studio recordings without auto tune so idk...still an amazing band.
@eetanderndyn well for one this isnt t pains video and two why on earth would he even use auto tone for this type of song? that was a rhetorical question by the way.
actually, no, autotune is programmed with key changes, and it'll change the pitch of what you're singing to match the key, not a specific melody, you can sing whatever you want
@PaulsDrumPad sorry mate, if you're a muso you need hone your ear a bit more, this is 100% auto-tuned. i love the fray and they are great writers, but someone has auto-tuned this, probably not their choice.
thats not true auto tone can sound cool and help them it doesnt mean their a bad singer everyone in the music industry is their for a reason and tries their best
@shutup961 this song is about suicide and what events could of prevented it like hes dead on the floor and asking where was god before all this when everything was falling apart
@ninhbac04 wait so are you suggesting that this recording isn't autotuned? i love the fray, but this is absolutely autotuned with the response set way too high.
they use it to make a cool effect, not becoz they can't sing.... Kanye west didn't use it in his old albums did he? He only used it in his new one, he likes the sound of auto tune
You guys are ridiculous about how much auto tune you think it has. Yeah, theres a little, but its barely noticable.... I don't see you lighting up T-pains songs claiming he's using autotune? gtfo please
thats not true at all.... if you don't know how to use it properly it makes you sound crap, and if your a bad singer, it sounds bad becoz you won't be able to hit the right notes, so it will be auto-tunes, and things that are auto tunes have a robotic effect.. and it sounds awful....
The Fray's songs can mean anything to each person, that's the beautiful thing about them
His voice is great!
The true test of a song like this for me is whether I get goose bumps every time I hear it, no matter how many times I've heard it in the past.
This is one of those. Brilliant
진짜 개좋음.... 시험기간인데 몇 번을 듣고 있는 건지

This song makes me cry :') THE FRAY -> THE BEST !!
the fray is the best ever

Who cares if it's autotuned? The Fray are extremely talented musicians and the words are beautiful.
such a great song...nice vocals and arrangements... \m/
Thank you. You're the only one that knows this.
how many times can i like this???
that was awesome! :L and live theyre just so tight as a group! p.s loving the backing vocals
@PWJR16 finally a musician that answers the question.
amazing
good performance
I wish someone would find me, I desperately need it
I found God on the corner of First and Amistad
Where the west was all but won
All alone, smoking his last cigarette
I said, "Where you been?" He said, "Ask anything"
Where were you when everything was fallin' apart?
All my days were spent by the telephone

Lost and insecure
You found me, you found me

Just a little late
You found me, you found me
Early mornin', the city breaks
I've been callin' for years and years and years and years
And you never left me no messages, you never sent me no letters
You got some kind of nerve, takin' all I want
Lost and insecure
You found me, you found me
Lyin' on the floor
Where were you? Where were you?
Lost and insecure
You found me, you found me
Lyin' on the floor

@ninhbac04 also, the whole vocal track is auto-tuned. you can just hear it better when there is just keys and vox.
i'm trying to find new music to lisen to, bud i just can't quit listening to this awesome band that we call THE FRAY. 'cause they are just so FREAKING good! (tring not to curse here guys so a little credit.)
Bangalore, Chennai and Pondicherry are the best places!!!!!
you're right, i'm on my period right now and this song is make it feel lighter than it is :)
Auto tuned or not, I love them. Nuff said. :)
@ninhbac04 Yea they would have had some kind of effect on the microphone.
@ninhbac04 in saying that, i doubt isaac would have wanted it to be this tuned, it doesn't need to be. i'm guessing it was someone else's choice.
i thought this sounded auto-tuned a bit, i doubt the fray would use it live, but AOL production team might have added it subsequent.

@FheTray1 the audio quality is bad too. doesn't make sense why certain parts are auto tuned and others aren't.
He is talking to God.
I dont think auto tune sounds bad maybe on certain songs but they use it for the cool effect
I just feel so alone and misunderstood in this world
@gmillar6 Apparently there are musician experts that come on here and say that it's autotune. don't know why they would need to autotune when they can sing.
One way you can tell that it isn't auto tuned, during the bridge of the song Isaac sings the bridge differently then he normally does. If it were auto tuned it would be the same as the recording- just sayin
@nickenthen meant to say 'worked WITH autotune'
@ninhbac04 yeah it's still him, but it's been auto-tuned. if you set the response time really high it will have that stair step sound that t-pain gets but the lower you set it the less obvious it becomes. to me this response time is still way too high, not so much that is has the t-pain effect but still enough for it to sound really unnatural. same goes for the aol never say never vid. auto-tune has it's uses and i'm sure they use on their records, it's no big deal, but here it's abused.
@nickenthen i really can't tell. i sounds like him to me.
@superbb1127 so why is this song autotuned? because i have 2 other performances with them at aol and they're not autotuned.
Sooo.. I'm not really able to hear the autotune everybody's talking about here. (Which means it's very discret, which again means the singer is pretty good.)
I've heard performers using it before, and it is pretty easy to spot it - so can anyone tell me when in this vid the autotune kicks in?
ben the drummer looks a lot like bradley cooper dont you guys think so
p.s. i have the exact same jacket issac is wearing
this sounds better than the official version that got auto-tuned...
@imurfriend77 exactly! but these "experts" that see this video is convinced it's not his voice.
@mark0000000009 is there autotune through out the whole song?
actually, no, autotune is programmed with key changes, and it'll change the pitch of what you're singing to match the key, not a specific melody, you can sing whatever you want
@ADoc1980 you too?
@PaulsDrumPad sorry mate, if you're a muso you need hone your ear a bit more, this is 100% auto-tuned. i love the fray and they are great writers, but someone has auto-tuned this, probably not their choice.
He is asking him about where he was, and why He didn't find him earlier, about God taking all he wants, stuff like that.
@nickenthen you're the only one to ever mention response time. I'm sure you know what you're talking about. But I have no idea what that is :/
well never say never mate ;)
is that a hybrid piano???
thats not true auto tone can sound cool and help them it doesnt mean their a bad singer everyone in the music industry is their for a reason and tries their best
@shutup961 this song is about suicide and what events could of prevented it like hes dead on the floor and asking where was god before all this when everything was falling apart
@PWJR16 sorry wrong
isaac slades doesn't need auto-tune!!!! >:(
............
HAHAHAH I COMMENTED ON THIS 4 MONTHS AGO
AND NOW SOMBODY REPLIES TO IT. THAT'S A 4 MONTH OLD PERIOD LOLOLOL1!!
@ninhbac04 wait so are you suggesting that this recording isn't autotuned? i love the fray, but this is absolutely autotuned with the response set way too high.
Huh?
no no basically rappers use the auto-tune so THEY are actually in pitch because they can't sing. take kanye for example if you even know who that is.
No it's not.
they use it to make a cool effect, not becoz they can't sing.... Kanye west didn't use it in his old albums did he? He only used it in his new one, he likes the sound of auto tune
You guys are ridiculous about how much auto tune you think it has. Yeah, theres a little, but its barely noticable.... I don't see you lighting up T-pains songs claiming he's using autotune? gtfo please
never rang...
thats not true at all.... if you don't know how to use it properly it makes you sound crap, and if your a bad singer, it sounds bad becoz you won't be able to hit the right notes, so it will be auto-tunes, and things that are auto tunes have a robotic effect.. and it sounds awful....
