Sarah is a rare talent. Such a beautiful voice and such excellent songs paired with extraordinary musicianship. She's the real deal. An amazing performer in every way.
I had the great pleasure to see Sarah and cohorts perform the entire suite in Albany, NY at The Egg. What a joy!

Last night I was thrilled to see Sarah perform the entire suite in an intimate 400 seat theater, it was mesmerizing and goose bump inducing. She is just a remarkably gifted young woman, vocally, instrumentally, as as a truly original songwriter. I'm 69 and have been supporting a multiple concert a month habit from the time I was a teen. Up until last night, my seminal concert moment had been getting to see Leonard Cohen perform on his final tour in 2009.. I left the theater last night with a very clear feeling that Sarah had topped that night.

A wonderfully creative song and musical message. Sarah is such a great musician- her vocals and guitar playing are syncretic. The supporting musicians are also incredible. Jeff Picker's acoustic bass lines leave no empty spaces, but only consistent supporting melody. Jefferson Hamer's accompanying guitar is superb; I've rarely heard a guitarist say so much musically while using carefully selected notes and chords that are kept to a minimum. This guy is completely awesome!
Sarah knows her way around that octave mandolin. In addition to her beautiful voice the tone and deep sound of her octave mandolin seriously compliment each other.
I have seen Sarah, she is the light of my life musically speaking, we have seen her four times :-)
I love how the guitar reverb on the studio version makes it feels like a heron’s wings moving on the breeze.

Sarah Jarosz has a bunch of songs that I love, but this is one of my favorites for its imagery and depth of feeling. Glad to see another version of it hit the TH-cam’s. Hope to see it live one day.

Blue Heron Suite is by far my favorite album of Sarah's. It is in my top five of all albums actually. When I don't know what to listen to, I regularly come back to this album.

Sarah is just so good!! Those of you who love the Blue Heron Suite should really check out her live version of Painted Blue from Live From Here. The guitar solo from Julian Lage is epic and makes that song even so much better than the studio version.
I still don't understand why they couldn't figure out a way to get Julian in the studio to record that. The Jon Leventhal solo is just fine but is completely generic and vanilla in comparison...

This has to be one of the most beautiful songs I didn’t know when I first heard it. It was about 6 years ago in Northampton Massachusetts- Academy Theater for the Porch Festival. I believe it was March. Super cold. Sitting in with my love in this warm theater listening to you perform this. The lyrics and melody just really felt complete. Then at MassMOCA Fresh Grass Festival :) I can now listen thanks to this beautiful recording.
