Would be interesting to realize that Sauron was serious about what he said to her bc he made the point he never lied to her about anything the entire time aside his name, but in a way he didn't lie about that either. lol The point being I wonder if they did work together if she really would balance him out. He was about order and getting rid of all waste. Maybe that goal from his perspective could be achieved in a way that other may not see as evil with Galadriel's guidance/love. Would've been a rather interesting "Alternative-universe".
the whole point of Tolkien is that power corrupts. Galadriel would’ve become a dark queen, she could never have ‘balanced’ him out, only become gradually corrupted by him and the power they shared. I’d still like to see the alternative universe where they become evil rulers of middle earth together though!
He did not lie, even Adar confirmed Sauron was on a quest of healing middle earth and also there was this scene in Numenor he begged the blacksmith for work cause because he geniunely wants to start over and away from darkness, he told Galadriel multiple times that he does not want to return to middle earth. After rewatching the whole show, the redemption story perfectly fits the new narrative. It might not stay true to the lore 100% but bringing in a new original story will open new opportunities that long-time fans and casual fans might find interesting. Except for those close-minded Tolkien police who thinks its the end of the world if the books are not followed. As for me, my friends and my family we very much enjoyed the show.
It's more interesting to think it wasn't all a trick, that there was a sliver of repentance in him that made him follow Galadriel and see her as his only hope for evading the darkness

Galadriel: No *Rejects Halbrand (Galadriel; Has an opportunity to change the man into the light but still driven by vengeance, ego, and fear) A few months later; H̶a̶l̶b̶r̶a̶n̶d̶ returns to Middle Earth becomes The Sauron.
He pretended to be someone else because she would like that person. She was too self-righteous and hurt by everything he did to forgive him. Because what he did was no small thing and it would take a god to forgive it. There's a space for them but it's not possible for them to exist in it.
Great edit As for the show itself... I could have used a bit more chemistry between them. I think that the actress playing Galadriel falls short on emotion. I feel no heat from her. A bit from Charlie in moments but no real emitted receptivity on her end towards Halbrand. Watching HOTD and seeing the Harwin Rhaenyra chemistry that came through their eyes - THATS what I wanted here. I don’t feel we got it. Again - Charlie did well, especially when he gave her the knife he’d swiped when they first entered Numenor. I think the scene when they both admit they felt good fighting by each other’s side was good because the emotional restraint seemed fitting then. It shouldn’t have been other times. IMHO
