This was a huge moment in men's tennis. At the time, Agassi became only the 5th man to win all four Grand Slam titles and the first to do so on three different surfaces. The first two (Fred Perry and Donald Budge) completed this in the 1930s and the second two (Rod Laver and Roy Emerson) completed it in the 1960s. So there had been a 30 year gap when Agassi accomplished this. Of course, since then we have seen this happen in the last 15 years by each of The Big Three.

I will never forget this moment...after the first 2 sets I was so destroyed as Andre was totally off topic, I couldn't beleive it, I wanted to cry, I was like: "no Andre, not again, you cannot miss this final like in 1990"...and then, when he managed to win the 3rd, I started to think that if he won the 4th, he could make it in the decider. At 2 sets all, I couldn't breathe, watching this nerveracking final set was a real pain, but I felt that Andre was really into the match, that he would die on the court to finally win the French Open, and when he broke Andrei, I was over the moon. Then he missed these 3 match points on Andrei"s serve, I was so gutted as I knew Andre could regret it, but at 40-15 on his serve in the next game, I prayed for a winning serve, and it happened!!! Like Andre, I shed some tears, he deserved to win RG so bad, he was my idol, his emotion on the court was so contagious, most of the french crowd wanted him to win. It was probably the most beautiful moment in my life as a tennis lover, Andre was the Roland Garros champion, at last, wow...if you're reading me Andre, thank you so much for all these moments of joy, you are a huge legend. Merci....

If I were to pick a player to win this final before the match..I would pick that semi bolt head Andre, because of his powerful forehand and his excellent double handed backhand. The only thing I did it like about Andre on this day were his ugly pants.

Agassi was lucky facing players like Medvedev, Kafelnikov, Todd Martin and Ivanisevic in GS finals. They were mentally unbalanced and ruined themselves. Although he was fighting to the end and got his wins fairly.
I was a big Agassi fan as a teenager and remember this game as it was yesterday but the level of playing was so low. Any top 20 player from nowadays would win this final.
